Roger Hacior

Last month, we had a challenging 10 days dealing with an infectious outbreak where we needed

to close all common areas of the lodge. This was ordered by the Medical Officer with Alberta

Health Services. We have a protocol to follow and every step taken was necessary to get the

spread of infection under control. This included closing the dining room service, increasing the

frequency of sanitizing common touch surfaces, and isolating those that were sick. These are all

measures that control the spread of infection.

Most importantly, washing your hands regularly and using hand sanitizers if soap and water isn’t

close by, are the best ways to help avoid illness. I cannot stress enough, the need for residents

to realize that coming into the common areas of the lodge when you are sick, puts everyone else

at risk. Thank you to everyone that does take this seriously; you are of the majority; we just need

to get this through to the others that don’t.
