One of the most famous gold coins ever issued, the sovereign, still reignssupreme with a new adaptation of the first Type I design issued by theSydney Mint in June 1855.

In keeping with tradition, the 2013 Australian Sovereignis struck from 91.67% (22 carat) pure gold.

The title wording of PERTH MINT heads the classic colonialreverse design created by Leonard Charles Wyon. The historicelements include the St Edward's Crown, a laurel wreathand the inscriptions AUSTRALIA and SOVEREIGN.

Issued as Australian legal tender, no more than 1,750of these coins will be released by The Perth Mint ina prestigious wooden presentation case and shipperaccompanied by a numbered Certificate.

The fine detail and depth of designon this 99.9% pure silver high reliefcoin is sure to make an impression.

The coin's contemporary reversedepicts two young kookaburras restingon a tree branch above a spray of bushflowers, headed by the inscriptionAUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA. Thedesign also includes The Perth Mint's‘P' mintmark.

Following the and drawing inspiration from Britain's imperialmonetary system, Australia's first bills featured a tri-coloured tone and theAustralian Coat of Arms. Introduced in May 1913, Australia's first banknotewas numbered during an official ceremony at the Kings Warehouse.

The reverse of the 99.9% pure silver coin features a coloured representation ofthe first ten shilling banknote. An official 60c stamp and a $2.60 stampcomplete the commemorative set with a portrayal of the historic launch eventand the nation's heraldic emblem.
