Log on to the Network

Press Control + Alt + Delete – the login screen will then appear

Fill in the following information:

User Name: Enter your first initial and last name. The name is not case-sensitive; for example, MSmith is the same as msmith.

Password: You are required to enter a password. If you are logging in for the first time, you will need to have a generic password setup for you. Change your password immediately after your first successful login. A few things to remember:

1. Passwords are case-sensitive 2. Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters 3. For security reasons, you will be prompted to change your password from time to

time. Please do so immediately!

Log off of the Network

It is very important that you log off the network when you are away from your computer and/or at the end of the day. To do this you must again press Control + Alt + Delete, and then simply select logout. The Control + Alt + Delete prompt will appear indicating that you are logged out.

Google Apps is a rich set of web applications that includes e-mail, website creation, collaboration, document editing, shared calendars, and more. Best of all, these tools are available to you anytime – anywhere there is an Internet accessible device! Google Apps Includes

Gmail – Google Gmail is Google’s web-based email program.

Google Calendar – Google Calendar is Google’s web-based calendar. Users can organize their schedules and share events, meetings and entire calendars with others.

Google Docs – Google Docs is an online application that lets you create and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Documents are automatically saved and stored online, so you never have to worry about losing an important document. Sharing a document is as easy as sending a link – no more keeping track of multiple email attachments!

Google Sites – Google Sites is the easiest way to make information accessible to people who need quick, up-to-date access. People can work together on a Site to add file attachments, information from other Google applications like Google Docs and Google Calendar. For more information, resources and tutorials on how to get the most from Google Apps, please visit the Google Apps Resource section on the Pendergast Website. To log in to Google App & Gmail

Click on the Google icon found on the homepage of the Pendergast website or use the link found under “Educational Resources” drop-down window.

Fill in the following information:

User Name: Enter your first initial and last name or your Google user ID.

Password: Upon your first login using your temporary password (a password that was assigned by the system administrator) be sure to immediately change your password!

District Guidelines Regarding Sending “All Users” Mass E-Mails This District guideline will establish standards and procedures for employees who wish to send an e-mail message to “all users” through the District’s GroupWise capabilities. This guideline is intended to protect the security and integrity of District electronic communications; to maintain system speed and accessibility; and to reduce unsolicited or inappropriate mail. This guideline does NOT prohibit the distribution of appropriate email to groups, departments or teams. What is an appropriate “all users” message?

Emergency communication Official District information that applies to all employees (District newsletters,

policy changes, District Office announcements, Superintendent messages) District-wide announcements of changes or disruptions in service (i.e. telephone

or computer outages). What is NOT an appropriate “all users” message?

Information that is not relevant to the District’s mission Personal events and announcements Commercial or business opportunities Information intended for limited numbers or groups of employees

Procedure for sending “all users” emails:

Email must be signed by the sender and department it came from Email must be approved by a Principal, Department Head or District

Administrator and their name must be included in the signature along with the sender’s name

Pendergast Elementary School District Web Page:

The official Pendergast Elementary School District website can be found at www.pesd92.org. Here you will find a wealth of information regarding the district including names and phone numbers for the different departments throughout Pendergast. You will also find links to a number of employee resources including Google Apps, Aesop (the District’s absence management & guest teacher placement system), Genesis and Boy’s Town resources.

Pendergast Elementary School District Intranet Site:

The Pendergast Intranet site can only be accessed while logged into the District network. You can access the Intranet by typing “intranet.pesd92.org” into your web browser. Here you will find resources such as:

Educational Services Resources Loading District Printers Genesis Resource Center Incentive Class Proposal Forms iVisons Portal Career Ladder Information Professional Development Calendar

IMPORTANT: When accessing the Intranet for the first time you will see a yellow bar across the top of the screen. You will need to click on this yellow bar and choose “Enable Intranet Settings.” This will have to be done in order to install a printer. Also this must be done using Internet Explorer as it is not possible to install a printer using Mozilla Firefox.

School Dude Technology / Maintenance Requests

Use “School Dude” when submitting Maintenance and Technology work order requests.

To submit a work order you will have to know the following information:

Your Pendergast email address Submittal Password: service

If this is the first time logging into School Dude, you will need to create an account first! Please see “Creating an Account” on page 7.

If you have a problem submitting a work order, please refer to “Creating a Work Order Request” on page 11.

If you are not able to access the School Dude System, please call the Help Desk at (623) 772-2240.

School Dude: Create an Account 1. Click on the link called School Dude in your Application Launcher.

2. Enter your Pendergast email address, ie [email protected] and click “Submit”

3. If you have already created your account then you will be redirected to create a new work order. If this is your first time logging into School Dude you will be prompted for your last name.

4. Enter your last name and click “Submit”

5. Now you will be prompted to enter your contact information. It is imperative that you include your first name, and at least one phone number to contact you at. If you know your extension please enter it with your phone number. When you have completed the needed information please select “Submit”

6. At this point you have completed the account creation process and will be redirected to the new work order page.

School Dude: Create a Work Order Request

1. Go to School Dude Link on the Pendergast Website under “Employee Resources” or click on the icon labeled School Dude in your Application Launcher. 2. This brings you to the initial login page:

3. Enter your own Prendergast email address: ie: [email protected] and then click on the “Submit” button. If you have logged into the system before you will be directed to the user information screen. If this is your first time logging into the system you will be required to create a new account.

4. The next page to load will be the user information screen. Any item with a red box and a red check mark inside the box is considered a required item.

Note: Phone, Location and Area/Room Number are required fields 5. Next you must select the type of request; Maintenance or Technology, by clicking on the appropriate icon.

6. After choosing Maintenance or Technology request, select what the request is for:

7. The submittal password is the same for the entire district: service. You must know the submittal password to complete the work order. After entering the submittal password click on “Submit” and you will be sent to a page with a summary of all work order requests that the user has entered.

At this point the work order has been entered and sent to the appropriate technician who will complete the work order.

Installing Network Printers:

Visit the Pendergast Intranet by typing “intranet.pesd92.org” in your browser address window. On the Intranet Home Page you will find a link for “District Printers”.

1. Launch Internet Explorer (Unfortunately, Firefox does not work when trying to install printers).

2. Select the link for the site for your location site. 3. From the list select the printer you would like to install. 4. Click “Connect” located to the left of the page under PRINTER ACTIONS. 5. A “Add Web Printer Connection” prompt screen will appear. Select “Yes” 6. The printer you have selected will then begin to install. Please be sure to let

install process finish before attempting to print.

Setting Up Voice Mail: Pendergast CISCO IP Telephony System

To setup your voice mailbox:

Press the “Messages” button located on your school phone You will be prompted to “enter your password followed by #.” Your initial setup

password will be 12345. NOTE: If voicemail has previously been setup on the phone, please contact MIS to have the phone reset

CAREFULLY follow the prompts to complete setup

To retrieve your voice mail:

Press the “Messages” button located on your school phone. You will be prompted to “enter your password followed by #.”

If you wish to retrieve mail from outside the district, dial (623) 772-2622.

(You will hear a voice saying “Thank you for calling the Pendergast School District. If you know your parties extension, please dial it now. For Voice mail retrieval please press the STAR button and follow the prompts.”)

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS NUMBER OUT TO PARENTS!

Press * when the Unity System answers Enter your “Phone Extension Number” followed by # Enter your password Follow the prompts

How to Save Items to your “H Drive”

1. In the desired application (such as MS Word), choose File, then Save As:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. When the new dialog box opens, click on My Computer, then click on your H Drive (starts with your first initial and is typically follow by your last name). Finally, click on the word open in the bottom right corner.

 

 

 

 

 

3. Type the name you desire to save the document as and choose Save.
