Portrait photography This is one of the most common forms of photography. Also known as portraiture, this type of photography is used for people whose aim is to capture the emotion and emphasis from the facial expression and sometimes body language- as portrait photography can include the person’s whole body and even background- although the main focus is on the facial expression and distinct facial features which are clearly made predominant.

Before the picture is taken, the photographer and subject must interact, and if the photographer has a type of

portraiture they like to use, they must convey this but also remember it is still about the subject and communicating

their personality.

It captures their raw emotion.

People have always used pictures to capture time to remember and celebrate, and portraits were used for personal memories. But as society developed, important figures soon became the subject of historic moments and as time went on style and techniques grew to dictate how people would be portrayed. This is why portraits can also be used to convey idealization and importance, rather than the reality the person

Macro

Macro photography is extremely popular as you can take a hidden treasure, whether its an object or living creature and make it appear seemingly life size. It can be an absorbing and magical activity as you truly have the dig deep for almost unseen details then make it visible to the naked eye in an appealing and imaginative way. Macro photography reveals details that were invisible

before and these can be used simply for artistic flare or used for scientific research and documentation. It can make you see the world in a brighter and more appreciative sense, since macro photography is used everywhere, you just need to look close enough to find it and realise how incredible the world is and every moment and sight has possibility

Fashion photography is one of the most influential types of photography out there. It’s not just about models and advertising clothes, but they must capture the underlying ideas and promote the clothing range, the designer, brand, accessories and lifestyle. Fashion readily follows the seasons and popular fashion trends to include in their work, in order to get their work noticed out of the vast majority of fashion industries. The products are made to look as appealing as possible, so the right model is essential so the clothing looks as flattering as it can be, although this is easily taken to extreme where most the looks create unrealistic expectations for customers to reach, but this is no problem for the industries making profit from this, since it motivates people to buy as many accessories as possible in an attempt to reach their impossible goal.

Landscape Photography

Originally pictures such as outside scenery and such were used to fill in blank spaces – spaces such as behind people in pictures or paintings, but as the art of photography has evolved backgrounds have been noticed and appreciated for the purpose they serve. It is now very popular to find the best background and people go out of there way to find the perfect spot that no-one else has seen before to make their pictures or videos more appealing and desirable. With the right background and landscape it can set the scene to compliment the work or film taken place there, as it creates a different vibe depending on the area

There isn’t a simple way to define landscape photography but we do know it can depict natural scenery and represent the world around us in an enchanting manner.

It can give the area purpose and life, or tell a detailed story, as every mark in every place in the world has a story behind it of how and why it looks the way it does. The decades of people and animals that pass by, the forever changing weather sweeping in drastic or minimalistic change. All captured in one photo for the joy of photographers and public.

It can also represent the journey taken by the photographer to find the perfect spot
