Pet Cetera Shelter Updates

Foster Care

Fostering is one of the most rewarding experiences one can have.

We couldn't save as many lives as we do without the dedication of

our foster parents.

Each year we take in lots of animals who are not quite ready to be

in the shelter environment due to their age, health, or well being.

This year we have placed over 100 animals in foster care. As we

take in more and more animals throughout the year, we are always

looking for fosters to open their home to an animal in need.

As a foster, one is responsible for providing a temporary, caring

environment in the privacy of your home for a sick, injured, new-

born, or otherwise needful animal. The goal is to return the animal

to the shelter as a healthy, socialized, adoptable companion.

What animals need fostering?

All kinds of animals!

The Quincy Humane Society is always looking for more fosters!

There is no set amount of times you need to foster, it’s strictly on

your availability. We provide all of the necessary supplies for each

foster opportunity and fosters provide the loving environment.

Interested in becoming a foster?

Contact Pilar at 217-223-8786 or email [email protected]

Shelter Updates In Loving Memory Back in 2014, we shared the success story of one of

our favorite furry friends, Cora. She was adopted in

March of 2014 after being here at Quincy Humane

Society for quite some time. While her adoption

day was a bittersweet day, Cora’s life following

was nothing short of amazing!

Once Cora made her way to her forever home,

her owner stayed in contact with the staff at

Quincy Humane Society to keep us up to date on

the wonderful life that Cora now had! Cora settled

in and was comfortable in her new bed not too long after sniffing out her new home. She

was given unconditional love and she in return loved her family unconditionally.

In May of 2016, Cora was diagnosed with diabetes and was receiving insulin injections daily.

Not long after her diagnosis, she suffered from a spinal injury. She lost strength in legs and

lost the ability to go up or down the stairs . While she was on restricted movement in the

house, as long as she was next to her loyal companion, the pain didn't seem to bother her.

We recently received word of Cora’s passing and we remember our memories of her and

all of our furry friends from Quincy Humane Society who have crossed over the Rainbow

Bridge.
