The undersigned hereby gives Jostens, Inc. (Jostens) and any news agency, television station or other media the absolute and irrevocable right and permission,
with respect to any photographs or pictures (collectively reerred to as pictures) that have been taken by or o the undersigned or in which the undersigned may
be included with others and any reproductions o them without compensation to the undersigned to use, re-use and publish the same in whole or in part, individually
or in conjunction with other pictures in any medium or the purpose o illustration and promotion o Jostens photo contest and Jostens products; and to use the
undersigneds name(s) in connection therewith, i Jostens so chooses.
The undersigned agrees that neither Jostens nor anyone authorized by Jostens to use said pictures shall have any liability or any distortion, alteration, optical
illusion or use in composite orm that may occur or result rom the development, publication, broadcast or display o said pictures.
Entries submitted to the Jostens Photo Contest will not be returned. Jostens shall not acquire any copyrights in or to any photographs or images submitted by
any entrant. The submission o a photograph or image to Jostens or the Photo Contest urther provides to Jostens a perpetual, royalty-ree license to use, publish
or reproduce the photograph or image or any other materials submitted with an entry in any manner whatsoever as Jostens sees t, including but not limited to
educational purposes, promotion o Jostens products, and publication in Jostens publications.
The undersigned hereby represents and warrants that no third party has any copyright or other ownership interest in or to the pictures and releases and discharges
Jostens rom any and all claims.
The undersigned hereby releases and discharges Jostens from any and all claims and demands arising out of, or in connection with, the use of the pictures,
including any and all claims for libel.
This authorization and release shall inure to the licensees and assigns o Jostens.
The undersigned has read the oregoing and understands the contents thereo. I a MINOR CHILD (under 18), parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must sign. All signatures must
have a witness and all areas with an X must be lled out beore sending in your photos.

Contest Rules1. Open to all senior high, junior high and middle school students grades 6-12
within the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec).2. Entrants may submit up to 3 images per category.
3. All photos must be submitted as prints on quality photo paper (only printedphotographs will be judged; but it is recommended that you send the digital
ile on a CD with your printed photograph). Color or grayscale are accepted.No laser printouts photocopies, transparencies or prints on Cibachrome or
Ektalex will be accepted.
4. Entries may consist o prints 5 x 7 (minimum) up to and including 8 x
12 and should not be mounted. Please submit the original digital ile on CD
with each printed photograph submission.
5. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry orm including a
release or both the photographer and the photographs subject(s). Thephoto subject release portion must be completed and signed by all readily
identiiable individuals appearing in each photograph (crowds or
large groups excepted). Please include the witness signature. Failure tocomply with this rule will result in a delay o contest results and perhaps
disqualiication.
6. Please TAPE the entry orm to back o photo. Do NOT use staples or paper clips.
7. Photographs may be processed commercially, but must have been takenby the entrant.
8. Each entry will be judged or its ability to tell a story relevant to the highschool, junior high or middle school experience; its composition and artistic
qualities; and its technical quality.
9. Contest winners will be notiied by August 1, 2009 and subsequently
published in a photo contest publication. The decision o the judges is inal.
The sponsors in their discretion reserve the right to reject entries or notpublish photographs deemed oensive, in poor taste, or which do not
comply with the rules to the satisaction o the sponsors.
10. Entries will not be returned.11. Grand prize winner not eligible to win other prizes in this contest.
12. Void where prohibited.
13. Prize is not transerable.
14. All taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility o the winners.

Photo Submission Tips
Portrait
An artistic representation o a person with the ace and expression as the
main ocus; displaying the likeness, personality or even the mood o the person.
Pictorial
Landscape, urban or natural. Wildlie, domestic or wild. Environment, old or new.
Illustration
Any photo that was taken by you that is used to visually illustrate a story; can be
posed or computer enhanced. Subjects can be anything and you can use any lters
or processing you desire.
Junior High/Middle School
This category honors the best junior high/middle school photos regardless o the
subject. Entrants in this category must be taken by a junior high/middle school student
Student Life/Activities
Students = Who they are. What they do. How they do it.
Academics/Community Service
What students are learning and how theyre learning it. How students
give back to the community and how they make a dierence.
Sports: Athletes in Action
On the eld, or in the pool. On the court, or in the air. On the slopes
or in the dugout. Wherever they are, were looking or Athletes in ACTION!
School Spirit
Moments that capture school pride eaturing ans, spirit squads, coaches,etc. participating in sporting events, practices, pep rallies etc., but not as
competitive athletes.
1. Submit prints on 8 x 12or 8 x 10 proessional photo paper (no photo copies
and laser print-outs). Small prints tend to get lost next to larger ones during judging.
2. For all categories, print quality, composition and exposure are important.
3. Crop your prints careully beore entering. Think in terms o impact when cropping.
4. Send in prints ree o technical faws. Dust, scratches, ngerprints and low
resolution digital prints usually result in inerior prints that distract rom the quality
o your image.
5. Edit your images beore submitting. Sending in multiple copies o the same image
or similar images is not a successul technique. Edit to your single best image o
a subject. Ask or opinions rom other photographers and your adviser or
photography teacher.
6. Consider the stopping power o your images when submitting pictures. In
photography contests, judges will be stopped by powerul images just as
readers are. Look or pictures with good actions, reactions and emotions,
interesting lighting, peak action, unusual and dierent situations and
storytelling moments.
