Pfeffer MXsteering
Models and characterizes hydraulic and electromechanical steering systems such as Column, Pinion or Rack-type. The 3 DOF model is real-time capable and provides high- and low-frequency behavior with different friction, stiffness and damping parameters down to component level. Also user defined ECUs models can be easily implemented. It is suitable for the simulation and analysis of NVH, steering feel and handling.
The model is already implemented in IPG CarMaker and VI-CarRealTime. It can be used also in Simulink or in conjunction with other tools.
Pfeffer MXsteering model computes the steering wheel torque very precisely!This is essential for steering feel development and optimizations.

Mechanical Module:
Three degree of freedom:Upper Column, Lower Column and Rack.
Column is modelled as two sets of Spring-damper linked with cardan joint.
Frictions are applied to the lowercolumn and rack with advancedfriction models.

EPS - Column Assist:
Typically power assist unit is a compact component installed at the upper column including the torsion bar.
Therefore the assist torque is applied directly at the upper column. The torsion bar friction is considered.

Typically power assist unit is a compact component installed above the pinion including the torsion bar.
Therefore the assist torque is applied directly at the lower column. The torsion bar friction is considered.
