Summertime Giving with Faith Direct As a parish, we strive to be good stewards of our resources. Many families have moved away from envelopes and are now using Faith Direct to fulfill their generous stewardship commitments to our parish and the wider church through electronic donations. We have also found that many are not using their envelopes that we mail out. Help us to reduce our envelope and postage expense and at the same time support St. Joseph Marello in a secure and convenient way by enrolling with Faith Direct. Please enroll in this program by picking up an enrollment form from the church office, or by visiting www.faithdirect.net to enroll securely on line. Our parish code is CA748. If you have any questions, please contact Faith Direct at 866-507-8757 (toll-free).

May God bless your stewardship to our parish community!

Lighthouse CD of the Week:Could God Love

Someone Like Me?Fr. Mike Schmitz, one of the leading presenters in the Church today, speaks powerfully about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He makes clear the truth that Christ deeply loves and wants to encounter each of us as we are, with all our imperfections. Fr. Mike debunks the lies we often believe about not being good enough to approach Jesus, and he draws upon Scripture to explain rationally why we go to priests to encounter God’s mercy and forgiveness in Confession.

How Do I Become A Catholic? RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The RCIA ministry is designed for non-Catholics interested in becom-ing Catholic and for Baptized Catholics who have not received the

sacraments of First Eucharist and/or Confirmation. This year’s class receives sacraments at Easter Vigil, April 20, 2019.

This ministry meets most Monday evenings 7-8:30 PM from September 10, 2018 through June 3, 2019.

If you are interested in joining our next class contact Deacon Dennis at 984-8550 or e-mail: [email protected]

Catechumens receive their Sacraments at the Easter Vigil Mass

RCIA Catechumens enroll in the Book of Elect as they prepare for their Baptism at Easter Vigil.

“Joining RCIA last year changed my life. I was married in the Catholic Church and attended Mass on occasion, but being un-able to receive the gift of Communion left

me feeling unfulfilled and unprotected. I craved a deeper connection to God that

only the Eucharist can provide. My friend and sponsor recommended RCIA and I couldn't sign up fast enough. The RCIA

team of Catechists were a wealth of knowledge and taught me more than I

could imagine. Our class grew together and are now like family.

I wish I would've signed up sooner!” Kim Smith .

Natural Family PlanningIn July, the Respect Life Ministry shines a light on Natural Family Planning Week. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Humanae Vitae this year, we take another look at NFP with its many benefits, both physical and spiritual.

Today’s NFP is not your grandmother’s rhythm method. Following the biological clues in our bodies and using our natural rhythms, without chemicals, we can achieve above 97% success in delaying pregnancy. It is also used by couples who struggle with infertility and wish to conceive a child.

For married couples who want to be generously open to life, NFP is God’s design for the family. You will find helpful resources on the table at the back of the church on July 29, including Dignity Health’s Schedule of Introductory Sessions that are held every month in Sacramento.
