Library News This week our students in our Junior school will be taking part in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). NSS is an important campaign held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) that aims to en-courage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 19th year it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and litera-cy using an Australian children's book. Last year was the most successful year with over 1 million people across Australia taking part. This year’s NSS book is “Alpacas with Maracas”written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove and will be read to our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students on Wednesday morning. Premier’s Reading Challenge Congratulations to the following 4 students who are the first to complete this year’s PRC: Grace 4B Travis, Catherine, Gabrielle and Demi 4W Sophie and Dhana 5S Akshara and Emily 5L Each week students in the Primary classes are given opportunity to read and add books to their PRC record sheet. The Challenge runs until 30
th August so there is still plenty of reading time ahead

They are the Year 5 team; Ashtonfield Success and the Year 6 team, the Ashtonfield Archers. These students have already been training each week since beginning of term 1 and are look-ing to their first upcoming debates.
The Arrows will travel to Tenambit Public School tomorrow morning to compete in their first debate. For this round, the team comprises Liam 6M, Archie 6H, Caelan 5/6L, and Imogen 5/6L.
