Meeting Start Up

Approximately 30 representatives from philanthropic and non-profit organizations and local, state and national levels of government met at the JW Marriott Downtown Los Angeles to discuss ways to begin working together more effectively. Jack H. Knott (C.Erwin and Ione L. Piper Dean and Professor, Sol Price School of Public Policy, USC) and James Ferris (Director, The Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy, USC) provided opening remarks and encouraged the group to embrace an experimental approach towards discovering what works in partnerships focused on philanthropy.

Facilitator, Robert Mittman, then focused the group on the meeting agenda and launched a roundtable discussion to uncover wisdom about best ways to enhance the reach of philanthropic and government partnerships. A list of participants is included in Appendix A.
