Freedom: For Indonesian journalists, freedom of press is something very valuable, because at that era Indonesian journalists had to fight against the ruling regim and at the same time also against the groups whose have power by which could exploit the press for their benefits. All of Indonesian journalists eventhough have to maintain this valuable freedom with responsibility, which have to hold on the Code of Conducts to all the time wherever they do their jobs. Independency: To do their jobs, Indonesian journalists have to be free from anykind of interests, including their own conflict of interests. To be independent, the journalists cannot receive anything from their sources that could influence them when they make their news editorial judgements Fairness: Indonesian journalists have to respect to anyone’s rights whose they cover for their news reports and be responsible to provide their news reports in a balance point of view

Point of Code of Conduct on Journalism

• Responsibility: A journalist has to be be responsible to the public by providing them reliable and accurate information.

Journalist challenge

• challenge faced by Indonesian journalists mostly comes from the owner of media and the market. Journalist is a representative of the public which has to be responsible to the public -as their markets- of what the journalist does. And the position of journalist is at the inter-section between public and the owner of media.

• By the increase of economic growth of Indonesia, the more the amount of investors get increase, the stronger the economy power it is. It becomes a big problem when the power of economy is getting stronger to influence and control media, especially to its editorial policies

Current television journalist obstacles• The Television media has grown into a huge industry---consequently, sharing

rating program plays an important part in the competition among television station. Each television station must be aware of the competition and must upgrade their quality in presenting their current news and variety of entertainment.

• Other obstacles present are the process of recruitment and employees self improvements opportunity. If the new recruits aren’t qualified and the present employees aren’t given the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and skills, then the tv station will loses their competitive ability against other tv station.

• Public literacy for media control and frequency. Public has the right to frequency

Input• Indonesian Television need rating alternative, local tv network , digital,

ownership regulation. Presently TV Station are privately owned and company’s objective become blurred along with the owner interest. Therefore an alternative rating company is needed to maintain an independent healthy objective surveyor company. An institution needed to set the standards surveyors, tv network standard and limitations of the owners intervention.

• To challenges being in e member of a journalist organization must be mandatory. This is to monitor all members and upgrade there knowledge on the current issue, competency., legal rights and obligations and union protection.

• The challenges for the public and a firm Indonesian broadcasting commission.one that is independent information for the public and the freedom of speech for the journalist
