Santa has called on all his Penguin helpers this year, including the Rockhoppers and the Emperor penguin, to help him spread some Christmas magic over Plymouth!

Find the names of all 20 life size LEGO brick penguins which can be found in selected shops and businesses across the city centre, and you could win fantastic prizes, including a weekend family trip to LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, or a Penguin Feeding Experience at Living Coasts for four people!

There are 19 life size Rockhopper LEGO brick penguins to find, and one Emperor penguin. Each penguin has a name to collect.

Follow the trail map on page 6 and 7 to help you find them, then complete the form on page 9 with your contact details and all 20 penguin names.

The trail runs from 3 December 2018 to 3 January 2019, so start collecting now! Send your completed entry form in by Monday 14 January 2019.

Christmas in Plymouth

We have lots going on for all the family this Christmas. Pick up some individual and unique Christmas gifts and festive foods from the Plymouth Christmas Market, located in the heart of the city centre from 29 November to 16 December. 60 wooden cabins, festooned with fairy lights, will be selling everything from sweet treats to handmade jewellery and locally grown real Christmas trees! Why not take a selfie under our new giant bauble?

Drake Circus will be bringing the magic of Christmas alive at Santa’s Smeaton’s Tower-style grotto with his team of elves from 17 November to 24 December.

Buy a Golden Ticket to make and take a mini LEGO brick penguin or Santa every Saturday before Christmas this December in the Plymouth Market. As a special treat why not add a visit to Santa? He’ll be in his festive grotto on Saturday 15 and 22 December – come and join the fun!

If you enjoy LEGO bricks as much as we do, then you will be excited to see the LEGO brick Santa Express at the Old Town Street entrance to Drake Circus. You can even climb on-board!

1. Penguins' favourite foods are krill, fish and squid which they catch while swimming underwater

2. Penguins spend roughly half of their lives on land and the other half in the sea

3. Penguins are highly social birds and usually swim and feed in groups, even at sea

4. The Rockhopper penguin weighs between 2.3 kg to 2.7 kg

5. The Rockhopper penguin lives in South America and the Falkland Islands

6. Rockhoppers get their name from the way they hop around on rocks with both feet together

7. The Emperor penguin is the largest of all the different penguin species

8. On average, adult Emperor penguins measure 115cm tall – which is around the same height as a six year old

9. The Emperor penguin lives in Antarctica, where temperatures can drop to as low as -60°C. Brrrr!

10. These birds are super swimmers and impressive divers, and can reach depths of over 450m
