Dear Parents and Caregivers.
Welcome to the following new pupils
to our school;
Unique Young, Zaki Khan, Aila
Cheema, Vedam Kumar and Kritik
Bal.
School Website and Facebook
This is the first school newsletter that
is being sent home via our new and
updated school website. NO
newsletters will now be printed and
sent home with pupils from now on.
Families will be able to read a copy
of the newsletter by linking through
to the website or sending an email
address to the school office as the
newsletter can then be sent home
via email. I hope that you have had
an opportunity to go online and view
this new website and look at how our
school operates through this new
media. A great deal of work has
gone on over the past six months led
by Rachael Clark and her team and I
would like to acknowledge them
here. Congratulations to you all!
Included here is the establishment of
an official school Facebook page
fb.com/papeast
where school information can be
posted and shared daily. I am aware
that there are other facebook pages
using our school name so please
ensure that you are following our
‘official’ site. To support parents and
families with these changes we have
offered Parent Information Meetings
of which the final one will be held at
6.30pm tonight in our School library.
If you have been unable to attend
one of these meetings and wish to
speak to someone about our new
Digital Citizenship Agreements
please contact the school office.
Sports Exchange against Holy
Cross. Last Thursday we held our
first school sports exchange against
Holy Cross School. These
exchanges are an opportunity for
our winter sports teams to apply
their developing skills and strategies
into games. Our teams played very
well and will continue to work with
their coaches leading up to the
Interschool Sports Day on Tuesday
21st June.
New Friendship Garden. This very
special area of our school is almost
completed with the lawn being laid
over the past two days. To finish this
project we hope to have a school
opening ceremony and naming of
the garden. Our School Council
talked about the importance of
‘community’ and ‘friendship’ and it
was suggested by the students that
our garden name should reflect this.
Therefore we have named it ;
‘Wāhi Hoki Hoa’
(a special place for friends)
Friends of Yesterday
Friends Today
Friends for Tomorrow
I would like to thank our pupils for
their patience and support over the
past four weeks while this garden
was being built. The many
contractors coming into the school
were really impressed with our
pupils behaviour and attitude
towards them as they worked. They
all stated how polite the children
were and how much interest was
shown by the pupils.
Kindest regards
Graeme Gilbert - Principal
