Penguins have adapted flippers to help them swim in the water, this also helps
them get from on place to another.
How they swim
Penguins live in places like the Antarctica, New Zealand, western coast of Africa and many more. No
penguins live at the North Pole.
Life on land & water
Penguins eat a range of fish and other sea life that they catch underwater, this is because there is nothing else to eat.
What they eat
.
How they spend their time
Penguins spend around half their time in water and the
other half on land, due to the habitat they live in
Penguins can spend up to 75% of their lives in water. Their prey can be found in within 60 feet of the surface. They catch prey in their
beaks and swallow them whole as they swim.
Catching prey
Penguins ingest a lot of seawater while hunting for fish, but a gland behind their eyes the supraorbital gland filters out the saltwater
from their blood stream. They sneeze to get it out.
