WELCOME FROM THEACADEMIC DIRECTOR

The world of business is changing more rapidly today than ever before. Companies

are seeking leaders who can navigate change, locally and globally, who can deal

with disruptive innovations, who can lead their business through volatility and

turbulence. It’s not enough to just be smart, anymore. Look around. There are many

smart people, but very few make it to the top. I have worked at some of the best

business schools in the world, including Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan. I

have engaged with thousands of managers as they charted their leadership journey.

And I have had the opportunity to observe what it really takes to be a great leader.

The Postgraduate Diploma in General Management at EMERITUS incorporates what

I think are the three most essential skills a leader needs to succeed at the next level.

I call them the three capitals: Intellectual Capital, Brand Capital and Social Capital.

Intellectual capital is not the same as knowledge. We are talking about a higher level

of mental capability; to be able to synthesize data from multiple sources, to make

wise decisions even when things are uncertain, to be aware of your strengths and

weakness and to continually seek to improve. Getting a diploma from EMERITUS

in collaboration with MIT Sloan, Columbia Business School and Tuck At Dartmouth

EDUCATION

EMERITUS is a collaboration between three of the world’s best business

schools: MIT Sloan School of Management, Columbia Business School and

the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. EMERITUS provides students

access to a high impact, transformational learning environment by focusing

on three core elements:

GLOBAL

Our curriculum, students, faculty and footprint are all globally oriented.

Our goal is to develop leaders who can lead with a global mindset, who

have a solid understanding of how the global economy works and who are

comfortable working in a globally distributed workplace.

IVY

We use this term to refer to world-class education. Our founding academic

institutions are ranked amongst the best academic institutions in the world.

Our faculty comprises outstanding professors who are recognized and

awarded for their thought leadership in management.

EDUCATION

We focus on providing a transformational educational experience. This is

measured by our ability to improve our students’ potential to lead at three

CLASSROOM.

At our f ounding academic institutions, peer-to-peer learning and application

are integral to a student’s learning experience. At EMERITUS we have

replicated this approach in our “Globally Connected Classroom”. While

the course frameworks are delivered using interactive video lectures, two-

thirds of the learning time is devoted to application of these concepts by
