We're plugging along as much as we can with the sound abatement system on range 8. I'd like to thank all of the guys (Jack, Joe T., Joe B., Joe D., Tony, Dave, Dennis, Kevin, Tom, Pete, James, Bob H.. and Bob N) that have made it out to help. We're having to pre drill all of the holes so it feels like it's taking forever. Pre drilling holes is totally fitting for 2020. I'd also like to thank Connie, Jack and Ken for doing the club audit this year. Everything went well again and Connie's book keeping is a huge part of a successful audit. We write several checks throughout the year and if that isn't organized it's a nightmare. Thank you all for your time. We are looking for additional members to do the club audit every 6 months, if you're able to set aside a few hours for the club and can count to 11 without removing a shoe please shoot me an email so we can set you up on the team. Accounting....it's a blast!! I also need to Thank Rory Ritchie, Rory has been mowing Brickyard for us these last few years and he's been going out of his way (along with his wife) to make and keep Brickyard looking so good. Rory removed the brush from the entrance and cleared up our turn around (see pic), along with removing trash that gets dumped on our property all of the time. If you see him out there make sure and thank him.

I "We" need to add Joe Tapko and John Downs to the list too. Joe does a ton of work at both ranges for the club along with mowing McBride with John. If it wasn't for guys like them our ranges wouldn't look as nice. Joe's cooking on our work days is out of this world too, it's why I still belong to the club :) Thanks guys!!! If you're going out to the ranges please make sure to sign in and out and only shoot approved targets. Also, sanitize your area when finished shooting and please wear a mask when you're around other members and are unable to social distance. We did have to cancel our Women on Target event, National Cast Bullet Championship, Club Swap Meet, the Flagler Cup and more than likely our Club Picnic due to Covid. Stay safe and I'll see ya on the range!! Ty

Highpower Division News We had a great turnout on Saturday, July 18th and lucked out with some clouds to keep it from getting as hot with some wind making it more comfortable.
We had some good scores with quite a few shooters earning the CMP achievement awards. Here are the results. The next match will be on Saturday, August 15th.

BenchRest Results, by Ed Camp
The month of July is over, but the heat is not. We had a great turnout for shooting this Sunday, the heat index was high, but everyone was feeling good. We made sure that all the shooters were healthy and kept a “social” distance from each other, in addition I had purchased masks and made sure everyone wore one inside the club house. I had just had the Covid test and was negative, finally being able to have a hospital “non-emergency” procedure done the previous Tuesday. I had to remain quarantined for days previous after testing. I hope this is not the new normal.
The following are the results of the three classifications used by the BenchRest Division:
Rimfire Class
Varmint Class
The two shaded individuals above are because their rifles did not meet the requirements for Varmint Class, but they enjoy shooting, so they entered realizing that their scores did not count.

Wolf Class
I encourage you to come out and enjoy a little competition and fun with other shooters. The Varmint Class is for hunting style rifles with original chambers so just about everyone in the club has a hunting rifle that could compete. This is a good way to prove your handloads and learn more about shooting in the wind. We meet every THIRD Sunday and shooting starts at 8:30am and we are usually finished around noon. Show up about 7:30 to 8:00 to sign up, get a bench and targets and start to have fun. The Rimfire is first so if you want to shoot the other Classes you can show up a little later but not much more than 30 minutes.
ARA, by Ed Camp
For our new members, ARA is American Rimfire Association and your scores are sent to them for National records, published in their monthly journals. If you are a little vane and wish to see your name in print and read nationwide, come out and compete in this challenging rifle sport. Pioneer has now been participating for 16 years.
This is .22 caliber Long Rifle shot at 50 yards from the bench at 150 small targets. The scoring is “worst edge” so if your shot crosses the scoring line into the other score you get the lower point, not the higher as is usual with most targets. You will need a 22-caliber rifle, a good scope and 200 rounds of ammo. Sighter hits on targets are mandatory. This is a true “wind game” as it does not take much wind to blow the light 22 bullet off course and out of the 100-score ring. A perfect target is 2500 points and we have not had one of those for many years. You shoot 6 target sheets, each with 25 bullseye targets are it worth a maximum 100 points each, so 2500 maximum points per sheet. As you will see from the following scores the winds were blowing this FORTH Sunday, making it difficult to make those 100 points each time. Come out to watch or come out to shoot, either way I guarantee you will learn something about shooting.

Junior News, by Ed Camp
Currently our Junior Marksmanship Program is shut down. First it was the Corvid and the range was closed but now the heat makes the range over 90 degrees inside, even later at night. So, in the interest of health, mine, and Bob’s, we probably will not be starting up until September. This is the first time I have cancelled due to heat in the years I have been director. If you have a youth 12 years old and older, please call me and I will gladly let you know what we do.
