Activity Days 2018

Dear Parent and Pupil,

In our last week of the Summer Term, we are running a day of activities on Monday 23rd July. There are many different types of activity on offer, some school-based and some off-site, some free and others involving a cost.

This booklet outlines for you, the activities that we have on offer this year. Read it through carefully and decide on the two activities that you would most like to do. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that you will be able to join your first choice activity, but you should be able to do one of your choices.

Unless specifically stated, most activities are run over the one day. On this day you will report to the teacher in charge of the activity. Once you have been allocated to an activity, further details will follow from the teacher in charge of that activity.

Read the booklet carefully and select your preferred activities.

If you are selecting “off-site” activities it is important that you contact the member of staff organising the trip as soon as possible and book your place.

If your selection includes just “on-site” activities, list your choices in order of preference.

If you are going on a pre-arranged family holiday, please ensure the school has been informed.

Return the separate letter signed by your parent/guardian to your Form Tutor by: Friday 8th June 2018.

OakwoodTEACHER IN CHARGE Mrs. L PictonDESCRIPTION A day out at Oakwood for pupils to go

on the rides of their choice! The price does not include Vertigo which pupils have to pay for themselves at Oakwood if they wish to go on the ride. A fun day out!

arena Wales in Cardiff. Even if it’s your first try on the ice or an opportunity to improve your ice-skating skills, it’s great fun. After working up an appetite, you will stop at McDonalds on the way home.

Battlefield LiveTEACHER IN CHARGE Miss K JonesDESCRIPTION An exciting day of combat in the style

of ‘Call of Duty’. Pupils will be given camouflage suits face paint and will take part in a number of group activities/challenges. Laser guns will be used and you will work as a team.


Cycling to PembreyTEACHER IN CHARGE Mr. B GrayDESCRIPTION A day out cycling from school to either

Pembrey Country Park or Mumbles (depending on weather).

of orienteering, problem solving, bush-craft (fire & den buidling) & ‘Challenge Valley’ - The muddiest assault course in the world! Showers are onsite for after the assault course before we return to school for 3pm.

Enjoy a day out in LEGOLAND WindsorEarn your driving licence, discover the secrets of the ancient temple & help

Captain Goodbrick on his quest for the treasure! Don’t forget your swimsuit if you

fancy getting soaked at the UK’s largest outdoor water structure. We will end our Legotastic day, with a pizza/pasta meal!

in the theatre. You may have seen them before but it’s still a great chance to watch your favourite films with your friends at your leisure.


SurfingTEACHER IN CHARGE Mr. P OwenDESCRIPTION 1 day fully supervised surfing lessons at

Llangennith Beach.

All equipment provided and an after surf BBQ/Meal at Eddie’s Café and transport included in the price.


Just Chillin’!TEACHER IN CHARGE Mrs. L. Maclean-QuinDESCRIPTION Enjoy a variety of activities with your

friends at school. Marvel films, Minecraft, Video games (including vintage consoles) and board games galore, such as ‘Mousetrap’, ‘Pictionary’ & Monopoly’.

in from Roma, in which case, bring some money.

Coasteering at the Blue PoolTEACHER IN CHARGE Mr. A. J. TootillDESCRIPTION Under the care of an expert outdoor pursuits

instructor, we will spend the day around the Blue Pool area, near Broughton Bay, Gower. Activities will include coasteering, swimming and jumping into the Blue Pool. Wet suits will be provided if needed. You will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.

the world of musical theatre and Disney films. Sing your heart out to your favourite musical or Disney film. Learn a routine and make up your own performance to a chosen track in a group ready to perform at the end of the day. Break a Leg!

Join us for a day at the Wetlands Centre, Llanelli where we will wander through the birds and other wildlife, feed the ducks and watch the fabulous flamingos. We may even have a go at pond-dipping!Bring a packed lunch.
