    Energy scenarioCommercial and non-commercial energy, primary energy resources, commercial energy production, final energy consumption, energy needs of growingeconomy, long term energy scenario, energy pricing, energy sector reforms, energy and environment, air pollution, climate change, energy security,energy conservation and its importance, energy strategy for the future, energy conservation act 2001 and its features.

    Basics of energy & its various formsElectricity basics DC and AC currents, electricity tariff, load management and maximum demand control, power factor. Thermal basics fuels, thermalenergy content of fuels, temperature and pressure, heat capacity, sensible & latent heat, evaporation, condensation, steam, moist air, humidity and heattransfer, units and conversion.

    Energy management and auditDefinition, energy audit need, types of energy audit, energy management (audit) approach understanding energy costs, benchmarking, energy

    performance, matching energy use to requirement, maximising system efficiencies, optimising the input energy requirements, fuel and energysubstitution, energy audit instruments.

    Material and energy balanceFacility as an energy system, methods for preparing process flow, material and energy balance diagrams.

    Thermal system energy audit, electrical system audit, HVAC system audit, compressed air system audit, water system audit, cogeneration plant audit.

    One audit of each typical industry to include textile, rayon, bottling plant, paper, cement,etc.Top

    Online examination will be conducted for above subjects.

    Student will have to submit two assignments for each subject.

    Online examinations carry 70% and assignments carry 30% weightage.Top
