General Principles

• Problem Solving, not formula-remembering.

• Read the exam instructions and know what’s on the

cheat-sheet.

• Mental cog-wheels: CAREFULLY READ the entire exam at

start.

• Choose which battles to fight and when to fight them.

• Time discipline, when studying and when writing.

• If you are in a hole, stop digging.

How to Approach a Problem

• Read the question. Don’t answer what isn’t asked!

• If appropriate, draw a diagram

• define important variables (S.I. units).

• State what principle you’re going to use.

• Don’t jump too many steps; put in numbers at end.

• Clearly state final answer (a box would be nice).
