What you are about to read is the result of me being in business for myselffor well over twenty years, and from being a best selling author ofmotivational and inspirational books. It is a blueprint a plan of actiondesigned to inspire you into action that is built upon the foundations of know-how and knowledge.

Throughout the years I have owned businesses in the fields of domestic andcommercial cleaning, publishing, musical theatre, web design, the hair salonindustry and now the blogging and online coaching industry.

So I could teach you a lot about business success, but from my years of

experience I have realised that business success is generally an overflow of amuch more vital and essential ingredient, and that being personal success.

However, without the skills and commitment that come from building abusiness, most people never get to the point where they can experiencepersonal success. That is why most people fail in life. And thats where I canhelp you.

Most people lack the right mindset and the necessary mental throughput totake ownership of their own personal success. Without congruency between

strategy and tactics, no amount of good advice, tips, techniques, case studieswill get you there. Success principles are universal, but success meansdifferent things to different people, and I will help you to clearly define yourown personal perception of what success means to you while helping you toachieve your own success, if you allow me.

Its my personal goal with this Personal Success Blueprint to open youreyes and expand your mind to the wonderful possibilities to be found in yourown, often untapped, potential. Prepare to be shocked, challenged, andfinally energized with a new workable attitude that will lead you to your own

    personal success.

    Heres to your success.

4506$7/!%5+/$.)*/",01$23--)//8How does one assess ones success? Is it by the size of the bank account? Isit by the number of accumulating assets that one has? Is it the level ofbusiness growth in the past quarter? Is it the quality of shares, bonds, stocksor even gold that one has been able to acquire?

How is success measured? Is it the strength of relationships, the number offriends, and the state of your family? Is it the fact that you can communicatewith your son or daughter on a heart to heart level?

Is it that you can part with possessions and give them to others without athought of loss? Is it the fact that you have time for the small and are notfazed by the big? Is it that when tragedy darkens your door that you canrespond in a state of peace? Is it that when storms rage you can stand firmas a rock? Is it that no matter how many times you get knocked down, youalways get up and go again?

Is success demonstrated by the car you drive, the house you live in? Or is itmore than the superficiality of what many call the trappings of success? Is itdeeper than that? Is it simply the fact that you can find what you love to doand do it, while at the same time earn your living from that very thing?

Or is it the fact that you have lived a life of influence? Or rather a life ofobedience to the reason you have been created?

Or is it to live true to yourself? Is it to hold on to your convictions or to dowhat is right even though it may mean that you must swim against the tide?

    What is this success?

For when you discover the answer to that question for yourself you will live alife of complete joy and satisfaction as a fulfilled and successful individual.

I love hanging around people who are passionate. They inspire me, theyrefire me, and they ignite the desire within me to be the very best me thatthere possibly can be. And that is why I hang around visionaries and go-getters and people who are far more successful than myself in their own fieldof endeavour.

Thats why when I read a book, that has really impacted my life, I write a

letter to the author or shoot off an email to them with positive comments andat times questions so that I can learn more. And in most cases I have

received a personal response back and have created a brand new friendship. These are my mentors, and I aspire to be as they are.

I refuse to spend a lot of time around people who are going nowhere. If I amto be led by anybody I must be following a leader who is going somewhere.

They must be on a mission if I am going to submit myself to their commissionand they must be passionately pursuing their vision, whatever that may be.

Passionate people dont stay long in a rut. They kick them out. And that iswhy passion will carry you through until the fulfilment of your vision.

And how do you develop passion? You discover your strengths the thingsthat you love doing and you do whatever it takes to use those strengthsand by so doing your life will be strengthened from strength to strength.

This is why we must read not only the books, but also the lives of those wecome in contact with on a daily basis.

Make observation your key obsession. Analyse your life participants andwatch the stories of lives around you unfold. And while you watch, learn. For

what you see is a mirror; a mirror of a motivated life.

There is a strange power in reality. In one day many cross my path and I findthat it is those who walk in reality who have the greatest impact on my life.In their life there are no facades, no hidden agendas, and no unwrittenproposals. They are real. What you see is what you get.

I find within these lives the greatest contribution and the greatest lessons. For these lives are lives that are walked in confidence. There is nothinghidden. There is nothing tucked away. When they speak they speak from the

heart. When they listen they listen from the soul.

But in a sense this is refreshing. They are not afraid of their humanity. Theyrecognise that within their frail form of humanness is contained numerousstrengths and alongside them lie a smattering of weaknesses.

But they do not focus on their weaknesses. They concentrate their efforts andtheir energies on the use of their strengths and treat their weaknesses likeone would treat a buzzing fly around ones head.

Reality Is Living What You Speak

There is one power though that is demonstrated in such a motivated life andit is this: to have an open loving heart and to allow that love to flow from thatheart.

For a loving heart is the beginning of knowledge.

A heart such as that will open the whole mind and will make the intellectalert. For it has been written that the heart sees further than the head. Itknows no boundaries and it refuses to be hemmed in.

When the head says no, the heart says yes. A life ruled by the heart is afree spirit that follows the pathway of faith and resists the power of fear. Forthe heart is a powerful warrior, when at times the head can be a slinkingcoward. Develop the heart as well as the head and you will know victory likeyou have never known before. But before you speak, keep silent unless youhave something to say.

Spend your time in reading and learning first and foremost and then and onlythen, as you equip yourself, your time will come when you will speak. But

whatever you do, do what you say and say what you do.

A True Thinker Is The One Who Thinks And Does

Make it your mission to under-promise and over-deliver in all that you do.

Imitate the motivated life. Reflect the mirror image of their experience. Sit at

their feet. Read their books. Listen to their words. Spend time in theirpresence and you will learn more about yourself and your ways. And it is onthis foundation that you can then begin to step-by-step build the firmfoundations of a successful and a very motivated life.

Be diligent in your study and your motivated life will not fail you. It will guideyou. It will drive you and it will sustain you all the way to victory.

A mirrored life reflects on not only what is, but on what is to become.

I was recently told that more millionaires are made in hard economic timesthan in good times.

Theyre a little bit like a donkey I read about. They develop the ability to takea disastrous situation and turn it around into a wonderful freeing opportunity, and it only takes them less than a minute to start thinking that way.

One day a farmers donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously

for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided theanimal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway, and that it justwasnt worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to comeover and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, thedonkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyones

amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finallylooked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovelof dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He wouldshake it off and take a step up. As the farmers neighbours continued toshovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edgeof the well and trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out ofthe well is to shake it off and take a step up.

Nothing can stop you from becoming a millionaire in less than a minute andfrom becoming successful in a second.

How can you step up into the millionaire membership in less than a minute?

Maybe change a few habits to start with.

The average self-made millionaire reads one book a month.

The average American looks at television six hours a day while the averageself-made millionaire looks at less than two hours of television.

Here is what we can learn from some millionaires

The Griffiths family founded a famous sanctuary for animals close to where Inow live here on the Gold Coast. It is now called the Currumbin WildlifeSanctuary.

At first the Griffiths had a little bush hut on the road frontage where theyused to grow and sell flowers, particularly gladioli. When the local lorikeetsdiscovered their flowers as a food source, they put in some beehives forhoney to distract them.

Eventually they were feeding so many lorikeets that they realised they werebetter business than the flowers, and their son, Alex, expanded the sanctuary

to where it is now. It was recently reported that when Alex died he was worthin excess of fifty million dollars.

Walt Disney dropped out of school, joined the army, came home to drawcartoons, started into business with a partner and failed and sold everythingto purchase a one-way ticket to California.

To his forty dollars, an imitation leather suitcase, one ill-matching suit andsome drawing materials he added a dream. He started a new company, suffered setbacks, endured two nervous breakdowns, sold his car, mortgaged

his house, borrowed more until he opened Disneyland, which became thebiggest attraction in America and made him a multi-millionaire.

    Where do you live?

    Scare City(scarcity) or Abundance Metropolis?

In order to get there though, you are going to have to cross De Nile, betterknown as the river denial.

    But what must you deny?

You must deny anything that would stop you from attaining success. Yes, thesuccess that youre so richly entitled to experience on planet earth.

You must decide once and for all that you live in the world of too muchrather than always focussing on the world of not enough.

Not enough is only an idea and once you learn how to replace it with themuch better idea of too much, watch how your perspective will be changedin an instant.

You can change your world if you only decide. Decide today to escape toabundance.

There are two ideas that you have a choice to accept. The first is the idea of

not enough found in Scare City (scarcity). The second is the idea of toomuch located in Abundance Metropolis.

Which idea are you going to concentrate your thoughts on?

For years I personally fought with the idea that the world was a world of notenough. But the facts are that poor people remain poor because that is the

only world that they know. However, rich thoughts create for you your ownworld of too much.

Whatever your reality is on the inside is the reality of what is on the outside.Your reality on the outside cannot and will not be changed until you change

    the reality on the inside.

Change your reality in your mind and heart, and you can change your addressonce and for all. And this is where you must constantly remind yourself thatthere does exist a world of too much.

The world of too much is a real world. It is a world for you and it is a worldfor me if we only choose to live in it and learn what it takes to live in it.

Choose Your World The World Of Too Much

Or The World Of Not Enough!Ask yourself these questions once more: What world am I living in? Where doyou spend your dreams? Where do you focus your thoughts? Whatvocabulary do you speak? Do you speak words of lack that are filled withlack-lustred excuses, or do your phrases expound the abundance of supplythat permeates everything you do? Do you worry or do you work with a

    purpose and a plan?

If you spend more time in the company of Naysayers and do nothings thenyou will live a dismal life.

However, if you choose to place yourself in an atmosphere of hope andpossibility and allow yourself to be prodded and your mind stretched, thenyou will rise up and above whatever life you are presently living.

What You Invest Into Your Life Now Will Determine WhereYou Spend The Rest Of It!

So what must you invest into your life if you are to escape Scare City andfind yourself in Abundance Metropolis?

    Time.

Where you spend your time today, tomorrow and the next day will determine

    the future that you purchase.

    Analyse your days.

How much time do you invest in personal development? How much time doyou spend in educating yourself in the art of rich living? How much time doyou read or listen to material that educates you in how you can start living

    the too much life?

How many seminars do you attend to keep you up to speed in your career, your business, your knowledge of those things that will lead you on to abetter life?

How much time do you spend in the presence of mentors? How much time doyou devote as a student of success?

Your time is your most precious commodity, so never waste a single drop.Drink deep and live well.

Great lives are the culmination of great thoughts followed by great actions.

Lets take a look at the word circumspection. Circumspection simply means toexamine carefully all the circumstances that may effect a determination or adecision and of being wary, vigilant, prudent and cautious.

These are the necessary ingredients for a life lived long and a life lived well; a

preserved life that rides through the storms, that weathers the winds ofchange and is kept in good shape as one pursues their dreams.

The old proverb tells us that in being discreet we will be preserved. Thatmeans that we will be sustained and that we will be kept or saved from harmor destruction.

In this day and age, where there is so much violence, it is something that isof major importance to those of us who have families.

But what are the characteristics of a discreet life? What qualities must youdevelop and what habits must you adopt in order to be preserved from thosethings that threaten your success on a daily basis?

Here are five points that I believe will assist you in your pursuit.

    1. Get The Facts

Never rely on hearsay. Go to the source and find out the facts. This relates toanything that you are involved in. Dont rely on the reporter. Go to the

reported. Whether it is investments, motivational formulas, or anything thatyou are interested in, make certain that you get as many viewpoints aspossible and then compare notes. Do your own research and never be relianton the so-called expertise of another without doing your own personalinvestigation. The reason so many of us make bad judgements is because wehave been mentally lazy.

    2. Find A Mentor

Mentors are available everywhere. You will be surprised how freelyinformation and input is available. People in general are more than willing to

share information with those who have a hunger and a willingness to learn. On the internet there are forums that allow you to ask questions and itcertainly provides a platform for you to discover your mentor. Once you havefound them, make certain that they walk the talk. By spending time withthem you will soon discover the truth behind their words, and through yourfriendship you will discover fortunes untold.

    3. The 100-1 Rule

I dont know if it is a law or not, but I have come across this principle time

and time again. I recently stumbled across it once again in an investmentproperty book. The writer stated that if you look at 100 properties, put in

  • 8/4/2019 Personal Success Blueprint

    15/72

    Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

    15

offers on 10, and try arranging financing for 3, you may end up buying 1. Inanother industry they recommended that if you talk to 100 people you willultimately end up with 1 person who will shine above all the rest. Success is anumbers game. Go through the numbers and you cannot but learn andsucceed.

    4. Be Vigilant

Dont relax in your success. Guard it wisely. I have seen so many people whohave had a taste of success and then they suddenly stop doing what gotthem success in the first place. They think that once they have it, it willremain forever. Not true. It requires vigilance and diligence. If before yousucceeded you read a book 20 minutes a day, then dont stop. If youattended seminars, then continue doing so. If you talked to a certain numberof people each day, then increase it. Whatever it took to get you where you

are, then dont decrease. Multiply your efforts. Work harder. Renew yourdream and go for it.

    5. Make Your Own Decisions

If you allow others to make decisions for your life, you will wake up one dayin a place that you never planned to be. Always, always, always make yourown decisions for your own life. Listen to the experts, but dont let them ruleyour decisions. Allow them to guide you, but become educated in the areathat the experts are operating so that you can then make your own qualified

decisions. Again, dont have a lazy mind. Rather, have a learned mind.

These five discretionary qualities will assist you in the preservation and thesustainment of a successful life. Apply them today and preserve your freedomto succeed.

Discreet lives are preserved for great achievements.

    9. Take risks and have fun.And as Earl Nightingale said, Excellence always sells.

    !"#$%"$G+11$;"3*$"6+H>"6+",$$What is motivation?

Motivation is the motivating force, stimulus, or influence.

    It is the incentive.

    It is the drive.

    It is the petrol.

    It is the spark.

    It is the dream.

    It is the idea.

    It is the inspiration.

It is the beginning of all things. For without motivation there will never be themoti-motion that is required to achieve the improbable and overcome theimpossible. And without the moti-motion therell never be the initial unveilingof motivation and the ongoing supply of energy that will maintain and sustainthe motivation.

It is what helped the creator of Hotmail to start a business in 1996 anddevelop it, without any business background and no money, to finally sell iton to Microsoft a few years later for $400 million.

It is what will take you where you want to go and have what you want to

    have in your life.

Hop on the train at Motivation Station and defy inflation, by causing asensation that will rock your nation

Then sail across the ocean in your yacht Moti-Motion, as you show truedevotion and you follow your emotion

But what really comes first? The motivation or the moti-motion.

    Lets find out!

Dont allow yourself to live your days as a lake of potential.

    Be a river.

Live a fluid life and flow.

For it is in flowing that theres the greatest growing and it is in the giving thattheres the greatest living.

Stop spinning your wheels, because all youll end up with is a rut.

Four-wheel drive your way through each day by tapping into your motivatingforce, by pursuing your stimulus and by discovering your influence. This is themotivation required to live a motivated life.

So where do you find your motivation?

Its all around you and its within you.

But in order for you to be motivated youre first going to have to act. Waitingfor motivation to drop into your lap will not be enough for you to experiencethe life you want to live. This is where moti-motion kicks in.

Motivation Plus Action = MOTI-MOTION!So here are a number of moti-motions that will add potion to your motivation.

    1. Read

I make it my habit to read on a daily basis. I read anything that will inspireme. My mind acts as a radar. I dont read rubbish. I read books ormagazines or newspapers or blogs or newsletters or journals that inspire me.

I skim through the no-brainer material and find stories of others who foughtagainst all odds and succeeded. I read positive material and refuse to wallowin negative renditions.

    2. Listen

I listen to inspirational music. I listen to inspirational speeches. I listen tosuccessful people. I listen to my own heart. I pay attention to theconversations of achievers. I tune in to reports on the radio or the Internetthat challenge me. I tune out from anything that doesnt support or

    encourage a motivated life.

    3. Watch

I watch inspirational movies and DVDs. I watch what other successful peopledo. I watch winners. I watch achievers in other fields of endeavour and drawprinciples of success from their lives.

    4. Dream

I dream my own dreams. I spend time thinking of where I want to go andhow Im going to get there. I tap into my imagination and see what can beand what will be. I become as a child and dream BIG dreams. To help yourimagination, place yourself in the position to experience your dream. Drive it,walk through it, smell it, taste it if you can and the tactile experience will beable to be recalled in the imagination of your mind.

As You Act, You Will Become!5. Write

I write my goals and dreams down on paper. I carry these with me whereverI go in my wallet. I refer to them regularly. When you write it, then you cansight it.

    6. Plan

Attach a date to your dreams and formulate a step by step plan. Dont leave

things to chance. Research, investigate and formulate a blueprint for yoursuccess.

    7. Evaluate

Dont just bungle along hoping that everything will be alright. I can assureyou that everything will not be alright unless you evaluate along the roadtowards your dreams. The winds of change blow infrequently and it is the one

with the plan who evaluates their progress along the way and jibes and tacks, adjusting the plan, finetuning the plan, who will win.

    8. Speak

Once he had reached the edge of the park, the entire group of onlookersstood up against someones fence, totally entranced by the majesty of heightthat had been achieved by such a slight structure.

John, our next door neighbour, asked, Can I have a hold of the kite? He was

the same age as David, so even though none of us little kids would haveever been allowed to hold the string, he was in for a chance.

To this day, I cant recall what exactly happened next. All I remember is thatthere was a point in the exchange when the string left both of their handssimultaneously.

We were all stunned as we watched the string ball, wrapped firmly around apiece of wood, dance across the park. It was dragged along at an incrediblyfast speed by the kite which was now even a smaller speck in the sky than

    before

What a site it must have been as a dozen kids were seen running , screamingand yelling across the park in pursuit of a piece of skipping wood. Not eventhe fastest runner in our school, and that was David, had a chance ofcatching it. The wind was too strong, the kite too high and the bouncingapparatus had had a clear head start before any of us could make chase.

The rest of the afternoon was spent unravelling the string from tree branches, power lines, roofs of houses, up and over wooden fences and across roads.

Finally, the damaged kite was recovered from someones backyard.Fortunately it hadnt been the cranky mans backyard; the one who likedcollecting kids soccer balls for a hobby. I could just imagine the sneer on hisface as he tried to fish a kite out of one of his trees.

This event certainly took the wind out of our sails for kite flying. The nexttime I flew a kite, I bought a ready made one, but I was always sure that Iflew it in the wide open spaces, far away from power lines and peoplesbackyards.

So what did we learn from the flight of the kite?

    1. The Height Of The Kite Determines The Sight

In everything you do choose to take the eagle view. Look down on yourcircumstances and dont ever allow yourself to suffer under thecircumstances. Circumstances were never made to be under. They werecreated to be above. Think of the kite when the pressure rises. Stand backfrom your circumstances and gain a fresh perspective. Look at it creatively bybrainstorming until you come up with an answer to solve the problem. Turnyour disadvantage into an advantage. Problems were created to be solved.

    2. Dont Let Go

Hang on tight to your dream. Dont let it go. Stay focussed on your goals. They are the string and the kite is your dream. Dont pass it to another, because they wont have the same vision that you have. Share the moment

with them, but dont let go of your individual dream.

    3. Choose Your Space Well

Set yourself up for a win by positioning yourself correctly. Research is vital atthis point. Dont just plunge ahead. Get the facts and stick with them. Be adetective and learn to make investigation your key weapon for success. Askquestions. Delve deep. Get input. Surround yourself with wise counsellors. Beone of the informed so that you can make successful decisions.

    4. Prepare For The Unexpected

Have a contingency plan in place. Develop a range of income sources. In yourspecialisation diversify. Those who plan for the unexpected will not besurprised. Theyll be ready. This is why we have insurance. This is why weplan in advance. This is why we are ready to adapt and swerve.

This is why we dont leave things to the last moment and by doing so we areever ready to succeed.

Any Enterprise Is Built By Wise Planning

Simple, yet powerful principles learnt that day when the kite got away, and aswe spent the rest of the day unravelling the disaster.

The secret though is to always seek to learn from the mistakes that are madealong the way. They can, at times, be your greatest teacher, if you are willingto learn.

Without problems there would never be a need for solutions, and withoutmistakes there would never be a reason for lessons learnt.

When the Wright brothers pronounced that they would be the first humans tofly, many people said that humans could and would never fly. This time, theycarried the glider almost to the top of Big Kill Devil Hill.

    Ready? asked Orville.

Ready, replied Wilbur from his prone position.

Safely in the air, Wilbur warped the wings. There was an instant response andWilbur glowed with joy. But as the glider curved, he became aware of a newinstability. He adjusted the controls. There was little response. True, theglider turned. Still although puzzled, he managed a safe landing.

On his fifth flight that day, Wilbur became aware of increased instability. Thenthe left wing dipped far too deeply. Frantically he pushed the elevator control. He was too late. The tip of the wing bit into the sand and he was hurledforward against the canvas elevator.

The birds all knew the secret of turning while in flight. But their secret was sodeep no one could solve it. People said it was impossible for a heavier-than-air machine to fly. But Wilbur and Orville determined to show the world that itcould and would be done.

    1. Take The Risks - But Avoid The Risky

Before the Wright brothers ever achieved the impossibility of flying, many alife was lost by those who sought to fly. In 1896 it is recorded that in theAugust of that year, Otto Lilienthal, the German glider enthusiast was killed

    during a glide.

However, when the two brothers sought a place to experiment, they knewthat they were going to fail and so found a very safe piece of ground to failon. They didnt jump off bridges or cliffs. They found a large flat piece ofground with a good strong wind and practiced failing until the day that theycould fly. The place was Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Because they took risks wisely, they were able to change the world forever.

I recently had a discussion with a successful property investor. His advicewas that before you ever pursue any venture; first have your exit strategy inplace.

Calculate the risk and ensure that even if failure occurs that you will bearound to pick yourself up, brush yourself off and push on once againtowards success.

    Yesterdays Impossibilities Are Todays Realities

    2. Speak Possibility

Learn the language of the achiever and the winner. Remove the phrases, Icant afford it or I cant do that, Thats impossible or Its never been donebefore out of your vocabulary.

By constantly thinking outside of the box, you will be setting yourself up fora rich and prosperous life.

    3. Control Your Reality

    Financial Reality:

If you find that financially you can never seem to make ends meet, then thebest thing for you to do is to have a financial check-up.

Find out exactly what you are spending and where your hard earned incomeis really going.

Prepare a budget. There are many tools available on the Internet that canhelp you with the process of taking hold of your financial reality. Go to yourfavourite search engine and type in budget planner.

    Health Reality:

Obviously we should check the reality of our health. I do this personally bytaking a physical at least once every two years. I service my car every 10,000km, so it is a good idea to take care of the vehicle that I live in 24 hours aday seven days a week.

Some years back I had a physical that revealed I had extremely high bloodcholesterol levels and by simply adjusting my diet and adding to it regularexercise, I was able to rectify that situation before it got too serious.

    Spiritual Reality:

I do a spiritual reality check-up every time I read the good book. Not onlydoes it keep my compass pointing in the right direction for my life, but I oftenget some great ideas for my future Motivational Memos.

Obviously there are many other areas of our life that require regular realitycheckups. Make a list and do your own analysis.

Possible Thinking Leads To Possible Action

    4. Expand Your Reality

When I took over the responsibility for my teenage sons education a numberof years ago I had incredible difficulty in getting him motivated about reading.

Now for someone who writes books I found it extremely difficult tounderstand, but thinking back to when I was his age I could more readily

    identify with the dilemma.

I realised that it was important for him to expand his reality so that he couldgrow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom. But how could I find his hotbutton?

I discovered it. I was reading a book that explained that one way a parenthelped his son to expand his reality was through the reading of biographies ofpeople who lived the lives that his son wanted to live.

So from that day he read books, written at his t reading and interest level, about Albert Einstein, Christopher Columbus, Johnny Appleseed, Susanna

Make Your Life A Life Of Beginnings And

A Life Of Never Endings! But how do you do that?

Here are five simple steps to guide you in your pursuit of an explosive life thatwill keep exploding all the way into eternity.

    1. Bury The Past

There are two types of past that we all experience and must bury.

One is the negative past. Now the best thing to do with that, and we all havesome part of our past lying in negative soil, is to bury it.

One person suggested that if you ever had anything of a negative naturecoming back up to your mind haunting you, then the best thing is to write iton a piece of paper and physically tear it up. Rip it into a million pieces if youwish. Really take out your aggression on that piece of paper. Burn it if youlike, but once and for all bury the old baggage.

    27

Even physically dig a hole in your backyard with a shovel and toss the tornpieces of paper in there if you wish, and say a prayer or two if you like. Theimportant thing is that you rid yourself of that negative past once and for all.Otherwise you will continue to be tripped up by your past for the rest of yourdays.

Second is the positive past. Bury this in your heart. Call up these positiveevents time and again for reinforcement of the fact that you are a winner andthat you are possessed with the ability to overcome, no matter thecircumstances.

Keep a list of these wins. Keep memorabilia in a success file if you wish. Oneway to keep a record of these events is to maintain a journal.

I have boxes full of old journals that I have kept in exercise books. To read

them from time to time is empowering.

    2. Dig Up The Dream

Life has a bad habit of overshadowing and burying dreams. Many of ourdreams were birthed in our lives when we were very young, and for somereason have been put aside or been left to have the dust of the years settleon them.

If youve lost it, go find your dream again.

Go on. Dont put it off. Go get it. Write it down.

Because once youve got your dream in place, there will be no stopping you.

    You will explode.

The dream will add years to your life and productivity to your years.

    3. Plant A New Seed

With the rediscovery, or the reignition of your dream, you must start to investin your life and in the lives of others.

But the facts are that if you are hungry, then how are you ever going to feedothers?

    Invest in yourself.

    Feed your dream.

Read and grow in knowledge and understanding of your chosen path. Readand inwardly digest. Gorge yourself if you like, because if you are full tooverflowing then you will then be more than able to feed those who come tobe fed.

Make learning your ambition, and listening your habit. Listen with both youreyes and your ears for there is so much to learn.

A seed planted in your life will ultimately produce a crop that will feed somany more than you could, at first, have ever imagined.

Seeds hold an incredible power within them that will ultimately multiply. Soplant a new seed.

First The Seed And Then The Harvest!4. Water The Crop

Planting a seed is not enough. You must spend time watering the seedthrough constant attention.

Read. Listen. Surround yourself with mentors. Keep the company oflikeminded positive people. Teach. Share. Write. Finetune your dream.Readdress your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals from time to time andsee if they still light the fire within your belly.

Track your progress and evaluate often.

Always remain teachable and correctable. Critics can at times sting, and yetbe some of our greatest tutors.

Stay on track. Dont allow yourself to be distracted or pulled aside from thepath you have chosen. But at the same time learn to recognize the breezes

that will gently blow your sails and guide your craft (life) in a more correctroute.

Whatever you do, always follow after peace in your own heart. Utilise yourstrengths and open yourself up to new learning experiences.

    5. Reap The Harvest

This is your finest hour: the ultimate fulfilment of your dream.

Dont forget though that the harvest time can at times require the greatestexpenditure of effort. So dont slacken off. Roll up your sleeves and pitch in.

Marie Curie achieved her dream. But even though it ultimately claimed herlife, her discovery has positively impacted the lives of millions throughout the

    world.

Abraham Lincoln didnt live much longer, after his second inauguration andthe restoration of peace after the Civil War, and yet he freed millions fromslavery both then and in the future.

Dreams are often paid with a high price, but a life lived without a dream is alife never lived.

One Christmas, amidst the opening of presents, the singing of carols and theenjoyment of Christmas lights, I found myself engrossed in a book written

about the life of one of the greatest men who lived last century, WinstonChurchill.

As my children played with their new found presents I was traversing throughthe battlefields of the Boer War and the 1st and 2nd World Wars with theman who guided the free world to victory in the 1940 s with the power ofhis pen and the majesty of his inspiring words. He was a motivator parexcellence.

He too lived in a time of incredible change and so spoke with great authority

when he said himself that: The only way a man can remain consistent amidchanging circumstances is to change with them while preserving the samedominating purpose.

Winston knew that he had been born for such an hour and when approachedto lead his nation, at the time of crisis, as Hitler and his hordes marchedacross Europe, he was able to write.I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for thistrial.

He knew that hed been born to lead and went on to state thatPower, for

the sake of lording it over fellow-creatures or adding to personal pomp, isrightly judged base. But power in a national crisis, when a man believes heknows what orders should be given, is a blessing. In any sphere of actionthere can be no comparison between the positions of number one andnumbers two, three, or four.

And it is for that reason that in his address to the House of Commons hespoke confidently, You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word:Victory victory at all costs, victory in spite of terror; victory, however longand hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival. At this

time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, Come, then, let us goforward together with our united strength.

Here was a man with a Dominating Purpose in life.

The only way a man can remain consistent amid changing circumstances is tochange with them while preserving the same dominating purpose.

Wise words from a wise man who backed up his words with dynamic action.

And now that we find ourselves in the 3rd Millennium B.C. we are bombardedwith an ever increasing rate of change that will swallow the masses, which

refuse to move with it, and yet will transport those who flow with it into aworld of incredible opportunity.

But first lets take a look at the word consistency. This word does not meanthat one has to remain firmly entrenched in the past. It speaks to me of the

need to be alert and of the importance of evaluating each and every event orevery circumstance that happens to pass our way.

Throughout Winstons political career, which spanned a period of 60 years, hewas known for changing political parties and for even contradicting his views.

The reason? Because he held true to his convictions and was willing tochange his views when changing circumstances called upon such change.

At times, I view things so much more differently with the passing of years.

Things that were of significant importance, and for which I rallied hard andlong for in my twenties, are now but a distant fog that lack relevance andeven the importance to even consider.

Walk With A Wise Man And Become Wise!Unfortunately, much wisdom often only comes through the years of

experience and the road far travelled.

However, immersed in the wisdom of the ages, through reading and throughthe association with much wiser men and women will certainly speed up theprocess.

    1. Change With The Changing Circumstances

There is only one way to change and that is to change.

Jump in the deep end and start swimming.

And how do you do that?

First you have to fix the interior and then, and only then, can you sort out theexterior.

Someone once told me that when people were set free from slavery, that youcan take the person out of slavery, but you cant take the slavery out of thepeople overnight.

The interiors architecture must be changed first and foremost before theexteriors beauty can begin to shine.

Thats why, if I dump a million dollars on your doorstep and you have neverhandled a million dollars in your life before, statistics tell us that the milliondollars will slip through your fingers in no time fast.

    So what do you do?

Become, as Robert Kiyosaki so eloquently shares, financially literate.

To be successful you must first think successful thoughts.

To win you must first think winning thoughts.

The battleground is found within your mind, and it is there that the battlemust be waged.

Positive thoughts injected into your life on a consistent basis, backed bypositive action, will lead to positive results.

That is one reason why I soak myself in the biographies of great men andwomen who have lived and are still living.

That is why I am always reading half a dozen books all at once and a fewextra on the side.

Walk With A Changed Man And Become Changed! That is why I read with pencil in hand and notebook at the ready waiting tocapture that thought that will leap from the page and be imbedded in mymind. 2. Preserve The Same Dominating Purpose

Winston Churchill was a man driven by destiny. He had an insatiable appetitefor hard work and for learning. Whether it was politics, painting, writing, journalism, bricklaying or any other pursuit, he was gleaning from others, reading and studying, and with that fill of information he would forge hisway ahead into the unknown with the confidence that nothing was impossible

    to him.

Did he always get it right? Was he infallible? No. His life was filled with flawsand he committed reprehensible errors that not only impacted his life buteven destroyed the lives of many others along the way.

And yet, he would rise up and above the black dog that often overwhelmedhim, left the errors committed behind him and pushed on ahead.

And that is what it takes if you are going to preserve the same dominating

    purpose throughout your lifetime.

Winston never forgot this, even when he was in the political wilderness thatlasted ten years before being called upon to lead his nation against Hitler.

With this example as our guide, each of us needs to ask ourselves:

    What is my dominating purpose?

    Thats right.

If I was to ask you to give me in one sentence what is your dominatingpurpose is, could you answer me?

He was an aggressive progressive and you too can be one.

Here are four qualities of an aggressive progressive?

    1. Invest In An Ongoing Education

One of the greatest investments you can make is in yourself.

This was once again reinforced in my own life recently when I watched ateenager I know spend $2000, of their hard earned money which they hadbeen earning at $6 an hour in a part-time job, on a course that would expandtheir financial education.

There were many other things that they could have spent their money on, butthey realised that if they invested this money now, that they would in turn

learn how to make so much more money in a far shorter period of time.

It always amazes me how many adults wince at paying $3000 -$5000 for athree day seminar and yet are willing to struggle for twenty years of their lifeand never change the way they think or act.

    2. Gain Access To Wise Counsel

Henry Ford was once accused of being ignorant. But the fact was that eventhough he didnt know the answers to TRIVIA-type questions, he knew peoplewho could get him the information, because he surrounded himself withexperts in their own specific fields of endeavour.

To be successful, you dont have to be good at everything. You need tosurround yourself with people who know more than you, and as you associate

with them more and more it wont be long before that knowledge willoverflow into your life.

    3. Acquire Knowledge

An aggressive progressive is hungry for the acquisition of knowledge.

They listen to recordings, they attend seminars, they read book after book

after book. They ask questions. They join forums on the Internet. They takeonline courses.

They seek out opportunities to learn from every circumstance and continue atall times to have the attitude of a student.

Some years ago, my family were the recipients of a special award that wasspecially created and handed to us by one of our close friends.

One of the facets of the award was for believing.

We had just pushed through two years of drought in a new business we hadstarted, and at times it didnt make much sense to push on.

During that period we had two choices. One was to push ahead and remaintrue to our dream; the other was to go back to doing what we hadsuccessfully done before. We chose to press on. With our bridges burnt wewere going to make certain that our actions backed up what we believed.

Believing or belief is a multi-faceted word that can portray a number of variedmeanings. On one side it has very much to do with underlying faith, but atthe same time we need to believe in our ability to achieve our goals.

One of the things that make believing a powerful force within ones life iswhen it is backed up with consistency.

If you say that youre one thing or another, or that you are going to dosomething, then it is important to make sure that your actions are consistentwith your words. Back up what you say with what you do, because belief is

    more than just words.

It is living out a lifestyle that clearly represents what you believe. In fact, belief is lifestyle. It is the backbone of any dream.

dirt track. Small boulders were dislodged and spat out down the hill as thevehicles wheels slipped and slid on the muddy earth. The engine revvedhigher and higher as the driver endeavoured to conquer the obstacle that layin his path. But again and again, there was one part of the steep gradientthat resisted the power of both man and machine.

There were half a dozen other vehicles lined up at the bottom of the hill andthe determination of all involved created an air of expectancy. One sixcylinder vehicle had already conquered the hill, but this four-cylinder wasmaking hard work of it.

We had come upon the scene at the top of the steep hill and after parkingour three vehicles, we joined the crowd which had gathered, both young andold, to watch the spectacle. A much smaller vehicle than the first was aboutto tackle the seemingly impossible.

    Quitting Isnt An Option

Quitting wasnt an option. This mountainous track had to yield and so, yetagain, the smaller vehicles engine cut through the bush silence as it onceagain sought to traverse over rock, dirt and gravel. Like a surf ski that cutsthrough the surf, the vehicle cut through the dirt as if it was gliding over thevery rocks that had resisted its path time and time again.

Before we could catch our breath it finally conquered the hill.

Cheers erupted both at the bottom and the top of the steep gradient. Yetanother victory in Chichester Forest on a long weekends camping trip.

Belief Must Be Backed By Action! This event demonstrated to me that belief is a multi-faceted word thatrequires the additional ingredients of visualisation, action and support in order

for a result to be successfully arrived at.

The drivers of the vehicles showed their belief by:

    1. Believing that the mountainous track could be conquered.

Inherent in each of the drivers that chose to conquer this seeminglyimpossible track was that they never considered not conquering it. They justsimply sought the way to reach the top. It was never a question of will we? Itwas rather 'when' will we?

    2. Surrounding themselves with a cheer squad of fellow believers.

    39

It is so important to surround yourself with a support group of fellowbelievers. Choose them wisely. You dont need opposition. You requireencouragement all the way. They in turn add power to your belief.

    3. Visualising themselves at the top of the mountainous track.

Each of the drivers saw them and their vehicle at the top. They evenvisualised how they were to overcome any hindrances along the way. Theirmental picture was always one of complete and utter victory.

    4. Driving their vehicle to the top.

There came a point when they had to hop in their vehicle and drive. They hadto drive it hard, fast and smart. This action supported by their belief got thejob done.

Be as the drivers of these four-wheel drive vehicles. Your vehicle is your lifeand you are worthy of great success.

Believe that you can and you will.

Why you may ask? Because no matter how much I put into it, it neverexplodes. It is a reservoir that is always thirsty for fresh revelation and newinsight. It is hungrier than a lion and more voracious than a tiger.

In addition I have a notepad and a pen beside my bed to jot down thosethoughts that fly into my head and wake me up at 2.00 am in the morning.

My most precious possession you might ask? My personal library.so letsexplore how you too can magnify or expand your mind.

How many books do I read at once? I generally have three or four going all atonce in order to magnify my mind.

I have met many people in my lifetime who declare that Im not a reader.Well, I have a son who tried to convince me of that fact. And if you wouldhave taken a look at his previous reading track record, all of us, including histeachers, would have agreed that he was not a reader.

But it wasnt until I hit his hot button and found out that he had a keen

interest in reading autobiographies and biographies, that overnight he wastransformed from a non-reader into a reader.

Every night, before he went to sleep, I found him reading. Did he like everybook that he picked up to read? No.

The fact is that Im the same.

You dont have to read every book you pick up. If it doesnt hit the spot or thewriter is atrocious, or for whatever reason, toss it. But dont stop there.

Search out another book. Find another subject that inspires you and interestsyou.

Read Books And You Will Rewrite Your Life!As a motivational writer I can tell you this, that at times the last book I wantto read is a motivational book. I live motivation, dream motivation, eatmotivation, write motivation 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

So there are times when I need a sabbatical in my reading habits.

So where do I head? I read books on gardening, others on artists, particularlythe Impressionist breed, but even of late have branched out into moremodern areas. I read autobiographies and biographies.

I tend to find myself wanting to know the author behind the book, or theartist behind the art, the musician behind the music or rather the architectbehind the architecture.

In fact, there is one famous author, who I personally dont like his style ofwriting, but when it came to his autobiography, I loved that. I still haventread any of his books, but I learnt an immense amount from reading abouthis interesting life.

The Secret To Mind Magnification: Turn Off

The TV And Turn On To A Book! Here are some guidelines to get you back on track, if you are presently a nonreader.

    What should I read?

Define your personal interests and start there. I personally found in the earlydays that motivational books inspired me, but since then my tastes havefurther developed. For every motivational book I read, I probably read four orfive other books. Its amazing that from those non-motivational books Ialways seem to find motivational material that is of benefit to me and others.

How often should I read? Every day.

How long should I read? If it has not been your habit to read in the past, then

start with a page a day. Or if the chapters are short, a chapter a day. Developthe success habit of reading daily and the quantity of what you read willgradually increase. Your reading ability will also improve.

Where should I read? Everywhere. When I have an appointment, I always

take a book with me. Some people like to read before they sleep of a night

while others like the morning vigil. Find what suits your personality andpersonal habits through experimentation.

I dont have money to spend on books? Join your local library. It is there thatyou will find a tremendous resource. I have of late started to purchase

investment books once a month, but always at a discounted price.

    Just one other suggestion:

If you still have difficulty reading, there are so many audio programs availablewhere you can listen to books being read to you. There are also a range ofservices that will provide you with book summaries.

Search the Internet for these services, and whatever you do, you owe it toyourself, and to your ongoing education, to make reading a daily habit as you

    build your successful life.

Magnify your mind and watch your life expand explosively.

I once attended a seminar and in the middle of the session they played aportion of the video Chicken Run.

Heres the section that they played. To put it in context, Ginger the chicken

has time and time again endeavoured to organise a mass escape from thechicken farm without any success.

One of the chickens, who had failed to produce eggs, has just been executedby the farmer, and so a meeting has been called by Ginger with all thechickens in attendance.

Here is part of their conversation

Then laying eggs all your life and then getting plucked, stuffed and roasted is

good enough for you, is it?

    Its a living.

You know what the problem is? The fences arent just around the farm;theyre up here in your heads. Theres a better place out there. Somewherebeyond that hill has wide open spaces with lots of trees and grass. Can youimagine that? Cool green grass.

How do you know that youre wealthy?

When youre able to do what you want, when you want, with whom youwant, wherever you want and as much as you want as soon as you want.

When youre able to choose whether you work or not. When youre able topursue work that excites you. When youre able to spend quality time withyour family and friends. However, for the vast majority of us, our conventional school education neverprepared us for such a lifestyle.

In school we are told to work hard to get good grades so that we can get agood job and work hard the rest of our life and pay taxes.

Does school ever teach you how to make money?

Does school teach you how to pay less taxes?

Does school teach you to copy successful people?

No it teaches us to be on time, take work home, dont talk back, keepworking and dont question what youre doing.

However, just like the chicken farm, this type of education is setting up mostpeople for a life of failure and misery.

Youll Never Know The How Until

You Have Worked Out The Why!So how do you break out of this cycle of despair?

Well first lets look at some statistics. Even though these are the Australianstatistics, they are transferrable to other countries around the world.

Most Australians at the age of 65 end up either dead or broke.

What does broke mean? They rely on others support, handouts, pensions, donations, family and friends and/or superannuation.

81% of Australians, who make it to 65 years of age, live on less than $450 aweek. They are dependent on the pension. Only 1.2% of Australians, that

make it to 65, earn $1000 a week or more.

Why do 95% of Australians aged 65 retire broke? Poor wealth psychology, never started to invest, too much money spent on bad debt, too lazy or toobusy to invest or too afraid to invest in their own education.

The First And Best Investment Is In Your Own Education

So how do most people make decisions? Advice from others.

But how do professionals make decisions? They get an education and theyfollow a system.

What is a system? It is a set of rules that you abide by and never break.

Successful people invest both time and money on their own education andnever rely on anyone else to invest their money. They make all the decisions.

And when it comes to a system, there are two ways to do this. You can spendhours and hours trying to make one, or else find someone who is successfuland copy them.

So what is my challenge to you?

Attend investment seminars. Every Saturday in our local newspaper there arealways an abundance of free introductory seminars that one can attend. Iattended three just this past week. From those choose the ones that willbenefit you most and then spend the money and invest in your ongoing

education. Once you learn it, then apply it. There is power in appliedknowledge.

And if there is a million to one chance that you could take your life andsuddenly transform it, then I dare you to take it.

The best form of real estate to invest in is found between your ears.

Its great to win, but beware of satisfaction.

The tendency for many humans is to begin to cruise or settle back when theyexperience a few wins. But the fact is that if youre not moving forward, youre probably going backwards.

So what are some ways to ensure that youre not overtaken by a satisfactionrelapse?

Have a fresh goal in place that will keep your motivation fires burning. Place yourself in an environment of growth, because growth demands

change. Make yourself accountable to someone who wants you to win. Pronounce your new goal out loud for others to hear, and then you

will have to keep moving forward. Surround yourself with people who are more successful than you. Embrace problems and chase challenges until you see victory. Think creatively.

So I suppose my point is this: Live in a constant state of dissatisfied

satisfaction and always choose to break out of your comfort zone.

A number of years ago I sent my 16 year old daughter on a mission. Themission was this: to purchase a new vehicle for our family at auction.

Now after our research, we had discovered that we were able to purchase atop of the range vehicle with all the latest gadgets and gizmos, for thousandsof dollars less than the current market value if we were simply willing to stepoutside the norm and do something different.

So for a whole month before the event we researched. We scanned thepapers, we contacted dealers, we checked out some auction websites and thewebsites of companies and government departments that auctioned vehicles.

Then we turned up at an auction with no intention of bidding, but to simplyget a feel for the auction, to gather information and to get an idea as to whatpeople were paying.

We then outlined the exact make and colour of the vehicle that we wouldpurchase. The following week we decided which auction we would attend andthen got a hold of the current catalogue. We then narrowed down our list ofpossible vehicles, based on features and mileage, and we came up with four.

The week previous we had established contact with a local mechanic wholived near the auction site. And the day before the auction we met with himon site and through his inspection we were able to narrow the four vehiclesdown to just one.

    Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

    47

Then came the day of the auction, and lo and behold I had double bookedmyself and neither my wife nor I could be there. What would we do? So herewe were with every bit of research done and the vehicle chosen and wecouldnt be at the event.

Thats when my 16 year old daughter piped up and said, Ill go.

So at 7.00am on Friday morning I delivered my eldest daughter with heryounger sister on a train that would take over an hour and a half trip to get tothe auction site.

The plan was this. Armed with a mobile phone, she would contact me on mymobile phone and I would guide her through the bidding process until wewon. Was there ever a doubt that we wouldnt get the vehicle? Never.

    Why?

Because we had done all the necessary research, had gained expert insightinto the product we were purchasing by hiring a mechanic, had settled on aprice that we would pay and were walking into the auction with a plan inplace.

Add to all those ingredients the 110% factor enthusiasm, and we knew thatwe would win.

And so the time finally came. It just so happened that the vehicle we were tobid for was the very first vehicle of the morning session. So from the verybeginning it was go, go, go.

From within the crowd of over fifty people at the auction there was only oneother bidder and as I guided Sarah with her bids I could sense the excitementand the enthusiasm in her voice. I could imagine her jumping up and into theface of the auctioneer to make sure that she was noticed as she held themobile phone firmly to her ear.

The event was short, swift and before we knew it we had placed our last and

final bid to hear Going once, going twice and then the auctioneers hammerhit hard as he yelled, Sold.

The vehicle was ours. The work had paid off. The research had won. Themechanic had revealed to us some inside information, and we were now theowners of a new vehicle at a bargain price.

But what was the major ingredient behind such a successful venture?Enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm Is The Fire That Ignites Success!

Yes, enthusiasm always makes the difference. It is the 110% that gets resultstime and time again.

Henry Ford had a burning enthusiasm for the motor vehicle and the object ofhis enthusiasm took shape and reshaped history. Thomas Edison wasenthusiastic about electric light and the machine that talked and many otherinventions and it was because of his enthusiasm that they became a reality. The Wright brothers were enthusiastic about creating a machine that could flyand they flew. And all throughout the ages it is enthusiasm that has time andtime again been the driving force that has created the world as we know it

    today.

    It is the 110%.

It is the factor that separates winners from losers and overachievers fromunderachievers. It enables individuals to face risk and conquer it. It turns theordinary into the extraordinary. It transforms the impossible into the possible.

Commitment To A Goal Brings Excitement

!So what did Norman Vincent Peale say about how to get enthusiasm andkeep it? He said this: Set yourself a goal that youve just got to reach. Thenbuild under it the fire of anticipation and keep it burning you will acquireenthusiasm and never lose it..New goals, fresh objectives these are theself-perpetuating motivators of enthusiasm.
