the Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and AI.

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has

emerged as a thriving field from industry utility and

employability point of view. This market is likely to swell

to USD 20 billion by 2025. Companies are getting

increasingly reliant on data backed intelligence and are eager to hire data

professionals who can make sense of the information their respective businesses

collect day in and day out. With the fast-paced expansion of the AI/ML job market,

the skill gap is becoming a reason for worry. The employer demand for AI skill out

striped job seekers by 2.2 times in June 2018.

To cater to the upskilling needs of IT professionals and to meet the industry

requirements, IIIT-D in collaboration with IBM has launched a nine months long

PG Diploma in Data Science and AI (PGDDS & AI). The entire program will be

conducted online on the weekends.

This course aims to provide an introduction to the scientific approaches and to

the quantitative analysis of industry-scale data using the methods from a wide

variety of disciplines including statistics, mathematics, algorithmic, optimization,

machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Our industry collaboration will allow

the participants to get ample opportunities to work on real-life data science

projects. The course will be taught by IIIT-D faculty members as well as by IBM

leaders in Analytics.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi was established as a State

wide gap between the demand and supply of skilled professionals in the field of

Data Science. To bridge the gap there is a need for credible programs on Data

Jainendra Shukla Assistant Professor (CSE, HCD)

He completed his PhD from Universitat Rovira I Virgili (URV), Spain. He

is the recipient of the prestigious Industrial Doctorate research grant by

AGAUR, Government of Spain. His research interest lie in the

intersection of Human-Robot Interaction, Machine Learning, and

Psychology.

Anubha Gupta Professor (ECE), PhD (2006), IIT-Delhi

She received her PhD in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2006.

She even worked as a project manager on a state policy related

education project at the University System of Maryland, USA. Her

research interests are Statistical Signal Processing, Machine Learning,

and Biomedical Signal and Image Processing.

Gaurav Arora Assistant Professor (SSH)

He is a recipient of the Faculty Research Fellowship (2020-2022) at IIIT-

D; the James R. Prescott scholarship (2016) for outstanding creativity in

research at Iowa State University (ISU); and the Earl O. Heady

Fellowship (2012) for academic excellence in ISU. He was inducted as

an honorary life member to the Indian Society of Ecological Economics

in 2019. He obtained PhD in Economics from Iowa State University.

Gaurav Ahuja Assistant Professor (CB)

He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computational

Biology. He obtained his PhD degree from University of Cologne,

Germany, in 2015 and harbors expertise in analyzing Big Biological Data.

Vikram Goyal Head, Associate Professor (CSE)

He completed his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT

Delhi in 2009. He has a couple of Projects from DST, India and Deity,

India on problems related to Privacy in Location-based Services and

Digitized Document Fraud Detection. His research interests are Data

Mining, Databases and Spatial Data Analytics.

Debarka Sengupta Associate Professor (CB, CSE)

He received his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University. Afterwards, he spent two and a half years as a

post-doctoral research fellow at the Genome Institute of Singapore. His

U.S. patent on applied social choice theory was awarded by the patent monetization giant Intellectual Ventures. His research interests are Applied Machine Learning and Genomics.

Rajiv Raman Associate Professor (CSE, Math)

He received his PhD from University of Iowa, USA in 2007. He has also

worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for

informatics in Germany and at the Centre for Discrete Mathematics and

Applications at the University of Warwick. His research interests lie in

Algorithms, Graphs Theory, and Combinatorial Optimization

Ganesh Bagler Associate Professor (CB)

He received his PhD in 2007 from CSIR- Centre for Cellular and

Molecular Biology. His research interests lie in Complex Systems,

Computational and Systems Biology, Complex Networks,

Bioinformatics, Modelling and analysis of Biological Data.

Tavpritesh Sethi Assistant Professor (CB)

He received his PhD from CSIR- Institute of Genomics and Integrative

Biology in 2014. Dr. Sethi is a member of the European Association of

Systems Medicine and leads the Australasia region for International

Associatiom of Systems and Networks Medicine. His research interests

are Biomedical Informatics, AI in healthcare, and Systems and Networks

Medicine.

Angshul Majumdar Associate Professor (ECE)

He completed his PhD from the University of British Columbia in 2012; he finished his thesis in a record time of less than two years. His research interests are in algorithms and applications of sparse signal recovery and low rank matrix recovery.
