Students are expected to wear the Pembroke

uniform with pride and care, ensuring they

are always well groomed when representing

the School.

Pembroke students are required to wear the

correct School uniform to and from school,

during the school day, when participating

in school sport and any formal functions.

The summer uniform is worn during Terms 1

and 4. The winter uniform is worn in Terms 2

and 3. In the first week of Term 2 and 4 either

uniform may be worn to allow for a flexible

changeover period.

Uniform Guidelines

The Pembroke uniform was designed to bring together the traditional colours of King’s College and Girton Girls’ School. Referencing the green and gold of King’s and the blue and gold of Girton, the uniform combines the rich history of both Schools.

Blazer

The Pembroke blazer is a compulsory part of the winter

uniform. From Year 3 onwards, students must wear their

blazer to and from School, on formal occasions when

required and at assemblies and in Chapel in Terms 2 and 3.

The blazer is optional in summer unless required for a

formal occasion.

The Pembroke wet weather jacket does not take the

place of the blazer but may be worn over the blazer in

inclement weather.

Shoes

Regulation plain black leather lace-up school shoes must

be worn. Shoes should be clean and polished and done up.

Brown t-bar or roman sandals may be worn in Terms 1

and 4 in the Junior School.

Summer Dress and Winter Skirt Length

Summer dress and winter skirt length is to be

approximately knee length when standing upright.

Summer dress and winter skirt length reflect a students’

age. Allow additional length for younger students’ growth,

while older students should demonstrate regard for

uniform standards and personal grooming. In the event

of a student’s skirt length being considered too short,

it will be required to be lengthened.

Hats and Sun Protection

Junior School – Wide brimmed Pembroke hats are

compulsory for outdoor activities throughout the year.

Middle and Senior School – It is compulsory for students

to wear a Pembroke bucket hat or white P cap in Terms 1

and 4, and strongly encouraged all year when outside.

No other hats or caps may be worn.

Coloured House P caps may be worn at School only.

They may not be worn as part of any School sport team

uniform, to and from School or at formal events. They

are not part of the official School uniform.

Students are strongly encouraged to wear sunscreen

when engaged in outdoor activities.

Other Uniform Requirements

A dark blue headscarf may be worn if required for

religious reasons.

Grooming

Hair

Hair should be of natural colour and be neatly and

conventionally styled. ELC to Year 6 students must tie

back shoulder length hair.

Hair accessories should be in the School colours and

are available at the Uniform Shop. A neutral coloured

hair tie is acceptable.

Hair information for Years 7 to 12 – Students may wear their

hair long unless it is poorly groomed. It will then be required

to be tied back. Students may also be required to tie back

hair when working with technical workshop machinery.

Students must be clean shaven.

Jewellery and Makeup

The only jewellery that may be worn by Junior School

students is:

• a wrist watch

• one pair of small earrings or studs

• a simple, unobtrusive necklace.

Middle and Senior School students are also allowed

to wear:

• one plain, unobtrusive bracelet/bangle and one ‘friendship’

or ‘charity’ wrist band

• a plain ring.

Senior School students only may also wear:

• one small, unobtrusive nose stud.

No other jewellery may be worn.

If at any time a staff member believes that an item of

jewellery may present a risk to student welfare or safety it

is appropriate for that teacher to require it to be removed;

an example may be removing wrist bands when working

with technical workshop machinery.

Makeup, other than for sun protection, may not be worn.

Coloured nail varnish is not permitted.

Summer

ELC Uniform

• Pembroke polo shirt with Pembroke ELC shorts.

• Pembroke ELC windcheater for warmth.

• Blue socks with black leather sports shoes with Velcro straps or brown T-bar or roman sandals.

• Pembroke broad-brimmed hat.

Reception to Year 12 Uniform

• Pembroke polo shirt and Pembroke blue dress shorts.

• Pembroke summer dress.

• Pembroke v-neck jumper.

• Pembroke blue socks (polo and shorts) or Pembroke white socks (dress).

• Plain black leather lace up school shoes or brown T-bar or roman sandals (Junior School only).

All students are required to wear a Pembroke hat when outside and for all PE lessons and outdoor sports.

The Pembroke blazer may be worn in summer over the dress or polo and shorts.

Winter

ELC Uniform

• Pembroke short or long-sleeved polo shirt.

• Pembroke ELC trackpants and Pembroke ELC windcheater.

• Blue socks with black leather sports shoes with Velcro straps.

• Pembroke broad-brimmed hat.

Reception to Year 12 Uniform

• Pembroke Blazer (Years 3–6).

• Pembroke Jac shirt with Pembroke tie

and Pembroke grey shorts with Pembroke

blue socks (Junior School).

• Pembroke long-sleeved blue shirt with

Pembroke tie and Pembroke grey trousers

and Pembroke grey socks (optional for

Junior School students).

• Pembroke pinafore (Reception to Year 3)

or Pembroke grey trousers with Pembroke

gold blouse.

• Pembroke winter skirt (Year 3 onwards)

or Pembroke grey trousers with Pembroke

gold blouse.

• Pembroke v-neck jumper.

• Pembroke blue socks or blue tights (skirt

or pinafore) or Pembroke grey socks

(trousers). No black tights permitted.

• Students should keep long socks pulled up

for all formal occasions.

• Plain black leather lace-up school shoes.

Athletics (Summer)

House

• House polo shirt and Pembroke sports shorts.

Interschool

• Pembroke athletics singlet and Pembroke

sports shorts.

• Pembroke white P socks or Pembroke

ankle socks.

Basketball (Summer and Winter)

• Pembroke reversible basketball uniform.

• Pembroke white P socks or Pembroke

ankle socks.

Sports Uniform

Physical Education Lessons and House Sport

Students must wear their House polo shirt for

PE lessons with their Pembroke sports shorts.

Pembroke Sports Teams

Students representing the School in sport must

wear the correct uniform appropriate to that sport.

They may also wear a Pembroke Jacket, trackpants

or rugby top to and from sports fixtures.

No other jackets or tops are to be worn.

Pembroke sports caps and hats are the only

approved headwear.

Junior School students should check with the

Junior School Sports Department regarding

uniform requirements.

• Pembroke white sports shirt (long or short sleeved),

white cricket pants or Pembroke green sports

shorts or Pembroke blue sports shorts.

• Pembroke yellow one-day cricket shirt (if required).

• Pembroke broad brimmed cricket hat, white P cap

or First XI cricket cap.

Football (Winter)

• Senior teams (Years 11-12) – Pembroke

reversible guernsey (pre-ordered).
