Our Lord foretold the coming of the Paraclete to His disciples.
ut the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, do I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. You have heard that I said to you: I go away, and I come unto you. If you loved Me, you would indeed be glad, because I go to the Father: for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it come to pass: that when it shall come to pass you may believe.

DRESS CODE We want to foster the greatest reverence and respect for Our Lord at Mater Ecclesiae. Our attire is an outward expression of our love for the Lord and shows how important He is to us. It is also a sign of our respect for the House of God. Therefore, one should always wear their “Sunday Best” to Mass: modesty, good taste and common sense should prevail. Accordingly, the following rules apply:
• NO SHORTS, EVER, FOR MEN, WOMEN OR CHILDREN.
• Women: No revealing clothing, low necklines, short skirts or bare midriffs. Please dress modestly with dignity and self-respect. We suggest that women wear a head covering.
• Men: No tattered, soiled work clothes, old jeans or gym clothes. Please wear “business or business casual attire” to set a good example for our young men and boys.
FEAST OF PENTECOST:
Suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a mighty wind coming,
And it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
There appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon
every one of them; And they were all
filled with the Holy Ghost.
(Acts 2, 2-4)

Ember Days are on the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday following the First Sunday in Lent and Pentecost Sunday, during the third full week of September, and after the Third Sunday of Advent. They are days of fasting for the special sanctification of the four seasons and for obtaining God’s blessing on the clergy, for whose ordination the Ember Saturdays are specially set apart. The Propers of the Masses reflect the Season in which they occur and include additional Lessons said before the Gospel.

LESSON THIRTIETH:
On the First Commandment
Q. 1157. Did not God frequently in the Old Law make use of dreams as a means of making known His will?
A. God did frequently in the Old Law make use of dreams as a means of making known His Will; but on such occasions He always gave proof that what He made known was not a mere dream, but rather a revelation or inspiration. He no longer makes use of such means, for He now makes known His will through the inspiration of His Church.
Q. 1158. What are mediums and spiritists?
A. Mediums and spiritists are persons who pretend to converse with the dead or with spirits of the other world. They pretend also to give this power to others, that they may know what is going on in heaven, purgatory or hell.
Q. 1159. What other practice is very dangerous to faith and morals?
A. Another practice very dangerous to faith and morals is the use of mesmerism or hypnotism, because it is liable to sinful abuses, for it deprives a person for a time of the control of his reason and will and places his body and mind entirely in the power of another.
Q. 1160. What are fortune tellers?
A. Fortune tellers are imposters who, learning the past, or guessing at it, pretend to know also the future and to be able to reveal it to anyone who pays for the knowledge. They pretend also to know whatever concerns things lost or stolen, and the secret thoughts, actions or intentions of others.

Knights of Columbus Baby Bottle Project
Campaign to Run from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day
The annual Knights of Columbus pro-life fundraiser will kick off on Mother’s Day weekend with the distribution of empty baby bottles. Parishioners are asked to return them, filled with cash or checks on Father’s Day weekend.
Funds will be donated again this year to Good Counsel Homes/South Jersey and Helpers of God’s Precious Infants, two very worthy local organizations serving pregnant women in need. Last year parishioners donated over $1,000!
So as we celebrate these two holidays and honor the mothers and fathers in our lives, let’s also remember those parents who reject the temptation of abortion and now need our support as they choose life for their babies.
