PhotographersAnsel Adams

Jerry Uelsmann

Ansel Adams was an American photographer and an environmentalist. He was born February 20th 1902 and dies April 22nd 1984. He is best known for his black and white photos of landscapes in West America, especially Yosemite National Park. His photos have been re-made for

calendars, posters and books. Along with Fred Archer, he developed the ‘Zone System’ - the idea is to get the correct exposure regardless of the situation. He regularly used large-format cameras as their high resolution ensured the sharpness he achieved in his photos. Along with Willard Van Dyke, Edward Weston and several others, he founded a photography group called Group f/64. This was a group of photographers who shared the same the same photographic style. This photographic style was a sharp-focused and carefully framed style, particularly of the Western US.

Jerry Uelsmann was born June 11th 1934 and is an American photographer. He continued the development of the photographic technique of photomontage. This uses two or more photos, and by cutting, overlapping and rearranging, a new image is created. He has gained a few awards since he started doing photography. For example, he is part of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain and has been introduced into the Florida Artist Hall of Fame in 1994.His work is known worldwide. And because of this, his work has been placed in many museums

globally. His work is in museums such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and even The Museum of Photography in Seoul.
