Design Aspects

Primary Detection will be done with a PIR sensor to monitor traffic movement in a room. PIR sensor will operate by sensing the direction of

the occupant to determine if the person is leaving or entering the room.

A counter will keep log of occupants in the room after initial activation of the PIR.

When counter is set back to zero and no occupants are present in the room, the lights will be deactivated.

Secondary Control

Sound activation of the light will occur when an occupant will clap their hands.

The system will operate only after the PIR has detected an occupant inside a room.

Main purpose is to deactivate lights when going to sleep.

Will wok on a toggle feature based upon clapping sound.

Third Control

Light sensitivity circuit will activate lights in daytime when gloomy weather or dusk is detected.

Main aspect is to allow occupants the security and safety of coming home to a lit home. Also creates an illusion of residency even when no occupants are in the room.

Installation

The installation will be done by rewiring the manual light switch and connecting the automated light switch in coexistent.

The base unit will be placed near the manual switch.

Only template cover of the manual light switch will be replaced in order to accommodate the automated light switch. Nothing more is needed.

The automated switch will rely on a 9V battery for operation.

Centralized System

Centralizing the base unit with a command unit for entire residence will be considered.

Application of fuzzy logic theory of simple pattern recognition of occupants will be researched.

System shall be targeted to become more involved in occupants daily routine to ensure less interaction with the system.

An example is when an occupant is cooking that the system will not shut off the lights when occupant goes to the pantry and would like to return after a few minutes.

Production

PIR Sensor + Counter $60.00 Light Sensitivity kit $12.00 Sound activation kit $ 9.00 ________________________________ Approximate Cost $81.00

$ 60.00-80.00 is required for an electrician to come to your home to replace a manual switch, on average visit; not including parts . Whereas, the light system we have designed will cost $81.00 but provide more functionality and elegance to any home.
