As the general manager of EnergyUnited Propane, I’m

the guy who is ultimately respon-sible for the satisfaction of every one of our customers. But, clearly, I’m not the one who actually makes that happen.

This really hit home the day I drove along with Jamie Ferrell while he made deliveries in Badin Lake. When Jamie and I arrived at one house, the homeowner came out with a look of concern on his face. He was afraid I was taking over Jamie’s route. He let me know in no uncertain terms how unhappy he would be if Jamie no longer made his deliveries.

This is not an unusual thing for me to hear. I regularly get calls or emails

about something our employees did for our customers that impressed them, made them smile or helped them out of a tough situation.

Propane is a great, versatile fuel for heating things. But it

can’t take care of you. That’s our job.

And fortunately, we have some terrific people, like Jamie, who want nothing

more than to have you feel good about EnergyUnited Propane.

Q: What kind of fuel purchase options are you offering this year?

A: We offer more choices than most fuel dealers. We want to give you flexibility to choose the approach that works best for you.

Most of our customers feel best about our regular market rate because it allows their price to float up and down with the market. It feels less risky and complicated to them.

However, we do have programs for customers who prefer to lock in a rate, including our pre-buy program. Just remember that if you choose to lock in your rate, we cannot change it during the lock in period, because we will already have secured your fuel supply at that price.

inside a garage or covered patio. Your grill should also be placed away from any low-hanging tree branches.

n Make sure the grill is clean, in order to prevent flare-ups. Also check hoses for kinks or any deterioration.

n Keep the cover open until you are sure the grill is lit —even if you have an electronic ignition.

n When you’re finished, make sure to turn off the burner control and close the cylinder valve.

n Propane cylinders should always be kept in an upright (vertical) position when stored or transported.

n When refilling or replacing your tank, transport it in a well-ventilated or air-conditioned area of your vehicle — not the trunk — and bring it home immediately.

n When taking your tank to be refilled, check for dents, rust or leaks.

n Always store propane cylinders outdoors — not in a garage or shed.

Q : I’m on automatic delivery. Do you always have to fill my tank?

A : We typically fill the tanks of automatic delivery customers because it’s the best way to accurately predict

when the next delivery will be needed; it also allows us to keep your price lower by improving the efficiency of our deliveries.

Some customers request partial deliveries because they don’t have the money to easily pay for a fill-up. A better solution is our Smart Buy program. Instead of paying for each delivery as you receive it, you can spread your annual fuel purchases out over the

course of the year. It makes the timing and size of deliveries irrelevant, because you always pay one lower monthly amount.

Other customers believe they can somehow “time the market” and figure out exactly when they should buy their propane. We’ve been at this for decades, and we sure can’t do that. Propane prices don’t follow a predictable pattern anymore.
