PasswordsRESETTING PASSWORDSA user with administrative permissions can set up new user names and temporary passwords for the VCD5202 through the Workstation. The administrator can also reset a user’s password without knowing the user’s existing password. When logging on to the VCD5202, the user will be prompted to create a new password.

NOTE: Move the joystick left, right, up, or down to navigate in a dialog box or menu. Press the joystick trigger to select an item. Alternatively, you can press a color-coded function key on the KBD5000 keyboard that corresponds to an icon in a menu or dialog box to select it.

LOGGING ON WITH A TEMPORARY PASSWORD1. In the VCD5202 Logon dialog box, select your user name.

2. Type the temporary password assigned by the administrator using the KBD5000 keyboard.

3. Press the OK button. The Change Password dialog box appears.

Figure 5. Change Password Dialog Box

4. Type the current password, a new password, and then confirm the new password.

NOTE: If you are using the KBD5000 to create a new password, you are limited to the use of numeric characters only. If alphanumeric passwords are required, a standard USB keyboard can be connected to the KBD5000 to enter alphanumeric characters.

5. Press the OK button. If the old password (temporary) is entered correctly and the new and confirmed passwords match, the application opens.

NOTES:• A dialog box appears if the old password is incorrect or the new and confirmed passwords do not match. If this occurs, click the OK button to return to

the Change Password dialog box. Retype your old and new passwords and then click the OK button. If you are unsuccessful, contact your administrator.• A user with administrative permissions can define when user passwords will expire (in days) and the password expiration warning interval. The date

for the password expiration is global and requires all users to change their passwords. Users will be notified by the administrator when their pass-words have expired and must be changed. A user who is logged on during or after the password expiration date will remain logged on. A password change is required when the user logs off and logs on again.

• Password expiration is enabled and configured through the Workstation.

CHANGING AN EXPIRED PASSWORD1. In the Logon dialog box, select your user name and type your password using the KDB5000 keyboard.

2. Press the OK button. A password expiration warning dialog box appears.

PTZ PrioritizationPTZ control on a camera is maintained through a system of hierarchy. Each user is provided access to certain services and devices on the system. A user with administrative permissions has access to all services and devices.

Higher-priority user: A higher-priority user can maintain control or take control of the PTZ function of a camera when a lower priority user has control.• When a higher-priority user performs PTZ without locking PTZ control and another user begins using PTZ, the second user will receive a message that

a user with higher priority has assumed control of that camera.• When a higher-priority user locks PTZ control of a camera and a second user tries to take control of the PTZ function, the following dialog box appears.

Figure 9. PTZ Control Dialog Box

– If the second user has higher priority and clicks the Take Control button, that user will assume PTZ control on the camera. If the first user attempts control the PTZ function, that user will receive a message that a user with higher priority has assumed control of the PTZ camera(refer to Figure 10).

– If the second user has lower priority and clicks the Take Control button, that user will receive the following dialog box:

Figure 10. Higher Priority User Message

Lower-priority user: A lower-priority user can perform and lock PTZ control on a camera; however, a higher priority user can assume PTZ control of that camera at any time whether or not the lower-priority user controls or locks PTZ.

Equal-priority users: When two users with equal priority want control of the PTZ function, either the first user to perform PTZ control on a camera or the first user to lock PTZ control will maintain PTZ control until releasing control. If the second user attempts to control the PTZ function, a dialog box appears indicating that a user with higher priority has control of the camera (refer to Figure 10).

About This GuideThe Endura® VCD5202 video control display (VCD) provides access to most of the functionality needed for day-to-day operations as well as basic monitor setup options. For access to advanced setup or configuration, use the WS5000 software or other available system management applications.

Before using this guide, install your VCD5202; refer to the VCD5202 Installation manual supplied with the unit. This guide provides basic instructions to log on, set up, and operate your VCD5202. Refer to the VCD5202 Operation manual for a complete description of the VCD5202 and its functions.

DescriptionThe VCD5202 video console display (VCD) delivers virtual matrix functionality for surveillance operators. The VCD5202 uniquely addresses the requirements of real-time surveillance installations while balancing the complexity introduced by today's IP and megapixel cameras. Each VCD5202 decodes up to 32 streams, manages elaborate video walls, and provides for CCTV-style keyboard control and management functionality.

Each VCD5202 is capable of simultaneously decoding sixteen MPEG-4 streams at 4CIF resolution and 30/25 images per second (ips), twelve H.264 baseline streams at 4CIF resolution and 30/25 ips, or two full 1080P streams in real time. When additional streams are displayed, the VCD5202 uses the patent-pending EnduraView™ technology to automatically seek out and display a lower resolution, second stream from the camera. The technology can also reduce the refresh rate to minimize the impact on processing requirements and network overhead. Standard resolution and megapixel video streams can be displayed in single, 2 x 2, 3 x 3, 4 x 4, 1 + 5, 1 + 12, 2 + 8, 3 x 2, and 4 x 3 configurations. Any combination of live or playback streams can be displayed simultaneously, including both live and playback streams from the same camera.

Each VCD5202 drives two high definition monitors (monitor resolutions up to 2560 x 1600) through DVI-I connections. The VCD5202 can also manage a video wall of monitors attached to network decoders or Microsoft® Windows®-based workstations, or attached to a combination of the decoders and the workstations.

The VCD5202 incorporates a heads-up display designed to provide efficient control while allowing the operators to remain focused on the video they are observing. Working in conjunction with the optional KBD5000, the icon-based menu structure is blended across the primary monitor's display. Shortcut keys on the KBD5000 allow operators to quickly access critical functionality without having to look away from their monitors.

When exporting video, the VCD5202 provides a built-in DVD burner and the option of exporting video on a user supplied USB memory key. Audio monitoring is enabled through a built-in speaker in the KBD5000.
