PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 15, 2016 A PLENARY INDULGENCE is granted to all the faithful who will recite or sing this prayer on Pentecost Sunday, the other conditions for a plenary indulgence also being met, namely: 1) Confession within eight days, 2) receiving Holy Communion, 3) Praying for the Intentions of the Holy Father, and 4) being free from all attachment to sin, even venial sin. Come Holy Spirit, Creator blest, and in our souls take up Thy rest; come with Thy grace and heavenly aid to fill the hearts which Thou hast made. O comforter, to Thee we cry, O heavenly gift of God Most High, O fount of life and fire of love, and sweet anointing from above. Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known; Thou, finger of God's hand we own; Thou, promise of the Father, Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue. Kindle our sense from above, and make our hearts o'erflow with love; with patience firm and virtue high the weakness of our flesh supply. Far from us drive the foe we dread, and grant us Thy peace instead; so shall we not, with Thee for guide, turn from the path of life aside. Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow the Father and the Son to know; and Thee, through endless times confessed, of both the eternal Spirit blest. Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, with Thou, O Holy Comforter, henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen. +JMJ Dear Friends, HAPPY PENTECOST SUNDAY!!! I love this day so much. I was ordained as a priest three years ago on the vigil of Pentecost and I said my first Mass on Pentecost Sunday. Did you know that the Church considers this the third greatest feast of the entire year, only behind Easter and Christmas? Celebrate well!!! A few things: 1) I will be traveling for my dear friend's ordination to the priesthood next week, so we will have here a visiting priest, Fr. Jim Vance. Daily Mass will continue as scheduled but there will be no noon time confessions. Ordinations are one of the most joyful and solemn occasions in the whole Church. The one getting ordained that I'm going to see is my old college roommate! The first time I ever saw him I told him that he was going to be a priest one day. He laughed at me and said I was crazy. Literally now nine and half years later looks like I'll be getting the last laugh! ;-) Pray for my friend, "now-Deacon-soon-to-be-Father" Andrew. Pray for our own transitional deacons being ordained next Saturday for our Archdiocese including Deacon Ted Butler from Portales. 2) June 13-17, the Sisters are coming back for VBS, Vacation Bible School!!! INVITE EVERYONE, including your friends and their kids even if they aren't Catholic. These Dominican nuns from Ann Arbor, MI are out of this world wonderful. Just ask anyone who went to VBS last year. The whole VBS affair is so outrageously good and fun for everyone. Please volunteer to help and to be a part of it. Cf. the flyer in this bulletin for more info. Moreover, a special thing for our Sacred Heart Parishioners, for all those who pre-register for next year's CCD, the VBS IS FREE! The times for pre-registration are May 18 at 4PM, May 22 after the 10:30AM Mass, and May 25 at 4PM. For everyone who does not pre-register for CCD next year at one of those times the cost is $25 per child. God bless you all! So many good things going on here. May the Holy Spirit always rush mightily upon you!! See you in 2 weeks. Yours "in the unity of the Holy Spirit," +Fr. Simon

Dear Friends,

HAPPY PENTECOST SUNDAY!!!

Literally now nine and half years later looks like I'll be getting the last laugh! ;-)

Pray for my friend, "now-Deacon-soon-to-be-Father" Andrew.
