M: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the

fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you.

C: And also with you.

CONFESSION OF SINS

M: We have come into the presence of God, who created us to love and

serve him as his dear children. But we have disobeyed him and

deserve only his wrath and punishment. Therefore, let us confess

our sins to him and plead for his mercy.

C: Merciful Father in heaven, I am altogether sinful from birth. In

countless ways I have sinned against you and do not deserve to

be called your child. But trusting in Jesus, my Savior, I pray:

Have mercy on me according to your unfailing love. Cleanse

me from my sin, and take away my guilt.

M: God, our heavenly Father, has forgiven all your sins. By the perfect

life and innocent death of our Lord Jesus Christ, he has removed

your guilt forever. You are his own dear child. May God give you

strength to live according to his will.

C: Amen.

M: In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord.

Day Camp Children Sing: “God Won the Victory” God gave us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ, For he died and rose to give us heaven as our prize. With this good news in our hearts, not one of us can wait To live for Jesus, praise his name, and gladly celebrate! God has won the victory for ev’ryone! Be God’s teammate—tell the world about his Son. Celebrate the victory that God has won for all.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

M: O Lord, you granted your prophets strength to resist the

temptations of the devil and courage to proclaim repentance. Give

us pure hearts and minds to follow your Son faithfully even into

suffering and death; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who

lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and

forever.

THE WORD

Old Testament Reading: Amos 7:10-15 10Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam king of Israel: Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to endure all of his words. 11This is what Amos says: “Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will certainly go into exile away from its own soil.” 12Then Amaziah said to Amos, “You seer, get out of here! Flee to the land of Judah. You may eat food and prophesy there. 13But you must never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the sanctuary of the king and the national temple.” 14Then Amos responded to Amaziah: I was not a prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet. Rather, I was a sheep breeder and I took care of sycamore fig trees. 15But the LORD took me from tending flocks, and the LORD said to me, “Go, prophesy to my people Israel.

Psalm 78

O my people, hear my teaching;*

listen to the words of my mouth.

I will utter things from of old,*

what we have heard and what our fathers have told us.

We will not hide them from our children;*

we will tell the next generation

the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD. Refrain

The LORD decreed statutes for Jacob*

and established the law in Israel,

so the next generation would know them,*

and they in turn would tell their children.

Then they would put their trust in God*

and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son*

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,*

is now, and will be forever. Amen. Refrain

New Testament Reading: Ephesians 1:3-14 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. 4He did this when he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ. He did this in accordance with the good purpose of his will, 6and for the praise of his glorious grace, which he has graciously given us in the one he loves. 7In him we also have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in keeping with the riches of his grace, 8which he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight. 9He made known to us the mystery of his will in keeping with his good purpose, which he planned in Christ. 10This was to be carried out when the time had fully come, in order to bring all things together in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth. 11In him we have also obtained an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in keeping with the purpose of his will. 12He did this so that his glory would be praised as a result of us, who were the first to hope in Christ. 13In him, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and in him, when you also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. 14He is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own possession, so that his glory would be praised. Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 30:14 Alleluia! The word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so you can obey it. Alleluia!

Gospel Reading: Mark 6:7-13 7Jesus called the Twelve and began to send them out two by two. He gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8He instructed them to take nothing for their journey except a staff —no bread, no bag, no money in their money belts. 9They were to put on sandals but not to wear two coats. 10He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that area. 11Any place that will not receive you or listen to you, as you leave there, shake off the dust that is under your feet as a testimony against them.” 12They went out and preached that people should repent. 13They also drove out many demons. They anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

After the Gospel, the congregation sings:

SERMON TEXT: Mark 6:7-13

MORE SURPRISES -- CALLED WORKERS!

I. Called to act on behalf of Jesus.

II. Called to act in the best interests of people.

APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy Christian Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

M: Brothers and sisters, go in peace. Live in harmony with one

another.

Serve the Lord with gladness.

The Lord bless you and keep you.

Day Camp Wrap-Up: Kids and Counselors had a blast at Day Camp last week with the theme of Ready, Set, Gold! We had

an Olympic themed week learning how we Win! Train! Trust! Serve! and Celebrate! while taking care of our bodies

physically and most importantly spiritually. Our theme passage was taken from 1 Corinthians 15:57 “Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” We had 66

kids participating this year!

Many thanks to everyone who made our Day Camp possible

through donations of money or snack and craft supplies as well as the many volunteers who donated their time to spend the week with us!

We had so many excellent helpers this year! Coach and Games Leaders- Brandon Leiterman and Jenn Schmid; Snack Leaders-

Gloria Hamm and Ann Clark; Bible Story Leader- Jenny Shadrick; Music Leaders- Ashley Leiterman and Brian Thell; Craft Leaders- Donna Sternitzky and Kenadi Urban; as well as

our counselors who did an amazing job!- Mary Dux (4th- 6th grade), Jackson Hemp and Rachel Dux (2nd -3rd grade),

Tasha Shadrick (1st grade), Grace Biebert (Kindergarten), and Sarah Dux, Alice Glinski, and McKayla Schoen (3K/4K).

What a blessing to remind the children of our congregation and our community about the Victory won for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are already looking forward to next year!

Library: The teachers are in the process of cleaning out and remodeling the library. This task involves a lot of steps and the

first one is removing all the old or doubled books from our collection to make it more inviting to the students. Instead of simply throwing these books away we want to give all of you a

chance to claim them. Throughout the month of July, we will continue to update the books that we have available for you so

that you can take 10 or so of them with you home each week.

Books are completely free, we are just trying to save them from the fate of the garbage can/fire pit. If you are willing to

give a free will donation to our library program the students and staff would greatly appreciate it. We will use your

donations to purchase a new computer and to update our library book recording software to bring us into the new age of digitally recording check-in/out compared to the card system.

Donations will also be used to continue to keep our library

updated for our students and our congregation.

Claire this past week. Let’s keep them in our prayers.

Semi-Annual Voters’ Meeting: Our semi-annual voters’ meeting will be held next Sunday, July 25th, right after the

worship service. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend.

Reports are available on the table in the entryway. Please feel free to pick one up and read through it in preparation for the meeting next Sunday.

Council Positions: Elections for officers and elders will take place at the semi-annual meeting next Sunday. Please

remember the service our Lord has given to all of us and in thankfulness consider whether the Lord has given you the gifts to serve His church in this way. The two positions that will be

vacant right now are Adult Discipleship and Outreach & Evangelism. The council recently went to every other month

for their meetings.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to have

your name placed on the ballot, please contact any of our current church council members or talk to Pastor.

"Welcome Visitors & Members!"

To those who are visiting us for the first time, we extend our sincere welcome; to our friends who know us we renew our welcome; to those who seek a church home we invite you to be part of our family and enjoy fellowship with our Savior. To assist you in worship, personal listening devices are available for anyone to use. Please talk to the ushers for assistance. Visitors, if you would like to know more about our church or school, please introduce yourself to our pastor. He would be delighted to speak with you and serve you in whatever way he can. We love seeing young children in church as we want families to worship together. We also love to hear children making a "joyful noise to the Lord." If you need some privacy for feeding an infant or changing a diaper, please make use of our parents' room off the north side of the entryway where you can still listen to the service.
