Also we may have missed your favoritre app too. But, most of these daily apps you will find useful. John Abraham hasn’t had a big release in some time. And that cer- tainly has made the actor impa- tient. He is eagerly waiting for his upcoming film Rocky Handsome. The actor spoke to Gaurav Sharma This is your second outing with Nishikant Kamat and this too is an action film. (Smiles) Yes, it is nice to be back with Nishikant once again. We did Force in 2011 and it was big hit. The best thing about Force was it was raw action that we had shown and the audience liked it. The kind of action we had shown in Force was not high on spe- cial effects but more about power and hand-to-hand and combat. It was a stylized film. This time too Nishikant has done a done a great job. Rocky Hand- some too is high on action with a lovely story and the action and the story complement each other. But the film got an A-certificate. Yes, we were quite surprised because we were not expecting it. The only reason for the film getting an A certificate is because of the action. We have tried to show action in a very different way in this film but unfortunately we were given an A certificate but you can’t help it. If there is action in a film it means it will show a lot of blood but everything isn’t in our hands. We have tried to show action in a very sleek and styl- ized manner. They could have given us a U/A certifi- cate but we unfortunate. Will that actually keep a section of the audience, primarily the youngsters, away from your film? I don’t think so. We applied for a U/A certificate but we were told that the film deals with people who are more than 16 years old. So we couldn’t do much. But the film has a very touching story and I am con- fident about a lot of youngsters watching the film. You too had to work a lot on your body for this film. See (Smiles) I am already a fitness freak but this film did definitely demand a lot more from me. Since we wanted to show raw hand-to-hand combat and that too in the most stylized form, Nishikant wanted me to learn two action forms Aikido and Hapkido, for which I had to spend a lot of time in Thailand. I also stayed there in a shanty and used to take a tuk- tuk to travel to the place where some of the greatest and best Aikido and Hapkido fighters train. It was a very rigorous schedule and I had to at times train for more than 14-15 hours. We have some very high- octane action scenes in the film and that will give the audience an understanding of the kind of hard work that went into shooting all those sequences. You are also making a sequel to Force. Yes, Force 2 is again going to be high on action and I am really hopeful about the film. Once again a lot of hard work went into Force 2. In fact, you fractured your knee during the shoot of Force 2. That was a nightmare. We were in Hungary when the incident happened and as language was a big problem, things became even more difficult. The doctors failed to understand what I wanted to say and in the end I was lying in bed with morphine in my body. I had to undergo three surgeries but that’s fine. I am ready to walk the extra mile if the role demands extra effort from me. You will be seen alongside Shruti Hassan in Rocky handsome. (Smiles) Oh I must she that she is a very commit- ted actress and I really liked her professionalism. She has done a very good job in the film and I am sure people will like her character and performance in the film. You are also producing quite a few inter- esting films. Is it a conscious decision to pro- duce films on unconventional subjects? To some extent yes but it is not that I keep look- ing for subjects that are unconventional. The basic idea is to produce films that have good stories that will entertain the audience. But first and foremost, one has to believe in a subject. If I believe in a sub- ject and feel that this story needs to be told and have the confidence that it will be accepted then I go for it. A film is not always about big stars but it is all about a good story told in a very simple style. (TWF) SUNDAY, MARCH 20, 2016 (PAGE-4) PERSONALITY HEALTHLINES SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY How hopeful are you of winning a medal in Rio? I am very confident about winning a medal at Rio. I fully concentrate on my training and I am giving my best effort. After all, it is Olympics and the completion will be tough, even the qualifying rounds. Winning or not will be decided by my hard work and Almighty God, who is in control. Tell us a bit about your preparation. How is it shaping up? I spend most of my time at the National Training Camp. It’s been more than two months that I am away from home. I train with different coaches and sparring partners. Besides national camp, I also train separately with trainers of my choice. I am grateful to the Ministry of Sports for seeing into all my needs towards my training, also my team for all the supports, in terms of planning, suggestions and logistic arrangements. You have already said that you'll retire post the Rio Olympics, are you going to reconsider that decision? As of now, NO. But let us see if there be a brighter platform. What is the plan from here on? What do you plan to do post retirement? For the moment, my complete concentra- tion is on training for the Rio Olympics in August. As the saying goes, “change is the only constant thing”. One of my ambition is to give a fillip to boxing in India. Towards this, I have set up a Boxing Academy in Manipur where I will personally train my students and will try to give the academy/foundation the best shape I can. The academy is sponsored by SAI and powered by Herbalife. Women were only allowed to contest in and from the 2012 London Olympics, do you think if it was done earlier (allowed) you could have won some more Olympic medals? Surely, I could have bagged more and bet- ter medals if Women’s boxing was included in Olympics earlier than 2012. How do you prepare yourself before a game? How do you moti- vate yourself? Firstly, nothing can be achieved without efforts. And to win some- thing; we must be willing to sacri- fice something. I have made a lot of sacrifices to achieve my cur- rent state. Secondly, it is impor- tant to identify one’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and work towards devel- oping them. My passion for box- ing and the sharp focus in training are my two strong pillars. This will be my last attempt for Olympics, and I need to do/give my best… this is how I motivate myself. Talk to us about your diet. Sportspersons need loads of energy and strength to endure throughout their games. And boxing, being a high endurance sport, energy and strength are at the top of the lad- der. Upon that, boxing involves certain limits on our body weight; we cannot go lower or higher from the limit lay. As for me, once I start training, my weight goes down tremendously. I need to maintain it well along with being com- fortable and fit. For this reason, I carry with me local rice which is rich in starch, adequate sup- ply of Herbalife’s Formula 1 Mix Shake to sup- plement my requirement and Afresh Energy drink to stay energetic and alert throughout my training. Mary, once you retire, those are big gloves to fill. Who do you think will do it? I cannot say a word on this. Honestly, I am sometimes disappointed seeing the perform- ances of my juniors. I don’t say they are weak or hopeless, but I expect them to beat me, tak- ing into account my health condition and age. But they still aren’t able to. At the same time, like every profession, performance improves with practice and experience. I believe good and better boxers will come up with proper guidance. Winning all those gold medals and competitions, do you think you too could have pulled off Vijender's plan, given how successful he is now? Why didn't Mary Kom turn professional? It involves personal interest into it. More- over, I have better plan for myself and the coun- try in retiring. Would you want your kids to take up boxing, or say any other sport as a career choice? Children today are more informed and their exposure to things are very different compared to our days. It is entirely upto my children what they wish to do with their future. I am here to support and fuel their dreams and aspirations. How does it feel to have Herbalife as your sponsor? Are you using any of their products? I have a personal level relationship with Herbalife for a long time now. Herbalife has always stood by me. I have always appreciated their concerns towards me and my family. They are a part of my family. I am happy to have been associated with Herbalife. As I said earlier, Herbalife is partner of my boxing academy too. As for products, I use Formula 1, Afresh ener- gy drinks, protein powder (sometimes)and cosmetic products as well. Looking back into your life, so far, state your all time high moment. Though small, my first achievement in the 1st World Women’s Boxing Championship held at Pennsylvania USA, in 2002 winning Sil- ver remained one of the most exciting moments for me as it was my first experience in International level. After 10 years, winning Olympic medal in 2012 remained my all time high moment. In any sport, emotions run high and things can sometimes go against your way. How important is it to respect a decision and not let emotions take a front seat? How do you plan to tackle such a situation? Everybody in every field wants to win and is hard to accept loss/defeat. When I lose, it is hard for me too. But life is all about hits and misses.I always console myself saying, this is a game. Losing and winning are a part of it. Even if I lose today, I can still win tomorrow. It’s all about perseverance, determination and stay- ing at it that it crucial. What's your mantra for success? Hard work, passion, firm determination, confidence and faith.I have experienced mira- cles in my own life, especially on my wounds and situations. We shouldn’t ignore God’s blessings. Oral Health Day (WOHD) is celebrated every year on 20 March. It is an international day to celebrate the benefits of a healthy mouth and to promote worldwide awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene to looking after everyone old and young.Efforts are focussed on protecting the teeth and mouth of the population throughout life, from childhood to adult- hood. The theme is World Oral Health Day for 2016 is Celebrating Healthy Smiles because having a healthy mouth is cause for celebration! It is a day for people to have fun - a day that should be full of activities that make us laugh, sing and smile .Your oral health con- tributes to your overall health. And by practicing good oral hygiene habits you can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease and possibly some serious health issues Here are some healthy tips for the chil- dren having haemophilia to smile for life. Hemophiliais agroup hereditarygenetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to control blood clotting which is used to stop blood bleeding when a blood vessel is broken. There are two types of Hemophilia A & B.Hemophilia A is the commonest accounting for 85% of all cases of Hemophilia (incidence 1:5,000 live male births) & characterized by deficiency of factorVIII. Hemophilia B is characterized by factor 1X (incidence 1:30,000 live male births) There is spectrum of severity of Hemophilia defined as Mild, Mod- erate & Severe according to plasma levels of FVIII or FIX .Mild Hemophilia bleed only after surgery ,may not be diagnosed until a procedure such as a dental extraction causes a prolonged bleeding .Moderatehemophilia have few spontaneous bleeds but bleeds after minor trauma .Severe hemophilia have frequent spontaneous bleeds into muscles & weight bearing joints. Dentist plays a very crucial role in overall good health of all in general & in particular those with Hemophilia& other bleeding dis- orders. People who have bleeding disorder often require infusions of clotting factors or other medications to control bleeding. Patients with inhibitors to FVIII or FIX therapy should be managed by opti- mal prevention and early diagnosis along the philosophy of a 'Min- imumIntervention in Dentistry approach The two main dental diseases affecting all persons, including those with hemophilia are: Dental caries or Tooth decay Dental caries, commonly known as dental decay, is a diet-relat- ed transmissible infectious diseaseof the tooth structure whereby bacteria and bacterial by-products dissolve tooth structure. The main cause of tooth decay are unrestricted eating of sugars which is found in various forms like sweets cake, biscuits, choco- lates, candis & soft drinks . When there is continuous exposure to acidic attacks by contin- uous eating or drinking with any sugar-containing foods, then the acid attacks could proceed all day. This would result in rampant decay which will progressively cause the teeth to decay within a very short period and then to become unrestorable. This would have a catastrophic effect on any hemophilia patient particularly where replacement factor was unavailable or even restricted. Each "acid attack" lastsabout 20 minutes. After repeated "acidattacks," your teethbecome weak, and a holeor "cavity" is formed. People who have bleeding disorders should be taught from an early age to understand the importance of taking good care of their teeth and gums to prevent the need for invasive procedures which would require pre-treatment with expensive medication as well as longer recovery periods. Prevention it must be remembered that for patients with hemo- philia prevention of dental diseases is better, cheaper and safer than the treatment .So The delivery of dentistry has moved away from a treatment-focused approach to a preventive model of care. Stan- dard prevention is suitable for children who are low caries risk and enhanced prevention for children at increased risk of caries or allo- cated to a high caries risk category due to other factors (for exam- ple, a medical condition). All children with congenital bleeding dis- orders would be allocated as high caries risk due to the complexity and morbidity of treatment when caries does occur in this group of patients. The prevention of dental problems is an essential compo- nent of oral care.. Emphasis is placed on the importance of regular dental follow-up, with fluoride varnish (5%) placed three to four times per year, and the principles of tooth brushing to prevent den- tal caries and periodontal disease by removal of the biofilm of den- tal plaque In compliance with the guidelines of the World Federation of Hemophilia, we recommend the following: * Brush teeth and tongue for two minutes at least twice a day. * Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and brush gently so you do not damage your gums. * Don't share toothbrushes. * Get a new toothbrush every six months, use fl uoride tooth- paste. * Clean between your teeth with dental fl boss at least once a day. * Use mouth washes containing antibacterial & astringents like chlorhexidine Avoid tobacco products All tobacco productsare harmful, including"chew!" They cause: * Stained teeth * Bad breath * Gum disease * Addiction * Mouth and throat cancer soIf you are thinking about smoking - don't start. And if you smoke - quit before the damage is perma- nent Nutrition Tips for a Healthy Smile * Drink water or low-fat milk and stay away from sugary drinks like soda. * Don't eat too much candy or desserts that are high in sugar and stick to your teeth. * Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, meat & dairy products to promote healthy gums and teeth. It is a day for people to have fun - a day that should be full ofactivities that make us laugh, sing and smile .Your oral health con-tributes to your overall health. And by practicing good oral hygienehabits you can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease and possiblysome serious health issues Here are some healthy tips for the chil-dren having haemophilia to smile for life.

Hemophiliais agroup hereditarygenetic disorder that impairsthe body's ability to control blood clotting which is used to stopblood bleeding when a blood vessel is broken. There are two typesof Hemophilia A & B.Hemophilia A is the commonest accountingfor 85% of all cases of Hemophilia (incidence 1:5,000 live malebirths) & characterized by deficiency of factorVIII. Hemophilia Bis characterized by factor 1X (incidence 1:30,000 live male births)There is spectrum of severity of Hemophilia defined as Mild, Mod-erate & Severe according to plasma levels of FVIII or FIX .MildHemophilia bleed only after surgery ,may not be diagnosed until aprocedure such as a dental extraction causes a prolonged bleeding.Moderatehemophilia have few spontaneous bleeds but bleeds afterminor trauma .Severe hemophilia have frequent spontaneous bleedsinto muscles & weight bearing joints.

Dentist plays a very crucial role in overall good health of all ingeneral & in particular those with Hemophilia& other bleeding dis-orders. People who have bleeding disorder often require infusionsof clotting factors or other medications to control bleeding. Patientswith inhibitors to FVIII or FIX therapy should be managed by opti-mal prevention and early diagnosis along the philosophy of a 'Min-imumIntervention in Dentistry approach

The two main dental diseases affecting all persons, includingthose with hemophilia are:

Dental caries or Tooth decayDental caries, commonly known as dental decay, is a diet-relat-

ed transmissible infectious diseaseof the tooth structure wherebybacteria and bacterial by-products dissolve tooth structure.

The main cause of tooth decay are unrestricted eating of sugarswhich is found in various forms like sweets cake, biscuits, choco-lates,candis & soft drinks .

When there is continuous exposure to acidic attacks by contin-uous eating or drinking with any sugar-containing foods, then theacid attacks could proceed all day. This would result in rampantdecay which will progressively cause the teeth to decay within avery short period and then to become unrestorable. This would havea catastrophic effect on any hemophilia patient particularly wherereplacement factor was unavailable or even restricted.

Each "acid attack" lastsabout 20 minutes. After repeated "acidattacks," your teethbecome weak, and a

holeor "cavity" is formed.People who have bleeding disorders should be taught from an

early age to understand the importance of taking good care of their

teeth and gums to prevent the need for invasive procedures whichwould require pre-treatment with expensive medication as well aslonger recovery periods.

Prevention it must be remembered that for patients with hemo-philia prevention of dental diseases is better, cheaper and safer thanthe treatment .So The delivery of dentistry has moved away from atreatment-focused approach to a preventive model of care. Stan-dard prevention is suitable for children who are low caries risk andenhanced prevention for children at increased risk of caries or allo-cated to a high caries risk category due to other factors (for exam-ple, a medical condition). All children with congenital bleeding dis-orders would be allocated as high caries risk due to the complexityand morbidity of treatment when caries does occur in this group ofpatients. The prevention of dental problems is an essential compo-nent of oral care.. Emphasis is placed on the importance of regulardental follow-up, with fluoride varnish (5%) placed three to fourtimes per year, and the principles of tooth brushing to prevent den-tal caries and periodontal disease by removal of the biofilm of den-tal plaque
