Photography derived from the Greek photos- for "light" and -graphos for "drawing") is the art, science, and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such asphotographic film, or electronically by means of an image sensor.

• Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and launched in October 2010. The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April 2012 Instagram is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

How digital photography affected this industry

• Digital technology effected this industry, by giving people so many different effects to use on their pictures and ways to make you photos look better and before digital technology you couldn’t do that, pictures looked old and they was black and white but now digital technology managed to make pictures have different colours for example, having the space look that’s one of the effects people use.

• Photography and photo imaging has many links to other industries. For example it is very important for advertising & marketing, magazines and press to have pictures, most industries need pictures. For example advertising and marketing take pictures so they could advertise their products, same as the press eg newspapers they take the pictures and put it in the newspapers for evidence.
