The Herald & Review’s Newspapers In Educationprogram gets students acquainted withnewspaper reading. Studies have shownnewspapers in the classroom help increase testscores and encourage community involvement.
This innovative program provided more than 300,000 newspapers to 163 teachers and several thousandstudents in Central Illinois classrooms during the 2009-2010 school year. The newspaper is the most up-to-datetextbook available. A new “textbook” is printed each and every day. Besides current events, the Herald & Reviewhelps students learn a variety of subjects, from math to science to geography. And because it’s a different kind oftextbook, it makes learning fun.
Proceeds from our VIP Very Important Pets contest are used to support this very worthwhile program. Sowhile you are helping make a pet (or pet owner’s) dream come true, know that you are also helping local students.
