Five (5) adaptability trials have been established in the municipalities of M’lang, Lambayong, Isulan, Surallah, and Alabel showcasing 16 newly released and promising hybrid and inbred rice varieties. Initial yield performance of hybrid promising lines across sites in Region 12 showed that PHB 77 of Pioneer (12.12t/ha) and PR36465H of PhilRice (11.22 t/ha) had the highest yields. Newly released hybrid rice varieties tested across sites showed that Mestiso 30 yielded 8.58t/ha and Mestiso 19 yielded 8.37t/ha. Among the newly released and promising inbred rice varieties tested across sites, NSICRc216 (8.98 t/ha) and IR79643 (8.13 t/ha) obtained the highest yields, respectively. We are also actively reaching out to our upland farmers. Three (3) Community-based Palayamanan Farming System and Seed Banking Model have established in Region 12, specifically in Brgy. In the seed repayment scheme on upland rice seeds, high collection efficiency of 90.3% was recorded in Alamada, Cotabato while Lake Sebu, South Cotabato has 22.9% collection efficiency. Collected seeds from the repayment scheme were stored in the Community Seed Bank in their respective barangays where farmers could access the seeds in the next planting season. Five (5) traditional upland rice varieties were preferred by upland farmers namely: Dinorado, Hinumay, Remellieties, Wagwag, Kasagpi and Kalingkit. Among these cultivars, Dinorado obtained the highest yield of 1.0-3.2t/ha in Alamada, Cotabato. To make farmers see and appreciate the technologies promoted, 20 farmers’ field days have been conducted in the municipalities of Matalam, Mlang, Surallah, Bagumbayan, Isulan, Koronadal, Alabel benefiting 3,500 stakeholders.
