Dear Friends, Colleagues, Business Partners and Policyholders,

We have arrived at another momentous occasion in the history of Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company, Inc. (Philippine Prudential).

Year after year, I have expressed my gratitude for the wonderful anniversaries that our Good Lord has so generously bestowed upon us. This time, I cannot help but feel overwhelmed — in a good way, of course. Fifty years in the life insurance industry is no small feat; in fact, it is a tremendous achievement, and one that honors the vision and labor of our Company’s Founder, my Grandfather, Mr. Daniel L. Mercado, Sr.

Truly, all of you have been essential to the success of Philippine Prudential, for without your valuable contributions and unwavering loyalty, this Company would not be what it is today — a force to be reckoned with in a highly-competitive and aggressive environment. Together, we have reached this incredible milestone, and together, we will boldly face the challenge to achieve even more in the years to come. May we always be guided by our core values, and fueled by an unparalleled passion to serve and fulfill our commitment to protect the Filipino.

God Bless us all. Mabuhay!

GINTONG ALAALATHE SHOWPhilippine Prudential’s five decades in the life insurance industry is filled with proud milestones that speak of service, integrity, commitment and faith. Conceptualizing the best and most fitting way to present it to a diverse audience was a task that MusicArtes Inc. , a classical arts production company, took on.

“Staging a story and building an appropriate musical program to go with it is an exciting challenge.” MusicArtes president Jay Glorioso says. “The unique success story of Philippine Prudential inspired us to create the musical entertainment that befits the organization’s commitment and contribution to Filipino family and society. So we knew we had to push ourselves, and our ideas—to the limit. We gathered and researched, and are very thankful to the highly artistic and competent members of our project team guided by equally dedicated officers of the company.”

“Gintong Alaala” was thus born and forged, with the history of Philippine Prudential taking center stage against a melodic backdrop of select Filipino music and iconic scenes from the Philippine entertainment industry.

“What we found most endearing about Philippine Prudential is that it has remained 100% Filipino-owned all throughout the years. So we created a show that would also pay homage to Filipino culture and values,” Ms. Glorioso shares. “The Company’s founding vision of serving and uplifting the Filipino family is something we at MusicArtes can relate to because it runs parallel to our goal of supporting our local artists and raising musical standards. Together, we strongly remain steadfast to progressive business and social transformation in the spirit of nation-

building, in the tradition of Philippine Prudential.”

What is then expected to unfold onstage is beyond the usual small-business-turns-large-enterprise success story. At the heart of the musical is the journey of a family with an enduring passion to bring hope and security to others in their homeland.

“The exponential growth of this Company is also a living testament to the foresight, strength and capability of its Founder, Don Daniel

Mercado Sr., continued by the sons and grandsons who succeeded him. We had to make sure that throughout the creative process, the material is faithfully portrayed. The focus was always on how the founder’s legacy is being carried on to this day—that while we had the freedom to employ creative interjections for entertainment purposes, we would present all the milestones and individuals, especially the family, as real as possible.”

Philippine Prudential recently organized and hosted its 8th Founder’s Cup – the Daniel L. Mercado Golf Tournament (or DLM Cup) – at the Wack Wack Golf and Tournament in Mandaluyong City.

The top winners who received their trophies during the awarding ceremony were Mr. Paul Yap for the Low Gross category, Class D Champion Mr. Robby Raymundo, Class C Champion Mr. Ireneo Bucag, Class B Champion Mr. Chito Zaldariaga and Class A Champion Mr. Joe Cabaccan.

Usually mounted in August (to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the Company’s Founder), the 2013 edition of the tournament was instead held on January 31 to serve as a kick-off to a series of events in celebration of Philippine Prudential’s 50th Anniversary on February 18, 2013.

As with the previous tournaments, the 8th DLM Cup not only provided a pleasant venue for the Company’s golf-

loving clientele, business partners and other key stakeholders to indulge in their favorite sport, but also helped to raise funds for the Daniel L. Mercado Foundation, which supports deserving scholars of the Guagua National College in Pampanga, the Philippine Prudential – AMPAPP Gawad Kalinga Village in Camarin, Caloocan City and the communities under the care of the St. Camillus Scholasticate in Quezon City.
