Parish Catholic Community of Allison Park/Glenshaw - Update as We Transition to Yellow
Introduction Sometimes it is useful to take a look back and see the mountain we’ve climbed, and then look forward to see where we are going. As we all know, at the outset of the COVID-19 Pandemic we were no longer able to offer public masses. It was clear that it wouldn’t be business as usual for a while. The liturgy team, staff, and volunteers from both churches pulled together to see how we could continue to achieve our spiritual mission, build community, and remain financially viable. Here are the highlights: Mission Driven:
• We quickly established daily live streaming of masses at both churches. • We continued the spring Alpha sessions on line, and will lead diocesan wide summer Alpha. • We conducted parishioner outreach phone calls. • We held outdoor confessions • We had a Beautiful Easter Mass and Mother’s Day service. • There was an outpouring of support for St Vincent de Paul support as it met the needs of additional
families. Financial Viability
• While we initially took painful actions to reduce payroll costs, both churches were successful in achieving funding through the Paycheck Protection Program and staffing levels have been restored to the pre COVID levels.
• While we have seen revenue losses, your generous response to the 2020 Parish Share program and your continued Offertory contributions have been at levels higher than anticipated.
Financial results for the first ten months from July 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020 compared to the same period last year are shown in the table immediately below:

Financial Information
St. Mary Comments: Operating Revenues decreased 3.5% as lower Offertory collections and Donations/Bequests more than offset higher Fund Raising and Other Income. Operating Expenses increased 3.8% reflecting higher property insur-ance and operations/maintenance cost. The school subsidy declined 9% as one-time costs were incurred in Pri-or Year. Consequently, the Net Operating Deficit increased 68% to approx. $113k. St. Ursula Comments: Operating Revenues decreased 10.4% reflecting lower Offertory collections, Donations/Bequests, and Other Income. Operating Expenses were essentially flat as higher operations/maintenance and liturgical costs were offset by lower rectory and CCD costs. Consequently, the Parish moved to a Net Operating Deficit position of approx. $25k. Where are we going? Re-opening the Church – One step at a time
• Resumption of funeral masses with limited attendees • Resumption of marriage ceremonies with limited attendees • Confessions moving back into the church buildings • Resumption of weekend masses on a limited schedule, including “parking lot” masses • Continued live streaming of daily masses
Closing Thoughts We could not have achieved what we have so far, and plot out the path forward without the support of our pa-rishioners, staff, and volunteers. For that we are extremely grateful. Thank you to everyone for your support of our parish community, whether it be through prayer, volunteering, financially, or otherwise!

Home with the Lord St. Mary & St. Ursula Remember Lord and welcome into your Kingdom those who have died and have gone before us marked in the sign of faith, especially Elizabeth Kury, Paul Pirollo, and Anna Porreca. Please remember to pray for the consolation of their loved ones.
Did You Know? Faith Sharing Pentecost Jesus prays for you. Find his prayer to his heavenly Father which Saint John records in chapter 17 of his gospel. The text for this Sunday has his reassuring words about those “whom You gave me…I pray for them”. Our baptism sharing in the divine life of the Trinity includes us as “those who” the Father gave to Jesus. Belonging in the original Family is the greatest of gifts!
