Petrobras P-56 Development
Engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of rigid pipelines and associated subsea equipment for Petrobras’ (Petroleo Brasileiro S/A) P-56 development at the deepwater Marlim Sul Field in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil.
The offshore pipeline installation campaign took place between 2010 and first quarter of 2011 utilising Subsea 7’s pipelay vessel the Seven Oceans, and the ROV support vessel the Seisranger.

OverviewSubsea 7’s scope of work included the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of rigid pipelines and associated subsea equipment for Petrobras’ (Petroleo Brasileiro S/A) P-56 development at the deepwater Marlim Sul Field in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil. Two 12” rigid steel oil pipelines (13km long) were connected to the semi-submersible P-56 platform and to the P-38 FPSO, each one with two in-line Ts and a PLET at both ends. A 10” rigid steel (8.6km) gas export pipeline was connected to the P-56 platform (with a PLET) and to the semi-submersible P-51 platform (with a PLEM).
Subsea 7 performed:
• Detailed design engineering of pipeline system• Procurement of line pipe, coatings and all other project
materials and installation aids• Engineering to prepare all procedures and materials to
perform the installation• Fabrication of pipeline stalks• Installation of the three rigid pipelines• Pre-commissioning of the rigid pipelines• Flooding and hydrostatic testing of the rigid lines• Pipelines were connected with PLETs supplied by
Subsea 7.
All engineering and project management work was conducted at Subsea 7’s offices, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the fabrication of the rigid pipeline was carried out at Subsea 7’s pipeline fabrication spoolbase at Ubu, Brazil. Engineering works was shared between Subsea 7`s offices at Niterói and the UK.
