NCATE
NCATE is the profession's mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation. Through the process of professional accreditation of colleges and departments of education, NCATE assesses the quality of teaching and teacher preparation.
NCATE's performance-based system of accreditation fosters competent classroom teachers and other educators who work to improve the education for students
Why did the U. develop this program?
The Education Department of the University of Scranton had theneed to bring together the many data elements in Banner in orderto facilitate the process of managing data associated with theTeacher Certification process and then use that data to betterassess their programs.
As a result, a year long process began where a team ofindividuals from several departments met to define specificationsand eventually developed the system shown at this presentation. The departments participating in this project were CPS (TheEducation Department and the Accreditation Specialist),SSR ( the programming staff) and AIRO (The Planning Office).
