Several investigations in regards paranormal disturbances are underway and we have recently finished working with Bury City Council in regards some unusual reported incidents in a family home. On the UFO front, things are rather quiet. Of course there was a bit of a stink up in re-

gards a UFO that was spotted in the sky over the Olympic Stadium. However, this turned out to be nothing more than a misidentified Blimp. This month’s issue features numerous UFO and

Paranormal orientated articles. We hope you enjoy it...

www.paranormalreview.org.uk 'The Paranormal Review' has been developed to offer a direct location where all book, DVD and

ETs Home Sweet Home: Away From Home By John Prytz

Let's start off with a commonly held, but unproven assumption or belief that extraterrestrials have in the past, and are currently, interacting with Planet Earth and humanity – ancient astro-nauts and UFOs respectively. Now since these aliens have neither invaded, nor sought diplomatic contact, they have been somewhat less than right royally in your face when it comes to making an absolute spectacle of them-selves. Translated, they are here, but are somewhat shy, at least in the sense of staying out of harms way. Now where they would seclude themselves depends on a number of factors.

Firstly, if the aliens have indeed mounted a long-term expedition to our terrestrial neck of the cosmic woods, they will need access to resources. You can only bring so much with you and no recycling scheme is ever 100% effi-cient. Entropy rules: order to disorder; useful to useless. So, aliens will need to top up their energy tanks, their required minerals, water, fertilizers for their hydroponic tanks, etc. Fortunately for them, resources are abundant just about anywhere in our solar system – water (as ices), minerals, solar energy, hydro-carbons, etc. So, aliens don't need to factor resources in their home away from home staying out of harms way equation.

Having satisfied their long-term re-source needs, they need a place(s) to live – a home sweet home away from home – that's out of harms way. Aliens are well aware that humans shoot first and ask questions later. Keeping out of harms way however is relative to the state of humans' abilities to in fact harm them. In the days BCE; in the days of ‘ancient astronauts', places like Mount Olympus and the high Andes would adequately serve. Ancient alien buffs have speculated that aliens had bases under the sea and/or underground, and these would have also served the alien's security purposes. The same applies to regions generally inhospitable to hu-mans – arid areas and the Polar Re-gions. Such terrestrial abodes would be a welcome relief from the confinement of their starship or ‘mother ship' which obviously must exist in order to serve as their transport between there and here...

Fast forward to today, and Mount Olympus, the South Pole, underwater and caves/caverns would no longer adequately serve their security needs. It would be time to sell up and move to a new home sweet home away from home. It's either back to the ‘mother ship' or the next nearest but still remote and isolated from human activity piece of real estate. Well, the ‘mother ship' is okay for getting from Point A to Point B, but aliens, like humans, need to stretch their legs. That leaves the nearby but out of this world abode – the Moon.

Now there's nothing new about specula-tion that the Moon could be a ‘home away from home' for E.T. In fact it was once topical for those whose grounding in basic science was a bit suss to specu-late that our Moon was in fact the alien's ‘mother ship'. The Moon was an artificially hollowed out spaceship. You don't hear too much about that brand of pseudoscience anymore, but that does-n't mean E.T. can't phone home from the Moon.

What can't be so easily dismissed are reports from bona-fide astronomers (both professional and amateur) about mysterious lights seen on and some-times moving about on the Moon. They are collective termed Transient Lunar

Page 2 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

Now the absolutely oddest thoughts can strike you at the oddest times for no apparent reason. For some weird rea-son, the quotation on the Apollo 11 lunar plaque came to the fore, and why I thought of it at all I know not, but it all of a sudden struck me as being odd.

This is the quote:

"HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH FIRST SET FOOT UPON THE MOON JULY 1969, A.D. WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MAN-KIND".

Now the first sentence is perfectly un-derstandable: But what of the second? Why go to an apparently lifeless hunk of rock (the Moon) and state that you come in peace? Are you going to de-clare war on lunar rocks? Do people, in their explorations, say bushwalks, go up to a rock and say they come in peace; I will not harm you Mr. Rock? And that bit about "for all mankind' is also odd. How come an American ex-pedition has the right and authority to speak "for all mankind"? Do you have the right to speak on behalf of your spouse; on behalf of your street; or suburb; or city; or state; your country; the hemisphere you inhabit; the entire Earth? - Of course not - Something's screwy somewhere!

ET Hypothesis.

There are a number of theo-ries where Ets may come from...

1. Extraterrestrial in Origin.

2. Interdimentional Visita-tions.

3. Time Travellers from the Future.

4. Psychological Misinterpre-tations, Belief.

5. Hoaxes and Fake Inci-dents.

Page 4: Phenomena Magazine - August 2012 - Issue 40

ETs Home Sweet Home: Away From Home By John Prytz

The only thing that makes any sense is that there are living things on the Moon and that mankind (those American powers-that-be at the very least) is col-lectively aware of that fact! Apollo 11's plaque just reassured that alien life using our Moon as a base of operations that they (the astronauts) weren't harm-ful; humans were peaceful and that they had the authority to speak for everyone back on Earth. Our security minded aliens were still out of harms way de-spite our trespassing on what's become their home away from home! And we humans had to make certain the reverse was true – recall those first few lunar expeditions got quarantined when they returned – just in case they got exposed to extraterrestrial germs! Now one has to ask why we (Americans or any other nationality) haven't gone back to the Moon in over four decades.

Why aren't there any official plans set in hard concrete (money committed), or at least soft concrete (blueprints on the drawing board), to return? Is it just lack of political will; the lack of current superpower political rivalry; the eco-nomics of it all, or something else? There is no real precedent in the Age of Exploration for abandoning a new land-fall discovery. Where would the Ameri-cas be today if nobody had bothered to follow up Columbus? The same applies to Australia and other newly discovered lands (even if they did contain indige-nous peoples). Even Antarctica, which is a pretty forbidding place, saw explor-ers returning in droves and today Ant-arctica is manned year round. Have we conceded the Moon to the aliens? In exchange for leaving them well enough alone, they (apart from an alien abduc-tion or two or twenty) pretty much

mind their own business too, and are no longer quite as in our face as they were in ancient times when they ruled as ancient astronauts - ...

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Beyond Best Evidence: The UFO Enigma is a feature-length documentary that will take the cases shown in Best Evidence, as well as a couple of new ones that highlight what appear to be some of the more "high strangeness" aspects of the phenomenon, and explore with the three key possible explanations with world's leading experts on the subject, as follows:

1. Extraterrestrial Hypothesis - This explanation maintains that UFO sightings represent proof of visitation to Earth by advanced extraterrestrials from another world, most likely within what propo-nents term of "local galactic neighbourhood."

2. Interdimensional Hypothesis - This explanation maintains that UFO sightings involve visitations from other "realities" or "dimensions" that co-exist alongside our own. It also holds that UFOs are a modern manifestation of a phenomenon that has occurred throughout recorded human history, which in prior ages were ascribed to mythological or supernatural forces and creatures.

3. Psychosocial hypothesis - This explanation maintains that UFO Sightings can be explained by psychological or social means, examples of which include wishful thinking, hallucinations, hoaxes, and misidentification of prosaic objects, such as satellites, aircraft, or natural phenomena.

What is a Ghost: A New Quantum Perspective By Robert Young BSc.

Page 5 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

A particle accelerator or also known as an atom smasher is a device that uses electric fields to propel electrically charged particles to high speeds and to contain them. There are two basic

types: linear accelerators and circular accelerators. In a linear accelerator, also known as linac, particles are accelerated in a straight line with a target of interest at one end. Linacs are very

widely used, every cathode ray tube has one. An ordinary CRT television set is a simple form of accelerator. They are also used to provide an initial low energy kick to particles before they are injected into circular accelerators. In a circular accelerator, particles move in a circle until they

reach sufficient energy. The particle track is typically bent into a circle using electromagnets. The advantage of circular accelerators over linear accelerators is that the ring topology allows con-

tinuous acceleration, as the particle can transmit indefinitely. Another advantage is that a circular accelerator is relatively smaller than a linear accelerator of comparable power. A linac would have

to be extremely long to have the equivalent power of a circular accelerator...

What is a Ghost: A New Quantum Perspective By Robert Young BSc.

For the use of particle accelerators, beams of high energy particles are use-ful for both fundamental and applied research in the sciences. For the most basic inquiries into the dynamics and structure of matter, space and time, physicists seek the simplest kinds of interactions at the highest possible en-ergies. These typically entail particle energies of many GeV, and the interac-tions of the simplest kinds of particles: leptons (electrons and positrons) and quarks for the matter, or photons and gluons for the field quanta. At a higher level of complexity, nuclear physicists and cosmologists may use beams of bare atomic nuclei, stripped of elec-tron’s, to investigate the structure, in-teractions and properties of the nuclei themselves, and of condensed matter at extremely high temperatures and densi-ties, such as might have occurred in the first moments of the big bang. In September 2008, physicists at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), in Geneva success-fully injected the first beam of particles (protons) into the biggest atom smasher on the planet, the Large Hadron Col-lider (LHC), marking the start of the countdown to probing the secrets of the universe. The experiment took two decades and ten billion dollars to get underway. Scientists pushed ahead with powering up the machine, shrugging off speculative fears that it could destroy all life on Earth by sucking the planet into a black hole. The first attempt at the experiment failed but a second at-tempt proved successful. The two beams of particles travel around the 27 kilometer underground tunnel at high speeds of 99.999999 the speed of light. The machine was successfully cooled to temperatures below minus 270 de-grees, a fraction of a degree above the lowest achievable temperature. In these temperature ranges, helium becomes a liquid, and is used to cool the super conducting magnets which keep the proton beams circulating at almost the speed of light as well as making the LHC the largest refrigerator in the world. The LHC is the worlds most powerful particle accelerator, producing beams seven times more energetic than any other previous particle accelerator, and around thirty times more intense when it reached design performance around 2010. The protons injected into the giant machine are obtained by remov-ing electrons from hydrogen gas and are then accelerated into bunches. For the tests, the proton bunches were first accelerated by the Super Proton

Synchrotron (SPS), a smaller 4.3 mile ring, before injection into the LHC, which has to be timed to the nanosec-ond to work. Once the individual detec-tors ( The eyes that study the effects of collisions between particles) are ready, further injection tests will attempt to ensure two counter rotating proton beams circulate throughout the ma-chine. The particle collisions which are pro-duced will allow scientists to learn what happened when the universe was born (the big bang) 13.7 billion years ago. The physicists will be creating individ-ual collisions, collisions which oc-curred in the universe when it was like a trillionth of a second old. Capturing the remnants of high energy collisions between these two counter rotating proton beams became possible, setting the stage for the LHC to potentially rewrite the laws of physics as we know them. They arranged the beams to col-lide together , recreating the conditions that were present less than a billionth of a second after the Big band that created the universe, up to 600 million times a second. The Large Hadron Collider has been hailed a machine of discovery. One of the aims of the LHC is to im-prove the current theory about the forces that bind together the particles in every atom. Physicists believed they would find an elusive elementary parti-cle called the Higgs Boson Particle, also known as the ‘God Particle’, which should explain why other particles ob-tain and hold mass together.

If the Higgs Boson was not there, the effort would not have been in vain, as many theorists say that the most inter-esting thing of all is if the Higgs Boson is not there. Theorists also stated that if the Higgs Boson is there, the physicists will find it, if it is not there, they will have to find out why it is not there and

Page 6 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

what is replacing it. Other physicists hoped that a menagerie of new particles will be seen and discovered and per-haps some of them will help account for the dark matter that astronomers cannot see, although they can detect its existence via the gravitational forces it exerts on other particles. On July 4 2012, CERN announced the discovery of a particle which are almost certainly the elusive Higgs Boson and will now become one of the biggest scientific discoveries of our time. THE HIGGS BOSON PARTICLE Back in the 1960s, Professor Peter Higgs and other scientists were in-volved in trying to make a theory, known as the Standard Model make sense.

The Standard Model is a mathematical description of nature. It contains all the sub atomic building blocks of the uni-verse and describes how they interact with each other through three of the four known forces. Those forces are the electromagnetic force, the strong and the weak nuclear forces that operate deep within the heart of matter, and the force of gravity. Only the force of grav-ity stands outside the scientific model. So if you have ever wanted to know how all the molecules that make up the human body hold together the way they do, how a table and a chair, a car, ani-mals, a tree, a blade of grass, the sea, the sky, the sun and planets, what stops us walking through walls or falling through a floor, Especially since it was thought that atoms are mostly empty space. The answers are contained in the equations of the Standard Model. The Standard Model now says that empty space is not empty but instead is crammed full of Higgs Boson Particles. Every little inch of space that you see in front of your eyes now, every little cube of space inside the human body and every little cube of space everywhere in the universe is literally jam packed full of Higgs Bosons. The reason we are solid at the deepest possible source and everything we see that keeps it shape is that the particles that make up our

Funding.

In 1992, Congress killed the Superconducting Super Col-lider, which would have been built in Texas and would have found the Higgs 10 years earlier than CERN. The can-cellation happened after the country had already invested $2 billion and years of work by thousands of U.S. physicists.

Funding for particle physics has been going down ever since. Europe, despite an economy arguably in worse shape than ours, has taken the lead. And it is not only in the field of particle physics. We can no longer presume that the best minds in the world will come to the U.S. to pursue their scientific interests. China is now spending billions more on scientific research than in their recent past. The world economy is fueled by technol-ogy, and the big technological breakthroughs of tomorrow will happen where basic scien-tific research is booming today.

The Higgs breakthrough in Geneva is an achievement to be cheered. But the U.S. is being left behind in break-throughs of this kind because of its inability in recent dec-ades to make basic research a national priority. That is noth-ing to cheer about..

bodies and the physical objects we see are constantly bumping into the Higgs Boson Particles that surrounds us and penetrates us, whilst zigzagging through the universe and in so doing acquiring mass. If they didn’t exist then we wouldn’t exist as well as everything that we see around us.

So here’s my new food for thought theory, what if apparitions and ghosts that are witnessed are created by the Higgs Boson Particle? If ghosts do exist, then they can not be made up of mass as they are not solid manifesta-tions. They have been seen to walk through solid walls and doors etc. what if the apparitions themselves are com-posed of just Higgs Boson Particles as they seem to have no mass, this could explain why ghosts are seen to pass through solid objects. Lets say that when a person passes away, they begin to decompose so in effect, the mass

they once attained now dissipates. Where does it go? Does the Higgs Bos-ons that once made up the now de-ceased person carry a residue or blue-print or memory of the person that made them who they were? Does it explain consciousness? Does that ex-plain why apparitions suddenly appear

then disappear because just occasion-ally the image of the person is reformed by the Higgs Bosons trying to re-attain mass, whilst travelling through the universe and then is seen by a witness? This could explain inanimate objects witnessed as ghosts, apparitional ships, buses, planes and trains etc that are witnessed. It is a new thought provok-ing theory of mine I’ve been contem-plating. Perhaps object manipulation, such as furniture moving and chairs and tables being thrown about are caused by quantum chain reactions as the Higgs

Boson Particles are trying to reform into a physical visual stimuli such as an apparition. Perhaps object manipulation is the effect that happens when Higgs Bosons are colliding with each other at the speed of light trying to attain mass? As we think that ghostly activity is somehow manipulated by an electro-

magnetic field which is also one of the four quantum forces that surround us. It dosen’t explain everything relating to ghosts and haunting phenomena, but is thought provoking all the same. I be-lieve that supernatural events may be just natural after all! More evidence is required for us to reach a scientific conclusion, but you have to agree… Its certainly puts a new slant on what we make consider natural in this world. For now… we must wait for new information;… information that mat reveal a startling conclusion...

Answer to 'God particle' found in St. Paul's epistle.

My interest in the “God parti-cle” reaches back into college

days in the 1940s. While attending Long Island Univer-

sity, my physics professor took us into a study of atoms and

subatomic elements. The question was: “Is there some-

thing that somehow causes elements of matter to adhere and form mass, which com-

bines with gravity and gives all object weight?” Our professor spoke honestly and suggested

we call it cosmic glue.

In the 1960s, physicist Peter Higgs suggested that a particle

must exist that creates a “sticky” field that acts as a

drag on other particles and thus forms matter. The unknown

particle has been referred to as Higgs Boson. And this is the

cosmic glue that has been discovered and now announced

to the world on July 4 as the “God particle.”

As a Lutheran clergyman, I have studied the Greek lan-

guage in which the New Testa-ment was written. While

reading one of the epistles of St. Paul, I discovered a word

that seemed to offer the “God answer” to the problem of the

“God particle.” In St. Paul’s letter to the Colossians, Chap-ter 1, Verse 16, he writes “By

Him (God), all things were created. He is before all things,

and in him all things hold together.” The words “hold

together” are a translation of a Greek word “sunistemi,”

which means “hold together, adhere, cohere in mutual

dependence.” Sort of like a cosmic glue?

Does it make one wonder how a man who lived 2,000 years

ago and who had never studied physics could somehow under-

stand the secret to something that has puzzled brilliant

modern minds for so many years?

Could it be that St. Paul of-fered God’s answer to the

question of the God particle? I think so.

Livestock and Wildlife Mutilations: Whodunit? By John Prytz

Page 9 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

For the better part of going on towards five decades worth, there's been a ongoing and gruesome phenomena

seemingly clustered around the American mid-western regions (though Charles Fort collected similar cases from

England in the 19th and early 20th Centuries) that involves what has been described as the mutilation of

large herbivore wildlife such as bison, but more usually domesticated livestock like cattle, sheep and horses.

Mutilation is not usually a word associated with natural processes like predation, rather deliberate acts for

purposes other than taking down an animal as a natural food source. We'll return to that unnatural bit later on

down the track...

Page 11: Phenomena Magazine - August 2012 - Issue 40

beyond reasonable doubt (say by the FBI or the AFT) of any human or cultist ac-tivity was ever uncovered by any official investigation

Of course there have been claims that the American government is actually respon-sible via clandestine or covert research into possible cattle-human transmitted diseases like ‘mad cow disease' and scrapie, research via the National Insti-tute of Health (NIH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) with covering support from the armed forces via ‘black helicopters'. However, on balance, you'd think such work in the public interest wouldn't have to be done undercover! Surely the American powers-that-be can buy livestock at random for testing; ditto hunt other wildlife for routine and ongo-ing testing in the open. Some conspiracy scenarios make sense – this one doesn't.

You can't really pin this on some sort of unknown, undiscovered predator like the Chupacabra – an animal that would be in the providence of cryptozoologists since there have been no sightings of such potential critters in the area with the necessary ‘tools' (teeth and jaws), and anyway no tracks, known animal or un-known animal.

Since the phenomena exists and requires explanation and resolution, perhaps that leaves the otherworldly. Are aliens in UFOs responsible? While there have, on occasion been reports of unusual aerial objects in the relevant vicinity prior to mutilations, it would seem on the surface to be relatively absurd. Why would aliens want bits and pieces and the blood of large herbivores?

Alien beings will, by definition, have alien minds, an alien psychology and alien motives – alien relative to us of course.

There is however an obvious parallel with alien UFO abductions. Humans who claim to have been abducted by the ‘Greys' also claim to have had tissue samples taken from them – biopsies – and often have the unexplained scares to ‘prove' it, though to the skeptics that hardly constitutes real evidence, far less proof. Still, it's another dot point suggest-ing that aliens, for whatever reason, just take tissue samples to monitor – what? Well, who knows? At least the humans aren't sacrificed on the alien's altar.

Needless to say humans (biologists, vets, nurses, medical doctors & researchers) do tissue sample work all the time and sometimes it's necessary to kill the sub-ject under the knife first. Ultimately, to date, the only reasonable conclusion that can be reached is that there is no ‘smoking gun' proof yet to identify be-yond question whodunit, if indeed there is just a single whodunit...

Page 10 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

it not for a few other unusual features.

Firstly, you'd expect to see signs of a predator-prey struggle – the ground should have been scuffed up a bit; the vegetation slightly disturbed. That's not what you find. You'd expect in many cases to observe the tracks of the preda-tory animal(s). You don't tend to find tracks. Often there are not even tracks of the victim in the immediate vicinity as if the animal were dumped from above at the spot. Thirdly, if natural, you wouldn't expect the ground/soil and surrounding vegetation in the immediate area of the kill to show any long-term lasting ef-fects. Often the kill site can be identified way down the track by unusual changes in the condition of the soil and vegeta-tion, usually for the worse.

Further, natural predators tend to avoid or shy away from the mutilated carcass even though it's an apparently easy meal. Ditto other livestock avoid the area as well. It's like a no-go zone. Some post-mortem biochemical studies suggest that the victim in question was tranquilized prior to the mutilation. One of the anomalies often reported via laboratory studies of the carcass are unusual altera-tions in the amounts of vitamins, miner-als and other associated biochemical compounds. The findings of tranquilizers and/or anomalies in the standard bio-chemistry of the victim, points more to a human or an otherworldly culprit. What about the human animal?

Because the nature of the wounds often having the nature or hallmarks sugges-tive of surgery; well there's another predator that needs to be considered, the human predator. Well that doesn't really appear to wash either – again, no human footprints in the area prior to discovery; no tire tracks (and most of the kill sites are off the beaten track – a long walk to get to them). Further, to the best of my knowledge, no human(s) have ever been observed in the act, far less caught, tried and convicted. Further, no human(s) or cults (Satanic or otherwise) have claimed responsibility. In gun-toting America, especially rural America where rifles and shotguns probably outnumber their hu-man owners, any other humans with animal mutilation on their depraved minds are really risking their hides – farmers seeing their livestock (and liveli-hoods) butchered are liable to shoot first and ask questions later!

Further still, the nature of the incisions hasn't been duplicated in the laboratory by lasers (an obvious human tool if hu-mans were responsible) since there's no signs of heat or cooking on the carcass incisions. Laboratory tests show that the time and effort to do the high precision cutting job using sharp steel implements is quite considerable. Hides are tough, unlike human skin. Further, no evidence

These unfortunate victims usually have selected and nearly consistent bits and pieces of their body removed with near surgical precision. Most of the carcass is left behind, though the body is usually devoid of blood.

Firstly, from the outset, there's no deny-ing the reality of the phenomena – ghosts and UFOs come and go like will-o'-the-wisps, but animal mutilations, like crop circles, stick around and are available for ongoing scrutiny and analysis, and both have some other common threads like clustering in geographical areas (crop circles tend to be associated with and clustered in SW England. Both are ongo-ing and both now number in the hun-dreds to thousands of individual cases. Further, there have been several (two) independent Federal inquiries into the phenomena, one by the FBI (1979), the other by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (AFT). Both studies produced conclusions that anomalies existed in some mutilation cases and that further studies were war-ranted. There have also been various State-level investigations as well as Sen-ate hearings.

The most obvious answer to the mutila-tion mystery is that all can be attributed to natural predators doing their thing. In fact professional veterinarians usually associated with university schools of veterinary medicine or science proclaim from their ivory towers that these are indeed the results of natural predation by known carnivores, all by studying the photographic evidence – god forbid they'd actually do any on-site fieldwork. However, they do admit that not all of the hundreds to thousands of mutilation cases fall into such neat little piles. All agree by now that all cases cannot be easily explained by wild cats like moun-tain lions and bobcats or those from the canine side of things like wolves and coyotes, and similar predators such as foxes and wild dogs.

An obvious problem with the natural predation theory is the appearance of the phenomena in the mid-1960s (apart from still relatively recent England noted above). Prey and predators existed way before that as well as humans to report the cases.

In contrast, the man-on-the-land, the farmers, rangers, hunters, wildlife field biologists and vets who work for govern-ment departments and other outdoors types who are quite familiar with view-ing and inspecting your run of the mill animal predation tend to take a more opposite view – there's nothing natural about these sorts of animal predations and the state the remains of the carcass are found in. This might appear to be a typical academic skeptic vs. eyewitness (I know what I saw) disagreements were

Cattle Mutilations.

A hallmark of these incidents is the surgi-cal nature of the mutilation, and unex-plained phenomena such as the complete draining of the ani-mal's blood, loss of internal organs with no obvious point of entry, and surgically precise removal of the reproductive organs and anal coring. Another reported event is that the animal is found dumped in an area where there are no marks or tracks leading to or from the carcass, even when it is found in soft ground or mud. The surgical-type wounds tend to be cauterized by an intense heat and made by very sharp/precise instruments, with no bleeding evident. Often flesh will be removed to the bone in an exact manner, consistent across cases, such as removal of flesh from around the jaw expos-ing the mandible.

Since the time that reports of purported animal mutilations began, the causes have been attributed variously to natural decomposition, normal predators, cryptid predators (like the Chupacabra), extraterrestrials, secretive governmen-tal or military agen-cies, and cults. "Mutilations" have been the subject of two independent federal investigations in the United States.

Livestock and Wildlife Mutilations: Whodunit?By John Prytz

Page 12: Phenomena Magazine - August 2012 - Issue 40

My name is Ian Lewis and I am a Paranormal Investigator. I run a UK-based team called South Wales Ghost Watch. Where did the love for paranormal start? I have always had an interest in the paranormal, sparked by a personal experience. My younger brother and I watched an object being dragged off a worktop. We both watched in amazement; there was nobody near the object and nothing visually, physically there. We tried to recreate what had happened at the time with no luck. My interest and curiosity grew from there. Wanting to understand more, I dug deeper and started to research the world of paranor-mal. I founded SWGW in 2009. Each of the seven team members comes from a different background and brings a unique skill and perspective. Over the course of the last few years, I have had the chance to not only work alongside some great people but also to experience the unexplained and to help others to understand the unexplained. Last year, we had the chance to work with other teams from around the UK during a joint Help the Heroes event. This event marked our first ever live broadcast. What Kit Do We Use? We use an array of equipment, from digital voice recorders, which helps us capture EVPs to laser grids, which will help us capture any shadows or apparitions. We also use CCTV systems to record all our investigations. As well as this, we use EMF metres and the K2.

A Few Tips for Ghost Hunting Patience: You will find with ghost hunting you may not get results straight away. On some investigations that I have been on, we haven’t picked up anything and others we have. You may even need to go back to the same place a few times before you experience anything. Also something that you think is paranormal can be explained by natural causes. Audio Recorder (digital voice recorder): This is something that should always be part of a ghost hunter’s basic kit if you want to record any EVPs or sounds that may occur throughout the event. Video camera: If the camcorder records to disk then make sure you have enough disks for the night. Again if it records to internal storage make sure there is enough room. Also make sure it has night vision if you plan to record in the dark. An open mind: I always investigate any location with a open mind; those bumps you hear could be the building settling or a loose floor-board. Always try and recreate any paranormal event. This way you can remove any natural phonemes before making a conclusion. A few other tips: Give yourself plenty of time to set everything up when ghost hunting, so always make sure you arrive early. Wear comfortable clothes (extra pockets are always good), and a sturdy pair of flat shoes or trainers. Other key things that you need: Flash lights EMF metres CCTV kit Batteries (You can never have too many)

South Wales Ghost Watch is a paranormal investigation group that is based between Port Talbot and Cardiff. We offer a 100% free, peace of mind service for those experiencing paranormal activities in their homes or work place.

We aim to disprove hauntings by carrying out a series of scientific tests and observations, providing clients with any and all findings. In the odd instance where we can't provide a scientific or logical answer, we will endevour to provide an after care service for anyone who feels that the activities are causing difficulties.

PLEASE NOTE S.W.G.W is NOT a ghost busting group and will not attempt to remove any paranormal entities, mearly make contact with any presence. We do NOT endorse the use of ouija boards, paranormal mediums, clairvoyance, table tipping, mirror scrying or anything that does not hold a scientific base. Please note: we do not take members of the public out on investigations. You can contact us using the link above, and putting SWGW in subject, or alternatively via our web-site, http://www.southwalesghostwatch.co.uk Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like the use of our services or more information about the group...

THE 4TH ANNUAL BRITISH EXOPOLITICS EXPO 2012

Page 12 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

Well, to be honest, I have to say this years Expo has been one of the best I have attended. For those who couldn’t make it, missed out on an amazing event. Some excellent speakers and riveting information that caused a quietness to befall the building and customers stuck to their seats... There was certainly some mouth dropping details, coupled with some fantastic photography and sensitive government documen-tation. All in all, this was an event not to be missed. For the last num-ber of years, Rachel and Anthony Beckett have done a fantastic job putting these Expo’s together. Their hard work and dedication cer-tainly had paid off this weekend. Such events are not easy to organise and requires time, expense and a certain strive to distribute vital infor-mation to the public in regards numerous unspoken subjects... I sug-gest, if you have never visited an Exopolitics Expo, then keep an eye out for next years event. Also, this years and previous years Expo’s are available on DVD to purchase. To obtain them, simply visit... www.exopoliticsgb.com/catalog/exopolitics-ufo-conference-dvds

This two day event kicked off with Andrew Johnson discussing 911 and the possible technology that could have been used in the destruction of the two 911 towers. Andrew gave mention to the little known subject of The Hut-chinson Effect and how witnesses of the 911 event claimed to have been somehow levitated during the attack

and how vehicles were suddenly lifted from the ground and moved through the air. A fascinating lecture that shone new information onto the subject of the 911 conspiracy. I’m sure we will hear more on this in the near future.

Richard D Hall, was up next with an interesting documentary movie called Silent Killers. The story behind the strange animal mutilations hear in the UK and Dave Cayton and a field pa-thology unit that placed adverts in the Farmers Weekly magazine and investi-gated some of these mutilations which not only involved sheep but also deer,

horses, birds, foxes and even mice. This lecture was followed by Rich-ard D. Hall with a talk in regards mass animal abduction. Such as 1500 sheep that mysteriously disappeared overnight from a farm in the UK. Mike Freebury was up next who is a good friend of Dave Cayton and who has also worked with him in regards animal mutilations. Mike revealed a number of unusual photographs of possible UFOs and mysterious orbs.

Clearly the best speaker I had heard at the event took to the stage. Canadian Grant Cameron revealed some remark-able information in regards the CIA and UFO Disclosure. Grant discussed the possibility of several documenta-ries and information designed to re-lease to the general public in regards UFO disclosure. This involved a docu-

mentary by Walt Disney and a real UFO landing event at a U.S.

Military facility. Grant also discussed how numerous officials within the U.S. Government had talked of UFOs and ET’s including an al-leged Ex-CIA agent that had recently gone public over a well known radio station. Grant discussed how disinformation is often mixed into the truth and how the CIA and other officials manipulate those that distribute this information. An amazing lecture that kept the whole audience riveted.

On the Sunday, Alan Foster gave a really interesting talk about the spiri-tual side of UFO encounters, commu-nication with angels, ancient civiliza-tions, crop circles and the current UFO situation. Alan’s talk was a fascinating one that covered many aspects of the subject and the next stage of evolution. Are human experiences with the un-

known a normal transition of spiritual enlightenment? A fascinating and thought provoking question.

The next speaker was David Griffin who discussed numerous aspects of the UFO subject along with an exo-teric approach. Followed by Nata-sha Acimovic who discussed the

psychological side to UFO experiences and how humanity digests their experiences. This was a rather technical speech but very interest-ing.

Finally, Speaker Gary Haseltine took the stage in his fascinating lecture about the Rendlesham UFO incident and new information brought forward. Gary also received this years Exopoli-tics award for national effort in his investigation and research of the sub-ject. Grant Cameron received an award for his international efforts. The whole

day was finished off with a visit to Planet X Radio by guest speakers...

H.A.A.R.P. have the ability to trigger climate change. It's not only greenhouse gas emissions: H.A.A.R.P. have the ability to trigger climate change. The important debate on global warming under UN auspices provides but a partial picture of climate change; in addition to the devastating impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on the ozone layer, the World's climate can now be modified as part of a new generation of sophisticated "non-lethal weapons." Both the Americans and the Russians have developed capabilities to manipulate the World's climate. In the US, the technology is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Aural Research Program (HAARP) as part of the ("Star Wars") Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). Recent scientific evidence suggests that HAARP is fully operational and has the ability of potentially triggering floods, droughts, hurricanes and earthquakes...

dead." Dr. Rosalie Bertell depicts HAARP as "a gigantic heater that can cause major disruption in the ionosphere, creating not just holes, but long incisions in the protective layer that keeps deadly radiation from bombarding the planet."

MISLEADING PUBLIC OPINION HAARP

This has been presented to public opinion as a program of scientific and academic research. US military documents seem to suggest, however, that HAARP's main objective is to "exploit the ionosphere for Department of Defence purposes." With-out explicitly referring to the HAARP program, a US Air Force study points to the use of "induced ionospheric modifi-cations" as a means of altering weather patterns as well as disrupting enemy communications and radar. According to Dr. Rosalie Bertell, HAARP is part of a integrated weapons' system, which has potentially devastating environmental consequences: "It is related to fifty years of intensive and increasingly destructive programs to understand and control the upper atmosphere. It would be rash not to associate HAARP with the space labora-tory construction which is separately being planned by the United States. HAARP is an integral part of a long his-tory of space research and development of a deliberate military nature.

The military implications of combining these projects is alarming. The ability of the HAARP / Spacelab/ rocket combina-tion to deliver very large amount of en-ergy, comparable to a nuclear bomb, anywhere on earth via laser and particle beams, are frightening. The project is likely to be "sold" to the public as a space shield against incoming weapons, or, for the more gullible, a device for repairing the ozone layer.

In addition to weather manipulation, HAARP has a number of related uses: "HAARP could contribute to climate change by intensively bombarding the atmosphere with high-frequency rays. Returning low-frequency waves at high intensity could also affect people's brains, and effects on tectonic move-ments cannot be ruled out. More gener-ally, HAARP has the ability of modify-ing the World's electro-magnetic field. It is part of an arsenal of "electronic weap-ons" which US military researchers con-sider a "gentler and kinder warfare".

WEAPONS OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER

HAARP is part of the weapons arsenal of the New World Order under the Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). From military command points in the US, entire

Page 14 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

Marc Filterman, a former French military officer, outlines several types of "unconventional weapons" using radio frequencies. He refers to "weather war," indicating that the U.S. and the Soviet Union had already "mastered the know-how needed to unleash sudden climate changes (hurricanes, drought) in the early 1980s." These technologies make it "possible to trigger atmospheric distur-bances by using Extremely Low Fre-quency (ELF) radar [waves]."

A simulation study of future defence "scenarios" commissioned for the US Air Force calls for: "US aerospace forces to 'own the weather' by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies to war-fighting applications." From enhanc-ing friendly operations or disrupting those of the enemy via small-scale tailor-ing of natural weather patterns to com-plete dominance of global communica-tions and counterpace control, weather-modification offers the war fighter a wide-range of possible options to defeat or coerce an adversary. In the United States, weather-modification will likely become a part of national security policy with both domestic and international applications. Our government will pursue such a policy, depending on its interests, at various levels.

THE HIGH-FREQUENCY ACTIVE AURAL RESEARCH PROGRAM - HAARP

The High-Frequency Active Aural Re-search Program (HAARP) based in Gokoma Alaska-jointly managed by the US Air Force and the US Navy-is part of a new generation of sophisticated weap-onry under the US Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). Operated by the Air Force Research Laboratory's Space Vehi-cles Directorate, HAARP constitutes a system of powerful antennas capable of creating "controlled local modifications of the ionosphere".

Scientist Dr. Nicholas Begich-actively involved in the public campaign against HAARP-describes HAARP as: "A super-powerful radiowave-beaming technology that lifts areas of the ionosphere (upper layer of the atmosphere) by focusing a beam and heating those areas. Electro-magnetic waves then bounce back onto earth and penetrate everything-living and

HAARP IS A MASS DESTRUCTIVE WEAPON - NOT PART OF ANY NEGOTIATIONS

From a military standpoint, HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction. Potentially, it constitutes an instrument of conquest capable of selectively destabilizing agri-cultural and ecological systems of entire regions.

While there is no evidence that this deadly technology has been used, surely the United Nations should be addressing the issue of "environmental warfare" alongside the debate on the climatic im-pacts of greenhouse gases.

Despite a vast body of scientific knowl-edge, the issue of deliberate climatic manipulations for military use has never been explicitly part of the UN agenda on climate change. Neither the official dele-gations nor the environmental action groups participating in the Hague Con-ference on Climate Change (CO6) (November 2000) have raised the broad issue of "weather warfare" or "environmental modification techniques (ENMOD)" as relevant to an understand-ing of climate change.

The clash between official negotiators, environmentalists and American business lobbies has centred on Washington's outright refusal to abide by commitments on carbon dioxide reduction targets un-der the 1997 Kyoto protocol. The im-pacts of military technologies on the World's climate are not an object of dis-cussion or concern. Narrowly confined to greenhouse gases, the ongoing debate on climate change serves Washington's stra-tegic and defence objectives.

WEATHER WARFARE

World renowned scientist Dr. Rosalie Bertell confirms that "US military scien-tists are working on weather systems as a potential weapon. The methods include the enhancing of storms and the diverting of vapour rivers in the Earth's atmos-phere to produce targeted droughts or floods. Already in the 1970s, former National Security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski had foreseen in his book "Between Two Ages" that:

"Technology will make available, to the leaders of major nations, techniques for conducting secret warfare, of which only a bare minimum of the security forces need be appraised... Techniques of weather modification could be employed to produce prolonged periods of drought or storm. "

Cloud seeding 101

Cloud seeding, or weather modification,

is the process of spreading either dry

ice or, more com-monly, silver iodide

aerosols into the upper part of clouds to try to stimulate the precipi-

tation process and form rain.

Attempts to modify the weather have been

conducted for centu-ries. However, mod-

ern cloud seeding dates from the 1940s,

springing from a discovery at the

General Electric labs in Schenectady, N.Y.,

in 1946.

According to one source, the ability of

dry ice shavings to convert super cooled water droplets (those

existing as water at temperatures lower

than freezing) to ice crystals was observed during the conduct of

an unrelated experi-ment.

Later consideration of those observations led

to a series of labora-tory trials that demon-strated the nucleating properties of various

materials in certain cold cloud conditions.

Trials in the atmos-phere soon followed, and operational cloud

seeding programs began in about 1950.

farmers throughout the World. It is important to understand the linkage between the economic, strategic and military processes of the New World Order. In the above context, climatic manipulations under the HAARP pro-gram (whether accidental or deliberate) would inevitably exacerbate these changes by weakening national econo-mies, destroying infrastructure and po-tentially triggering the bankruptcy of farmers over vast areas. Surely national governments and the United Nations should address the possible consequences of HAARP and other "non-lethal weap-ons" on climate change. Can "Man" Control the Weather? Let's examine what man knows today about weather control. "Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was born in Croatia. He emigrated to the United States in 1884, worked for a short time for Thomas Edi-son, and became a naturalized American citizen. A pioneer in high-tension elec-tricity, he made discoveries and inven-tions of great value to the development of radio transmission and in the field of electricity. He invented the alternating current (AC) system by which electricity can be trans-ported through wires of thousands of miles, then sent into industrial plants to operate machinery, and into homes to provide light, heat and en-ergy." (Newswatch Magazine, "Earth Hanging in the Balance" Dec. 1, 1998) There are over 400 patents in the U.S. Patent Office registered to Nikola Tesla. Tesla also wrote of a method whereby weather could be controlled so that de-serts could become farmlands, and where cold could be modified and heat tem-pered. "Shortly after the turn of the century, Tesla theorized that by using coordinated radio impulses, it should be possible to manipulate the part of the earth's mag-netic field that resides at the edge of space up in the ionosphere by generating

European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defence Policy held public hearings in Brussels on the HAARP program. The Commit-tee's "Motion for Resolution" submitted to the European Parliament: "Considers HAARP by virtue of its far-reaching impact on the environment to be a global concern and calls for its legal, ecological and ethical implications to be examined by an international independent body; [the Committee] regrets the repeated refusal of the United States Administra-tion to give evidence to the public hear-ing into the environmental and public risks [of&] the HAARP program." The Committee's request to draw up a "Green Paper" on "the environmental impacts of military activities", however, was casually dismissed on the grounds that the European Commission lacks the required jurisdiction to delve into "the links between environment and defence". Brussels was anxious to avoid a show-down with Washington. FULLY OPERATIONAL While there is no concrete evidence of HAARP having been used, scientific findings suggest that it is at present fully operational. What this means is that HAARP could potentially be applied by the US military to selectively modify the climate of an "unfriendly nation" or "rogue state" with a view to destabilizing its national economy. Agricultural sys-tems in both developed and developing countries are already in crisis as a result of New World Order policies including market deregulation, commodity dump-ing, etc. Amply documented, IMF and World Bank "economic medicine" im-posed on the Third World and the coun-tries of the former Soviet block has largely contributed to the destabilization of domestic agriculture. In turn, the pro-visions of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have supported the interests of a handful of Western agri-biotech con-glomerates in their quest to impose ge-netically modified (GMO) seeds on

Who Control the Weather: Control The World By Paul Chehade

national economies could potentially be destabilized through climatic manipula-tions. More importantly, the latter can be implemented without the knowledge of the enemy, at minimal cost and without engaging military personnel and equip-ment as in a conventional war. The use of HAARP-if it were to be applied-could have potentially devastating impacts on the World's climate. Responding to US economic and strategic interests, it could be used to selectively modify climate in different parts of the World resulting in the destabilization of agricultural and ecological systems. It is also worth not-ing that the US Department of Defence has allocated substantial resources to the development of intelligence and monitor-ing systems on weather changes. NASA and the Department of Defence's Na-tional Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) are working on "imagery for studies of flooding, erosion, land-slide hazards, earthquakes, ecological zones, weather forecasts, and climate change" with data relayed from satellites.

POLICY INERTIA OF THE UNITED NATIONS

According to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "States have, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law, the re-sponsibility to ensure that activities within their jurisdiction or control do not cause damage to the environment of other States or of areas beyond the limits of national jurisdiction."

It is also worth recalling that an interna-tional Convention ratified by the UN General Assembly in 1997 bans "military or other hostile use of environmental modification techniques having wide-spread, long-lasting or severe effects." Both the US and the Soviet Union were signatories to the Convention. The Con-vention defines "environmental modifi-cation techniques" as referring to any technique for changing-through the de-liberate manipulation of natural proc-esses-the dynamics, composition or structure of the earth, including its biota, lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere or of outer space." Why then did the UN-disregarding the 1977 ENMOD Conven-tion as well as its own charter-decide to exclude from its agenda climatic changes resulting from military programs

The MSM totally overlooks this topic and the climate change discussion has been reduced to the oversimplification that blames all ex-treme weather events merely on “greenhouse gasses”. The independent media would better serve their readers by researching these topics thoroughly and incorporating find-ings before perpetuat-ing the big lie that unintentional climate change is the primary driver of wacky weather when inten-tional weather modi-fication is clearly taking place. The freak weather all across America has continued to the present, killer heat waves, droughts, record-breaking snow storms, massive earthquakes and the lowest temperatures on record are now almost becoming common on the news. Remember El Nino? Think about the name. It means "the boy child" in Span-ish (Could it be that this is the Adver-sary's mocking counterfeit for the real Boy Child, Jesus, who had power over the wind and the waves?)

And look at the acronym of the group appointed by President Clinton to follow the course - and the carnage - of El Nino: The National Oceanic Association ---NOA, as in Noah, the man who survived the flood that destroyed the whole earth. In 1977, the Trilateral Commission (an organisation of the New World Order planning total Global Control) published official paper #13 entitled:

"Collaboration with Communist Coun-tries in Managing Global Problems." That official report recommended: "Trilateral/Communist cooperation in nine areas of global concern" including international energy cooperation, interna-tional control of oceans and space, Trilat-eral/Communist cooperation in the areas of weather modification and earthquake control..."

On September 6, 1987, the National Pub-lic Radio show, "All Things Considered," carried an interview with Dr. Bernard Eastlund, "a physicist and an expert on oilfield development, who is a consultant for the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO)... Dr Eastlund assigned the pat-ent rights on his new invention to APTI, Inc., a Los Angeles subsidiary of Atlantic Richfield." according to the New York Times, August 15, 1987. Dr. Eastlund stated that his new invention could be used to change the weather by redirecting the very high wind patterns (jet stream). These scalar waves can also be directed to specific areas and to specific depths to cause earthquakes by disrupting the tec-tonic plates.

Dr. Eastlund's invention has been incor-porated into a mammoth U.S. govern-ment project titled "The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Pro-gram" (HAARP). The December 15, 1991 Alaska Daily News carried a big article on HAARP: "Electrical energy floats high over Alaska, where it is visi-ble as the aurora borealis, a shimmering white, green and crimson curtain. These brilliant northern lights are, in fact, the product of a huge natural generator that produces up to 10 million megawatts of power as particles from the solar wind crash into the earth's magnetic field...

There are concentrated currents, called electrojets, that flow in the ionosphere, and may sometimes reach millions of

and I don't know anybody that ever has." He described the change as a 'sudden wave of heat' like you're standing in a cool room, and you open the oven door...Greensburg's temperature dropped to 86 degrees by 8:00 am and to a more normal 77 degrees at 10:30 am." Greensburg, Kansas appears to have been directly targeted by Soviet scalar weap-ons, operating in a special 'produce en-ergy' mode. Such a scalar mode is de-scribed in Lt. Col. Thomas Bearden's article, "Tesla's Electro-Gravitation, Electromagnetics and Its Soviet Weapon-isation."

The weather started going crazy. A freak tornado in Moran Junction, Wyoming was described in the August 8, 1987 Washington Post newspaper. "One of the worst tornado disasters in Canadian his-tory" was how the Edmonton Journal described the July 31, 1987 tornado there that killed twenty-seven people, injured 250 and resulted in $150 million in prop-erty damage. According to the newspa-per, "it killed more Albertans than ALL previous tornadoes combined."

On January 18, 1987 Los Alamos, New Mexico received 49 inches of snow from a three-day storm that broke all records. The July 18, 1987 Washington Post stated that severe rains on July 17 in San Antonio, Texas "were caused by a block of thunderstorms that stalled for three hours as it moved along the Guadalupe River, leaving 11 inches of rain behind by dawn."

"During the summer of 1987, massive lightning-generated forest fires occurred. The September 2, 1987 Washington Times reported that in 2 days alone, "California had 4,954 lightning strikes that resulted in 717 fires," stated John Carter, information officer at the Joint U.S. Forest Service and California De-partment of Forestry command post. In southern Oregon. Lightning detectors recorded "more than 1,700 lightning strikes within 24 hours," said Denver James of the Forest Service in Portland.

giant standing waves. These waves, said Tesla, could then be manipulated to change the course of giant wind patterns, like the jet stream, that shape our weather." (From "The Killer Electric", by Lowell Ponte, published in Gallery magazine, August 1978.) "Around 1900, Tesla invented and pat-ented a system of utilizing the earth's natural vibrations to transmit power through the earth without wires. "Tesla's system involved the use of Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) electromagnetic cycles per second. Tesla proved that it is possible to create gigantic standing elec-tromagnetic waves (sometimes thousands of miles long) which can be used to mod-ify the weather and create man-made droughts, floods and storms. Tesla's giant standing electromagnetic waves can also create long-lasting high-pressure ar-eas." (C.B. Baker: July 1982, in Youth Actions News, P.O. Box 312, Alexan-dria, Virginia 22313) "At Tesla's death in 1943 some of his papers went to a museum in Belgrade (Yugoslavia). But apparently some found their way to Russia...If indeed the Rus-sians have succeeded in uncovering some of Tesla's lost secrets, the disarmament committees may be in for some real earth-shaking proposals." (Bill Boshears, Cincinnati Enquirer, November 19, 1978). The May 27, 1983 issue of Don Bell Reports (P.O. Box 2223, Palm Beach, FL 33480) contained detailed information as to how the Soviets are operating to manipulate the weather of the United States. "Combining secrets gained from Tesla and technological materials and equip-ment obtained from the United States, The Soviets have constructed giant trans-mitting stations capable of producing frequencies of 40 megawatts, or 40 mil-lion watts. The highest radio transmis-sion in the U.S. for commercial broad-casting is 50,000 watts. The Voice of America uses 100,000 watts in some of its broadcasts. But this is hardly compa-rable to the 40 million (40,000,000) watts used by these Soviet transmitters to pro-ject their scalar waves." (Newswatch Magazine, Dec 1, 1998). In 1987-88 America suffered a series of record-setting weather related disasters. Why? The July 8, 1987 Arizona Republic re-ported that on July 7, 1987: "For reasons unknown even to weather experts, the temperature at Greensburg, Kansas jumped 20 degrees in ten minutes. In a phenomenon most people will not wit-ness in their lifetime, the city's tempera-ture rose to 95 degrees by 7:40 am from 75 degrees at 7:30 am," said Bill Ellis, an observer for the National Weather Ser-vice. "I've never seen anything like it,

disrupted the massive areas of water within the earth and reached high into the atmosphere to disrupt the water canopy that surrounded the earth. Earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and volcano eruptions can now be brought about in any area in the world where the New World Order wishes to cause death, dev-astation and economic destruction...

We are heading for disaster, just as it is prophesied in Revelation. But WE ARE GOING TO DO IT TO OURSELVES! Just as those brilliant, ungodly, evil, genius minds brought the flood on them-selves by, most probably, the same mechanism that is occurring today: weather modification with scalar waves that reached down to great depths and

amperes. When the electrojet touches earth, as it sometimes does during mag-netic storms, it can knock out telephone cables and power grids." The newspaper reported that researchers from the Uni-versity of Alaska, UCLA, and Penn State all engaged in pre-HAARP work: "The scientists had achieved some promising results by beaming energy into the iono-sphere to create extremely low frequency (ELF) waves that can travel long dis-tances and to great depths. " (A perfect way to create an earthquake wherever one wishes!")

The June 21, 1977 New York Times reported that the U.S. shipped a 40 ton magnet (the largest in the world at that time) and a team of American scientists to the Soviet Union. That 40 ton device could generate a magnetic field 250,000 times greater than that of the earth. The purpose of that shipment was to build a more efficient Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic (MHD) power generator to help the Rus-sians repeatedly override, blank out, and interfere with the earth's natural magnetic field. Within a short time after the start of U.S. and Soviet through-the-earth transmissions, this planet's internal dy-namo was affected. The December 13, 1984 Washington Post reported that the earth had experienced a sudden unex-pected slowdown in rotation.

Scientists at the U.S. Naval Observatory and at the Jet Propulsion Lab found that the "earth, like an unbalanced washing machine," has developed "wobbles as it spins" (July 15, 1988 Wall Street Jour-nal).

Weather Changes. If you don’t consider weather alteration is real, then cast your own mind back... For those who live in the UK, 30 years ago, British summers were regular and with temperatures around 80 - 90 degrees... Every year. Blue skies were common. However... Just in a spate of 30 years British summers have been lost. Never to return in such a way as once seen through-out the 70s and 80s. Ask yourself the question... ‘Why’?

Strange Sounds Geochange Journal Snippet

Mr. Khalilov, what is the nature of the unusual very low-pitched sounds reported by a great num-ber of people in different parts of the planet since the summer of 2011? Many call them “The Sound of the Apocalypse”. Infor-mation about that comes from all over the world: US, UK, Costa Rica, Russia, Czech Re-public, Australia, etc.

We have analyzed records of these sounds and found that most of their spectrum lies within the infrasound range, i.e. is not audible to humans. What people hear is only a small fraction of the actual power of these sounds. They are low-frequency acoustic emissions in the range between 20 and 100 Hz modulated by ultra-low infrasonic waves from 0.1 to 15 Hz. In geophysics, they are called acoustic-gravity waves; they are formed in the upper atmosphere, at the atmosphere-ionosphere boundary in particular. There can be quite a lot of causes why those waves are gener-ated: earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, storms, tsunamis, etc. How-ever, the scale of the observed humming sound in terms of both the area cov-ered and its power far exceeds those that can be generated by the above-mentioned phenomena.

In that case, what could be causing this humming in the sky?

In our opinion, the source of such powerful and immense manifestation of acoustic-gravity waves must be very large-scale energy processes. These processes include powerful solar flares and huge energy flows generated by them, rushing towards Earth's surface and destabilizing the magnetosphere, ionosphere and upper atmosphere. Thus, the effects of powerful solar flares: the impact of shock waves in the solar wind, streams of corpuscles and bursts of electromagnetic radiation are the main causes of generation of acoustic-gravitation waves following increased solar activity. Given the surge in solar activity as manifested itself in the higher number and energy of solar flares since mid-2011, we can assume that there is a high probability of impact of the substantial increase in solar activity on the generation of the unusual hum-ming coming from the sky. It should be pointed out that solar activity began to rise sharply since early 2011, with its amplitude significantly higher

than all forecasts given by a number of influential scientific institutions in 2010 and 2011. Meanwhile, the observed increase in solar activity is fully consistent with the forecast of the International Committee GEOCHANGE published in the Committee's Report in June 2010. If this growth rate of solar activity continues, its amplitude by the end of 2012 will be higher than the amplitude of 23rd solar cycle, and in 2013-2014 the solar activity will reach its peak the amplitude of which was predicted by us to be 1.5 - 1.7 times higher than the amplitude of the 23rd cycle.

But you said that the cause of the "sky hum" can lie within Earth's core as well, what does it mean?

There is one more possible cause of these sounds and it may lie at the Earth's core. The fact is that the acceleration of the drift of the Earth's north magnetic pole which increased more than fivefold between 1998 and 2003 and is at the same level today points to intensification of energy processes in the Earth's core, since it is processes in the inner and outer core that form the Earth's geomagnetic field. Meanwhile, as we have already reported, on November 15, 2011 all ATROPATENA geophysical stations which record three-dimensional variations of the Earth's gravitational field almost simultaneously registered a powerful gravitational impulse. The stations are deployed in Istanbul, Kiev, Baku, Islamabad and Yogyakarta, with the first and last one being separated by a distance of about 10,000 km. Such a phenomenon is only possible if the source of this emanation is at the Earth's core level. That huge energy release from the Earth's core at the end of the last year was some kind of a start signal indicating the transition of the Earth's internal energy into a new active phase. Intensification of the energy processes in the Earth's core can modulate the geomagnetic field which, through a chain of physical processes at the iono-sphere - atmosphere boundary level, generates acoustic-gravity waves the audible range of which has been heard by people in the form of a frightening low-frequency sound in different parts of our planet. In both cases, even though the causes of acoustic-gravity waves are of a quite understandable geophysical nature, they are indicative of the expected significant increase in solar activity and the geodynamic activity of our planet. There is no doubt that processes in the core rule the internal energy of our planet, therefore, we should expect by the end of 2012 a sharp rise in strong earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and extreme weather events with peak levels in 2013 - 2014...

Spookology - Who Put The Norm in Paranormal? By Richard Holland

In the way-back-when of my time editing Paranormal Magazine, I jokingly coined the term ‘spookology’ in one of my editorials. I’ve started using

‘spook’ as a handy word for any really weird and inexplicable ghostly phe-nomenon. At a time when the supernatural, an area of research in which we still understand very little, is becoming increasingly codified, the bizarre na-ture of the spooks recalled in this column may serve as a reminder that it’s

way too soon to start normalising the paranormal.

Shine a Light! Some years ago I received a letter from a lady who had witnessed a remarkable vision at Valle Crucis, a ruined Cister-cian abbey near Llangollen in North Wales. She wrote: ‘Walking on the road opposite Valle Crucis with my aunt, we stopped to peer through the darkness to the Abbey. I was amazed to see in front of the Abbey the ground suddenly light up in a large circle of the most dazzling light. In the middle of the circle there was some kind of golden object, several feet high, and walking about quite a number of human figures, garbed in wonderful golden costumes with golden kind of helmets on their heads. I had never seen such a radiant scene.’ The witness assumed some sort of pag-eant was taking place among the ruins. Her aunt was unable to see this extraor-dinary apparition, however, and in a few moments it vanished. The origin of the ritual she saw performed is entirely open to conjecture but what struck me was how striking ordinary daylight would seem when it suddenly appeared in the darkness, especially isolated and contained within a limited space. If what the lady saw in the middle of the night was the apparition of something which had taken place originally in bright sunshine it would indeed appear ‘radiant’ and ‘golden’. Many ghosts are reported as seemingly glowing and it is often assumed that they are somehow self-illuminated. Other witnesses describe seeing ghosts with remarkable clarity in otherwise pitch-dark rooms. If these apparitions are playbacks from some past event it might well be that they are brightly visible because that’s how they were originally seen – in daylight (or artifi-cial light). In addition, of course, there are also reports of ghosts that take the form of nothing but light. So called ‘ghost lights’, ‘spook lights’, ‘corpse candles’ etc are distinct blobs of light which were typically seen in graveyards or weaving their way through the country-side. Their place in folklore initially allowed some credence to the highly contentious subject of ‘orbs’ which are captured on digital cameras (but not seen with the naked eye). On occasion these lights are fixed points, emanating from or inhabiting a

certain building and may constitute the entirety of the ‘haunting’, if it can be described as such. A well known exam-ple is the ancient chapel of St Peter ad Murum (St Peter’s Within the Walls), at Bradwell-on-Sea in Essex. This rare survivor from the Dark Ages was con-structed of stone robbed from a Roman fort in the 7th century and stands in a lonely position out on the marshes. For years a ghostly glow has been reported shining from it but those brave enough to go and investigate it have

never been able to find a source of light to account for the phenomenon. Two examples of weirdly illuminated rooms were reported by the pioneering spookologist F G Lee. The first was seen emanating from an upper window of a house with an eerie reputation in Brussels, Belgium. The witness de-scribed the light as ‘singular … being dull, uniform, and without radiation – not such as would proceed from lamp or candle’. The house had been shut up

BOOK REVIEW "This is the first of a ground-breaking new series compiled by former Police Officer John Hanson and his partner Dawn Holloway, together with David Sankey, a veteran UFO researcher and artist. The multi-part series covers British UFO sightings from 1940 to the present day. This third volume deals with UFO reports from just two years, 1966-1967. But what years they were! The Beatles spearheaded an era of social change which was unprecedented in British history. People who have followed the UFO subject in any depth will not be surpised to discover that the UFOs encountered during these two decades follow the socio-political changes of the people who witnessed them to a re-markable degree. Haunted Skies is the most ambitious series of books ever attempted in the history of ufology, and will - no doubt - provide a new benchmark in the quality of such publications". An excellent book that adds to the collection of John Hanson’s previ-ous two encyclopedia’s. Well worth having on your bookshelf as a great resource tool. Contributional information provided by numerous investigators, authors and researchers of the UFO subject including myself. Grab your copy today!... Steve Mera : PM Editor. Avaiable at Amazon.co.uk

for some time and was presumed empty. The second account describes an old mansion house in Somerset. This house too had been left empty thanks to its ghosts. One room in particular was considered haunted and it was most notable for being illuminated by an unearthly light after dark. Two young men broke into the house one night (in the early 19th century) to examine this room and they found the illumination similar to that described from Brussels: ‘The light in it was not full, but suffi-ciently so beneath them to distinguish its various articles of furniture which were common and scanty enough. What struck most was the uniform diffusion of the light: it was as strong under the table as on the table, so that no single object projected any shadow on the floor, nor did they themselves project any shadow. Looking into a great mir-ror over the mantelpiece nothing could be weirder, the [witness] declared, than the reflection in it of the dim, wan-lighted chamber, and of the two awe-stricken faces that glared on them from the midst – his own and his compan-ion’s.’ Finally, I have an example of my own to offer. In the light 1990s I redecorated my front room in what I considered a groovy shade of psychedelic purple (a bit darker than intended – it was like living in a bottle of Ribena!).

Shortly after this splendid redecora-tion I noticed a small oblong of luminescence about six-foot up one of the walls. It was approximately six inches by eight with sharp edges and corners. It was no-ticeably lighter than the surrounding paint, was only visible with the lights off and cer-tainly seemed to be self-illuminated. I jiggled about with the curtains and did my best to find a reflective surface to account for the patch (although there was no light to be reflected), but to no avail. I’m cer-tain there was no junction box or any other electrical source behind that bit of wall. The fact that it was such a neat rectan-gle is what gets me: it couldn’t have been a splash of paint with odd proper-ties, it was too regular. Over a few weeks it faded away and remains a pleasant, inexplicable little mystery.

(Incidentally – and please excuse the plug – but my book containing the best stories of F G Lee, ‘The Horror of Gyb Farm’, is now available on Amazon in print format. It was previously available in Kindle format only. I’ve kept the price low - £5.95 – because I thought UK customers would have to order it from the States but postage seems to be the same as for any other book. Result! The UFO Files: Tony Blair briefed on alien defence policy.

Tony Blair was so concerned about the disclosure of classified information on extra-terrestrials when he was Prime Minister he received a full briefing about UFOs from the Ministry of Defence, it has emerged. He added sternly: “There is no Gov-ernment sponsored research into the UFO phenomena and there are no plans to initiate such work”. The information has now finally been disclosed after Britain’s “UFO files” were released today by the National Archives. More than 6,700 pages of classified correspondence can be read by members of the public for the first time, including government briefings, letters from “UFOlogists” and details of numerous “alien sightings”.

They include an advertisement for the “strangest job in Whitehall”; the role of a “UFO desk officer” en-trusted with investigations, handling FOI requests and preparing briefings. A position, described as a “relatively junior role”, was outlined by an outgoing officer who wrote a summary of “daily mechanics” for his successor. Many of the investigations in-volved “searching the internet”, he admitted. Also included in the files is a 1995 briefing by a "UFO intelligence officer" who states a potential alien visit might be for “military reconnaissance”, “scientific” reasons or for “tourism”.

A 1979 briefing prepared before a House of Lords debate into UFOs also wondered why aliens would want to visit “an insignificant planet (the Earth) of an uninteresting star (the sun)”. Dr David Clarke, who lob-bied the Ministry of Defence with a succession of FOI requests in order to get the information released, said: “It was Tony Blair’s government which brought in FOI requests and it opened a floodgate for people to ask about UFO files. “At that point in 1998, they were probably being inundated with requests. The Min-istry of Defence realised it was something that wasn’t going to go away and gave him a briefing. “Now, we now have a fascinating insight into some of the extraordinary reports and briefings which passed over the UFO Desk on a daily basis and how its officers used logic and science in their attempts to explain ‘the unexplained’.

“What it actually tells us is that far from running around the country doing investigations, they didn’t really have any special equipment or knowledge, or the resources to pursue it.”Among the other politicians men-tioned in the files are John Major, who answered a Parliamentary question about setting up an official in-quiry into UFO sightings in 1996 by saying they had “no plans”. In 1996, Michael Redmond MP wrote to Michael Heseltine, then Defence Minister, asking why the RAF had failed to launch aircraft to intercept a UFO spotted in Lincolnshire. In his memoirs, Tony Blair described the Freedom of Information Act as one of his greatest mistakes while in office, calling it “utterly undermining of sensible government".

Glass Pyramid in the Bermuda Triangle?

These strange underwater pyramid structures at a depth of two thousand meters were identified with the help of a sonar according to oceanographer Dr. Verlag Meyer. Studies of other structures like Yonaguni in modern day Japan have allowed scientists to determine that the two giant pyramids, apparently made of something like a thick glass, are really impressive - each of them is larger than the pyramid of Cheops in Egypt. Recently American and French scientists as well as other countries that are conducting surveys in areas of the seabed of the Bermuda Triangle, claim to have found a pyramid standing upright on the seabed that has never been discovered.

The length of the base of this pyramid reached 300 meters, 200 meters height, and dis-tance from base to the tip of the pyramid is about 100 me-ters above the sea floor. Pre-liminary results show this structure to be made of glass or a glass-like (crystal?) mate-rial, as it is entirely smooth and partially translucent. When talking about size, this newly re-discovered pyramid is larger in scale than the pyra-mids of ancient Egypt.

On top of the pyramid there are two very large holes, sea water at high speed move through the second hole, and therefore the raging waves roll by forming a giant vortex that makes the waters around this cause a massive surge waves and mist on the sea surface. This new discovery makes scientists wonder if this is having an affect on passing boats and planes and could be the reason for all the mystery surrounding the area...

MoD UFO Files Media Coverage 20th July 2012 - By Nick Pope.

The release of the latest batch of Ministry of Defence UFO files once again made international news, with the spotlight being shone

on the work of MoD's UFO project itself, showing how its work included not just investigating UFO sightings, but briefing Tony Blair on the issue and dealing with Freedom of Information Act requests from vast numbers of 'ufologists', one or two of whom

were decidedly odd and obsessive! Nick Pope worked on MoD's UFO project and as with previous releases, was the person to

whom the media inevitably turned for an interview and a quote. Nick Pope's ITN News interview announcing the release of the

files was carried by multiple TV news outlets and the release was top story on Yahoo News and other sites, with phrases such as

"MoD", National Archives", Nick Pope" and "UFO" being major 'trending topics'. There was extensive newspaper coverage too,

with articles in the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Scotsman and elsewhere. The story was picked up by numerous websites, blogs, email lists and groups, with sites such as Open Minds giving the

story top billing.

Generally speaking, reaction to the story from the UFO community has been less enthusiastic. Believers continue to assert that "all the

good stuff is being held back", while a couple of skeptical com-mentaries were marred by dishonest or mistaken claims that indi-

vidual ufologists were somehow responsible for MoD's decision to release its UFO files - in fact, the decision to release the files was taken because literally hundreds of people were making FOI re-

quests on the subject and MoD was receiving more FOI requests on UFOs than on any other subject. The negative reaction from the

UFO community is interesting from a sociological and psychologi-cal perspective. The reason for this reaction, of course, stems from

belief. Just as fascist and communist regimes are actually very similar, despite the apparent distance implied by phrases like left-wing and right-wing, so true believers and die-hard skeptics are

actually chiselled from the same block, united by their dogma. The MoD files play to this, because they tell neither group what they

want to hear. True believers want definitive proof of extraterrestrial visitation, while die-hard skeptics want confirmation that it's all

nonsense. But the MoD UFO files don't tell them this. They reflect a more complex truth, i.e. that some UFO sightings appear to defy conventional explanation, but that even Nick Pope and his prede-cessors/successors on MoD's UFO project didn't know what they

were..

Ouija boards assist Psychologists

News Scientist Magazine (clip). Image by Bill Hope.

Psychologists are using Ouija boards to explore how we communi-cate with our subconscious mind. Long alleged to enable communi-cation with spirits, Ouija boards consist of a planchette and a board on which is printed all the letters of the alphabet along with a few simple words and phrases. While some believe the planchette will move under the influence of spirits to spell out a message, others subscribe to the idea that it is actually our subconscious mind that

is creating that movement through small unconscious muscle movements. It is for this reason that the Ouija board has gained the

interest of psychologists studying the human subconscious. By examining the movements produced by volunteers over a series of experiments researchers have been able to gain new insights in the

workings of the unconscious mind.

Michaela Strachan is spooked: Springwatch star to investigate ghosts for new show 29th July 2012

MICHAELA Strachan is swapping Springwatch for Spookwatch as she presents a ghostly new series.

The wildlife expert will be investigating all things haunted and supernatural in Great British Ghosts.

Michaela will visit some of the most haunted locations across the country, in-cluding the Theatre Royal in London’s Drury Lane, where an actor was mur-dered in the 18th Century, and The Ram Inn in the Cotswolds, which was built on a pagan burial ground.

Great British Ghosts starts on August 24 on the Yesterday Channel. Britains Big Winged Money-Bird.

The following winged wonder only became known to me in mid-October 2007, when Jan Patience, acting editor of the now-defunct British monthly magazine Beyond for which I contributed a major cryptozoology article each issue, brought to my attention a truly extraordinary email that she had just received from a reader. At that time, I was preparing a lead article on lesser-known Brit-ish mystery beasts for the next issue of the magazine, so the email reached me in time for me to investigate it further and include a full account of the case in my article (Beyond, January 2008), and it is this account of mine that I shall now quote from here. The email in question had been sent by Jacki Hartley of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, concerning a truly bizarre beast that she claims to have encountered on three totally separate occasions, and which she reported as fol-lows:

"Back in 1969 I was 4 years old and travelling back from my auntie’s house in London. Dad had been driv-ing for about half an hour and we were going through the countryside. I was in the back of the car when I suddenly heard an awful, screeching scream. Mum and dad were in the front chatting and heard nothing. It was twilight and as I looked out of the back window into the trees, I saw what I could only describe as a monster. "It had bat wings which it unfolded and stretched out before folding back up again, red eyes and a kind of monster monkey face with a parrot's beak and was about 3 feet in height. "To my 4 year old mind it was terrifying and I had nightmares for weeks. I did not have a name for this thing in my vocabulary and so called it The Bat Winged Monkey Bird as it seemed to be such a weird mixture of animals. "I saw it again late one night when I was eleven from the back window of the car on our way home from Hastings, I think we were travelling through Robertsbridge and I saw it for the third time last year. "It was 4.30 in the morn-ing and I was woken by the same horrible screeching sound. Thinking someone was being murdered in the street I jumped out of bed and ran to the window, catching the tail end of it as it flew past. I knew immedi-ately what it was. . .the same horrible monster thing I had seen all those years ago, The Bat Winged Monkey Bird was back. "I would be very grateful if you or any of your readers could shed any light on or put a name to this thing." When Jan forwarded Jacki’s email to me, I was naturally extremely intrigued, and replied directly to it, re-questing any further information that Jacki could send. In response, I received this second email, together with two accompanying pictures, one of which is Jacki’s own representation of what she saw, and the other a photo of her taken at the age when she experienced her first sighting of the monkey bird: "My most recent sighting was at 4.30am on 19-10-06 outside my bedroom window, I saw the tail end of it fly past after the awful screeching noise woke me up, my address is in Tunbridge Wells in Kent. "The time before that I was on my way back from Hastings in Sussex, having just passed through Robertsbridge. While the first time I saw it, we were coming back from London, heading toward Kent and had been travelling for about 20-30 minutes. The creature was sitting in a tree in a field off to my right. "As for my parents, they just laughed and said I must have fallen asleep and had a nightmare; they weren't interested and simply dismissed it, even though I had nightmares about it coming to get me. "Although the creature looked solid flesh and blood and made an awful sound, I think it could be paranormal in origin as I have never seen or read about anything that even vaguely resembles it, but if it is real, I would love to know if anyone else has seen it."

Jacki Hartley’s sketch of the bat-winged monkey bird, and a photograph taken of her at the age when she first saw it (Jacki Hartley.) There is no doubt that this grotesque entity as described by Jacki does not corre-spond even vaguely with any known species of animal native to Britain. And even when venturing beyond the known into the realms of cryptozoology and zooform phenomena, there is little to compare with it, especially from the Brit-ish Isles. Perhaps the nearest is the Cornish owlman, a weird owl-human com-posite spied in the vicinity of Mawnan Church Cornwall, mostly during the 1970s, and discussed later here. Remarkably, however, as I discussed in my Beyond article, Jacki’s creature is certainly reminiscent of the Raymondville man-bat(s), for which there has never been a satisfactorily explanation.

Pilots experience close encounter with UFO in skies over Manchester UK.

Richard Wheatstone July 12, 2012

It was the moment two British Airways pilots reported a close

encounter with a UFO in the skies over Manchester. And now a transcript of the 'near miss' has been revealed by the government

for the first time. The conversation with air traffic control is among top-secret details of hundreds of close encounters released by The National Archives. The 6,000 pages of material also reveal a police officer's report to Metropolitan Police bosses that he had

seen a UFO in the sky while policing an FA Cup tie between Chelsea and Manchester United in 1999. The Ministry of Defence

files show documents handled by the department's 'UFO desk' officers. The files show captain Roger Willis' conversation with Manchester air traffic control in January 1995, when he claimed his Boeing 747 containing 60 passengers on route from Milan to Manchester was overtaken at high-speed by a wedge-shaped craft with bright lights. Captain Willis said: “We just had something go down the right-hand side, just above us, very fast.” After control told the captain there was nothing in the area on their radar, he

replied: “Well it had lights, it went down the starboard side very quick.” The incident was later reported by Captain Willis and his co-pilot as a 'near miss' but files reveal the Ministry of Defence quickly dropped an investigation as it could not substantiate the report. Another sighting was also reported by an on-duty police

officer who was stood with his police horse at Manchester United's 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final replay at Stamford Bridge in March

1999. He described seeing a yellow craft with four bright lights travelling through the sky and changing from a square to a dia-

mond shape. The report states the 'UFO' had also been spotted by a colleague. The archives show a series of reports in the Greater

Manchester area in 1996, with seven reports in August and Sep-tember of that year.

The sightings in Middleton, Longsight, Oldham, Ramsbottom,

Prestwich, Stockport and Wilmslow all claim to have witnessed bright lights travelling through the sky, with some saying the lights moved at rapid speed both up and down and side to side. The spate of reports coincides with the UK screening of the third series of hit US supernatural TV show The X-Files. Dr David Clarke, author of

the 'UFO Files', campaigned to have the details released under Freedom of Information laws for several years and said they

provide a fascinating insight into reports of supernatural activity. He said: “These records allow us to look behind the scenes of what must have been one of the strangest jobs in Whitehall.” “We now have a fascinating insight into some of the extraordinary reports and briefings which passed over the UFO Desk on a daily basis and how its officers used logic and science in their attempts to

explain the unexplained.”

SCARBOROUGH is in danger of an alien inva-sion, according to a new study.

Research released today lists the UK cities most likely to be at-tacked by extraterrestrials. London came top in the spooky survey with Scarborough, Salisbury, Stirling and Goonhilly in Cornwall

named as runners-up. The white paper judged criteria such as UFO sightings, military presence and Government infrastructure to

create a UK Invasion Threat Map. The research was commissioned for the launch of video game Inversion, which sees the world

turned upside down after alien invaders seek to exterminate hu-manity. As expected, London is identified as the number one

‘Invasion Hotspot’ as it houses central Government, is home to 12 per cent of the UK population and contains vital communication and transport infrastructure. Less predictable is Scarborough and Salisbury taking positions two and three in the hotlist due to their

proximity to important military and research bases. Scarborough is situated next to the UK’s main defence against any impending

ballistic attack, the RAF Fylingdales Phased Array tracking facil-ity. The facility also detects and tracks for orbiting objects, includ-ing UFOs. While Salisbury is near key military and research bases

including the microbiological research establishment, Porton Down, RAF training centre Boscombe Down and the UK’s

equivalent to Area 51, Salisbury Plain. Phil Hoyle, head of the UFO Investigation & Research Unit says, “The risk is very real,

with UFO sightings increasing each year. "The Government needs to be vigilant and introduce measures that ensure the public’s

safety." The study also details which parts of the UK are under least threat, with Fort William, Carlisle and Ludlow in Shropshire

found to be the most safe places to live...

Windsor Castle By Paul Hussey

William the Conqueror began the build-ing of Windsor Castle in 1075 after the Norman Conquest. The castle is almost one mile in circumference and is the largest in Britain. Since it was built, the Castle has been embroiled in legends of suicide, witchcraft and demonic ghosts. The list of ghostly sightings reported at the Castle is huge.

The castle was nearly destroyed during the civil war of the 1600s. While the castle served as a prison, it was also a safe haven for the Royal family for a long time.

Queen Elizabeth I haunts the Royal Library and is said to have been seen by several members of the Royal family. The sounds of her high heels are heard on bare floorboards, before her impos-ing figure appears and passes through the library and into an inner room. She has also been seen standing at the win-dow in the Dean's Cloister. She is al-ways dressed in a black gown with a black lace shawl draped over her shoul-ders.

King Charles I has often been seen in the library and the Canon's house. Al-though he was beheaded during the English Revolution, his ghost is seen as a whole. It is reported that he looks exactly like his portraits.

A young guard shot and killed himself and another guard on duty saw him afterwards.

The most frequently seen spectre is Herne the Hunter whose ghost has been seen by hundreds of people in Great Windsor Park. According to legend, he was a royal huntsman who was framed by those who were jealous of his rela-tionship with the king. He felt dis-graced and hanged himself. His ghost is seen astride a phantom black steed, often accompanied by spectral baying hounds.

Both Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn haunt the Tower of London.

Henry VIII haunts the Deanery Clois-ters. People heard his footsteps and groans.

One of the most famous ghosts reported at the Castle is that of King Henry VIII, while various guests staying at the castle have reported hearing the king's footsteps along the long hallways of the Castle. Some have even claimed to hear moans and groans coming from the hallway.

Anne Boleyn, one of his wives, whom he had executed, has been sighted and seen standing at the window in the Dean's Cloister.

In the last 250 years, hundreds of peo-ple have claimed to have seen the spirit of Herne the Hunter, who was the fa-vourite huntsman of King Richard II. He is often seen accompanied by his pack of hounds, careering across the Great Park searching for lost souls.

The story is that Herne was one of the Royal keepers in the time of King Rich-ard II (1367-1400). Herne had two large black hounds and was hated by the other keepers because of his great skill. One evening King Richard was hunting a stag in the grounds of Win-dsor Park, but the stag turned on him and he would have been killed if Herne hadn't stood between the enraged ani-mal and Richard.

However, Herne was fatally wounded and fell to the ground. At this point a strange dark man appeared and said he could cure Herne. Richard asked him to go ahead and the dark man cut the stag's head off and put it on Herne's body. The Dark Man then took Herne away to his hut on Bagshot Heath some miles away, to complete the cure. The King was so grateful to Herne that he swore that if Herne recovered he would make him his chief keeper.

Page 26 Phenomena Magazine: August 2012 - Issue 40: www.phenomenamagazine.co.uk

The other keepers disliked Herne so much that they wished that he would die. The Dark Man overheard them and offered them a bargain - if they would grant him the first request he made, he would ensure that, though Herne would recover, he would lose all his hunting skills. They agreed and everything hap-pened as the Dark Man said. Herne was so distraught at the loss of his skill that he found a mighty oak in Windsor Park and hanged himself from it. Instantly, his body disappeared.

The other keepers weren't happy for long though, because they too lost all their hunting abilities. They found the Dark Man and asked him to help them. He said that if they went to the oak the following night, they would have a solution to their problem. When they went to the Oak, the spirit of Herne appeared to them. He told them to go and fetch his hounds and horses for a chase. This they did and when they returned, Herne took them to a Beech tree. There he invoked the Dark Man who burst from the tree in a shower of sparks and flame. His first request of the unfortunate keepers was that they form a band for Herne the Hunter. Bound by their oath, they had to swear allegiance to Herne. After that, night after night, they hunted through the forests.

The ghostly hunt's approach is presaged

A modern day sighting!

Some people have suggested that Hern is one of the Win-dsor Castle ghosts that is just folklore, perhaps a distant memory of the Celtic god, Cernunnos. However, in 1962, a group of youths found a hunting horn in the forest and blew it. Immediately, the call was answered by another horn and the baying of many hounds. Then Hern himself appeared with the antlers on his head and riding a black horse. Not surprisingly, the youths ran for their lives!

by flashes of lightning, wind in the tree tops, the rattling of chains and tolling of bells and the terrible din of a pack of dogs in mad pursuit. As the legend goes, if you hear the baying of the ghostly hounds in the sky, run away, because if they catch you, you too will be forced to follow Herne and his Wild Hunt, ranging across the night skies for eternity.

In the early 1860's the tree from which Herne was found hanging, was cut down, and Queen Victoria kept the oak logs for her fire "To help kill the ghost". Her plan didn't work however.

King George III had his moments of insanity and was detained in a room. People have seen his sad face looking out of the window I that room. King George III had many bouts with mental deterioration. During these times he was kept out of the public's eye. He has been seen looking out the windows located below the Royal Library, where he was confined during the recurrence of his illness.

William of Wykeham and Sir George Villiers, the First Duke of Buckingham, are also haunters. Sir George Villiers, The first Duke of Buckingham, is said to haunt one of the bedrooms of Win-dsor castle.

The 'Prison Room' in the Norman

Tower is haunted, possibly by a former Royalist prisoner from Civil War times. Children playing there have seen him and adults have felt him brush past.

The Deanery is haunted by a boy who yells that he doesn't want to go riding. Footsteps are also heard there and many believe they are his. Children playing in the Norman Tower's Prison Room have seen the ghost of a man. Adults felt him brush by them.

A kitchen in the castle is home to a spectral man and a horse. The room was once part of the cavalry stable. The ghost of a young girl standing by an evergreen tree has been sighted here.

Ghostly footsteps are often heard on the staircase in the Curfew Tower. On one occasion, the bells began to swing on their own while the temperature be-came distinctly chilly.

A visitor saw a new group of statues near St. George's Chapel one night. They were dressed in black. One was crouched and the others stood. One of statues was wielding a sword.

When asked about the tableau, a sentry replied he knew nothing about the new statues. When the visitor returned to the scene, the statues were gone. Many spirits haunt the Long Walk, one of whom is a young Grenadier Guard who

shot himself while on duty there in the 1920s. During his guard watch, he saw marble statues moving "of their own accord." He was seen by at least two of his colleagues, immediately after his death. Two Grenadier Guards saw his ghost while on duty on the Long Walk.

In 1873, a night-time visitor to the cas-tle noticed an interesting new statuary group had been erected near St. George's Chapel: three standing figures, all in black, and a fourth crouching down. The central standing character was in the act of striking with a large sword. The sentry knew nothing of this artwork and when the visitor returned to re-examine it, it had gone!

There is a demonic horned being said to bring death and disease to those who are unfortunate enough to see it, espe-cially the Royal family. Other legends tell of witchcraft, murder and suicide.

During the reign of King George IV in the nineteenth century, it was trans-formed into a palace. In 1917, King George V adopted the castle's name as the Royal family's, replacing the old one, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

From that time, the name of the monar-chy would be the House of Windsor. Windsor Castle survived the bombs of two world wars. Today, Queen Eliza-beth II goes to church in its St. George Chapel...

ARE the souls of the departed becoming fidgety in the great beyond? "I certainly get more ghostly photos sent to me now compared with 10 years ago," says Caroline Watt of the Koestler Parapsychology Unit at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. Phil Hayes, an investigator at Paranormal Research UK, agrees. Last year, he reported re-cord numbers of spooky images reaching his inbox. So what's going on? A century ago, spirit photography was all the rage, tantalising the public imagination with what pur-ported to be hard evidence of wispy apparitions. However, its resurgence may have less to do with the paranormal than with the increasing use of social media and camera-phones.

Serious ghost hunters might be expected to welcome such technology. Yet, according to Dave Wood from the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena, low-cost cameraphones are making the business of spirit photography even more fraught. Many mass-produced phones don't use high-quality lens systems and this can lead to optical artefacts that look "spooky" to the untrained eye. Photographers are also shooting more images, raising the likelihood that one or two will feature something extraordinary. "Take a few hundred snaps in a dusty old building at night and you are sure to capture a few odd photos," says Wood...
