The Philippines takes its name from Philip II, who
was king of Spain during the Spanish colonization. It
is divided into three island groups: Luzon, Visayas,
and Mindanao. It is made up of more than 7,000
islands.it is a unique blend of eastern and western
cultures. It is the world's 5th largest island country
Located in the southeastern Asia Archipelago which
is situated in the western Pacific Ocean. Bounded by
the South China Sea on the west, the Philippine
Sea on the east and the Celebes Sea on the southwest,
the Philippines shares maritime borders
with Taiwan to the north, Japan to the
northeast, Vietnam to the west, Palau to the east,
and Malaysia and Indonesia to the south.
The Philippines is one of the world's largest
producers of coconuts. The Philippines is known for
having an abundance of beautiful beaches and
delicious fruit. The queen of all the beaches is
probably White Beach in Boracay, constantly rated
as one of the Top 10 beaches of the world. Camaguey,

playing in every community hall. The Philippines
Basketball Association (PBS) is the second oldest in
the world after only the NBA.
