Photo Shoot Images Analysis

Isabel Worrell

Page 2: Photoshoot Front Cover

I like this image because Lucy is fairly centred. I like the pose as it think it fits to the pop genre. I also like the lighting I have used in the image.

I think above her head I have left too much space so Lucy looks a little out of position in the image. The mid shot

I find is the right type of image for a front cover of a music magazine and stick to conventions.

Page 3: Photoshoot Front Cover

• This image is more centred than the other images. It doesn’t fit to the pop genre however. Also Lucy looks a little shocked in this image.

• It is a mid shot which is right for the conventions found on a front cover. Again I like the lighting used in this image however it’s not quite right for a front cover

Page 4: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is just awkward. Lucy doesn’t look happy or bubbly which is the theme I was going for.

It is a mid shot and I like the angle that Lucy is facing however the image isn’t quite centred. It’s the same lighting I used in the other few images which like.

Page 5: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is over exposed because I used the flash on the camera for this image. I don’t like the angle Lucy is facing on this image either.

The image doesn’t really scream pop genre either.

One good thing about the image is that I didn’t leave a lot of space at the top.

Page 6: Photoshoot Front Cover

In this image Lucy is sort of shocked.

I like the lighting in this image and Lucy’s skin looks really clear. Lucy is too much to the right of the image . Again the image doesn't really scream pop genre and it’s just a bad image which I wouldn’t put in my magazine at all.

It is however a mid shot which fits into the conventions found in a music magazine front cover.

Page 7: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image isn’t very good because Lucy is not centred and also her elbow goes out of the image. I feel also in this image there is too much of a shadow across the right of her face.

It also doesn’t’ fit to the pop genre very much.

Page 8: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image doesn’t work because Lucy is too much to the right of the image. The pose she is doing with her hands creates a shadow on her face which is too dark. The image doesn’t scream pop genre music magazine either.

Page 9: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image fits to the pop genre more. I like the lighting on the right hand side of the image but it create a shadow too dark on Lucy’s face. It’s still not suitable for a Front cover as the hands could get in the way of text on the front cover. I wouldn’t use this image because there’s not much of a story behind it and we were pretty much just messing about in the image.

Page 10: Photoshoot Front Cover

I really like this image as I think it screams pop genre quite a lot. I like the pose that Lucy is making. The image does sway to the right a bit but I like the lighting in this image .

If trimmed at the left a little to make it appear more centred then this type of image could be used as a front cover.

Page 11: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is really good for a front cover. I feel that it is positioned perfectly. I feel that in terms of pop genre it’s not the best image but with some editing and colour schemes on top this image could really work. I could include musical symbols to make it have more of a music theme.

It’s the type of image you’d expect to find on the front cover of a magazine.

I also really like the lighting used in this image as the background is very pale which is something I wanted.

Page 12: Photoshoot Front Cover

This has to be one of the worst images I have taken. The only light on in this image was the right light and this makes the image look really dark.

Also it’s out of position as you can see where the white screen stops. There’s nothing special about this image at all and it’s really quite bad.

Page 13: Photoshoot Front Cover

I wouldn’t use this image as a front cover because you don’t see front covers with this type of pose. Again this isn’t really screaming pop genre and I don't really like it that much. It is however the right size shot for a front cover and there room on each side to add text.

Page 14: Photoshoot Front Cover

I prefer the pose in this image and I actually really like this. I would have definitely considered using this as my front cover image but the lighting is too dark.

I will try out editing it to see if I can make it lighter as I think this would be a good image to use.

Page 15: Photoshoot Front Cover

I like how well in position Lucy is in the picture as she’s right in the centre.

The image doesn’t really say much about the pop genre however. I also like the lighting in this image and I believe all 3 lights

where turned on.

Page 16: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is okay but it’s too dark on the right hand side. After feedback from my teacher I decided to put glasses on my model to try fit to the pop genre more. The image is the right size for a front cover and it is a mid shot which is sticks to the conventions expected to be found n a front cover.

Page 17: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is a good image to use for my front cover because the pose is suitable for a front cover.

I like the lighting and I think that the shot is the right size for a front cover.

There is more a sense of pop genre in this image too because of the glasses and band t-shirt.

Page 18: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is an alright image. I don't think it’s that special but I prefer the length of this shot as it is a mid shot.

The lighting is good I this image but the shadow is a little bit too dark in the right side.

I think that the pop genre in this image is quite small. And not mush relation to music.

Page 19: Photoshoot Front Cover

This image is good as it is the right size. The problem is the shadow in the face. I’ll look into if there is anything that I can do to stop the shadow appearing on Photo shop. I had an idea of adding a scarf into Lucy’s hair because I though it would suit the pop genre better.

Page 20: Photoshoot Front Cover

The image is bad as Lucy is cut off at the feet of the image. Although the guitar helps suit the music theme, it’s not a pop music guitar and this image looks more like a indie style image than pop. Also again in this image you can see where the white background ends.

Page 21: Photoshoot Front Cover

I couldn’t use this image for a front cover but I do think it has some potential to be a double spread image. I like the lighting in the image. The right and left light where turned on. I will try it as a front cover image as I think it could work as there is lots of space for text.

Page 22: Photoshoot Front Cover

The lighting in this image is good and clear. It fits will with the mise-en-scene and I also think that this image has potential to be the front cover Image I choose to use.

There would be enough space to put text on and Lucy the model is well aligned in the image.

Reflection on Images

The main Issue with the images in this is that they don’t scream Pop Genre enough. Non of the images are good enough to use as a double page spread image which means I am definitely going to have to re shoot. In terms of front cover some could be valuable but need work on Photoshop. The images could be changed later on in my re shoot. The images need to reflect music more.
