The power of photography
In today's society, everyone can have access to a camera and put their point of view for millions to see.
Think: Major events such as- 9/11, Katrina, Vancouver Riots etc.
Does this mentality of 'everyone has a camera, anyone can take a picture' enhance or diminish
photography as a artistic genre or creative outlet?
Photography is like art or music.
It can make us feel an emotion.
We can interact with it.
We get someone's point of view.
However, photography is special because....
Photography- soliciting an emotion. Creating a social impact.
Photojournalism:
Telling someone else's story through the lens.
Objective: to create a news story.
Uses a set of ethics to ensure that the story it tells is impartial and honest.
IE: The photographer can not interfere with the situation, event, or subject.
