and destination infrastructure

Issued Executive Order No. 29 providing for Pocket Open Skies Policy

Negotiated for additional seat entitlements for Korea (28,500 seats),Malaysia (2,000 seats), UAE (10,97 seats) and other key markets

Spearheaded the issuance of 14-day visa-free entry for Indian Nationalsholding American, Japanese, Australian, Canadian,Singapore, Schengen, and British (AJACSSUK)visas

Worked with the industry for the approval by

Congress of the bill seeking the elimination of theCCT and GPBT

Signed convergence program on enhancing roadaccess to tourist destinations with the Departmentof Public Works and Highways

products and destinations

Adopted and implemented new Tourism Brand Campaign Its More Fun

in the Philippines

Participated in over 50 major travel fairs in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, North

America and India and introduced Its More Fun in the Philippines

Organized over 70 familiarization tours for travel agents and media tohelp generate a higher level of awareness on the country

Tapped new source markets such as India, Russia, Middle East, Indonesia

Designated the following tourism enterprise zones which will generateinvestments and employment: Ciudad de Victoria (Bulacan), ResortsWorld Manila Queens Castle

Organized Philippine tourism sales missions to provide a platform forbusiness meetings between Philippine travel trade and their foreigncounterparts

Resources

Conducted 225 capacity building programs for local governmentunits in the areas of planning, product development, statistics,policy and governance, as well as for industry workers to enhanceskills and competencies

Spearheaded the development of 217 tourism products in thevarious regional destinations under the leadership of the regionaloffices, to provide livelihood and jobs for local communities andspur local economic growth

Accredited 3,441 tourism enterprises that include accommodation

facilities, travel and tour companies, tour guides and touristtransport

Developed the new standards for tourism accommodationfacilities and the new hotel rating system

Pursued convergence programs with:

DENR Biodiversity Partnership Program which will focus on ecotourismdevelopment in eight (8) key biodiversity area

DILG Local Economic Development which will enhance LGUs capacityto plan and develop their tourism potentials in select areas of Regions V,VI, VII, VIII and XII. Currently, new sites will be identified in coordinationwith the DOT

DA Agritourism Program to harness farm-to-tourism sites products thatwill raise income of local communities while providing alternativetourism experience for foreign and domestic visitors

DOTC Airport, Seaport and Land Transport Development focus onprioritizing the upgrading, rehabilitation, improvement and constructionof new facilities and improving services (NAIA, Cebu, Kalibo, Bohol,Puerto Princesa, etc)
