In fact, the husband and wife soon humbly accepted leadership roles on the Coun- cil, in the Protestant Men of the Chapel, in the Protestant Women of the Chapel, as Sunday School teachers, in the handbell choir, and giving the children’s sermon in wor- ship. In fact, just about every second there was a chapel activity going on inside or around or from that particular location and expression of the Body of Christ, the young family was faithfully there smack dab in the middle of the blessed chaos. In fact, they fully expected one whopper of a holy dressing down. In fact, they themselves had talked others into staying who had said they were thinking of going to a church in town again instead of the military chapel. That day, the couple was quite surprised to see eyes sparkling and a huge smile ap- pear across the pastor’s face. That day, they heard the redemptive and sending-forth words of the pastor say, “My prayer has always been that those attending the military chapel would someday grow to the point in faith and service that they were ready to commit wholly to a denomination and local church.” That day, they also heard the instructive but cautious words of their pastor, “However, please don’t leave the chapel for that church until you are ready to support it as a faithful active member in all aspects. That day, the couple learned their decision meant they, “… must purpose- fully financially support the local church in all the church things that they didn’t have to worry about their monthly offering supporting at a military base chapel, like: pastors, staff salaries, buildings, furnishings, utili- ties, repairs, equipment, bibles, education curriculum and supplies, music, and fellowship tables and chairs. That day, the couple eagerly responded, “We are ready!” On that day, this young couple made a cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and physical transition to commit wholly in a new way to the holy ministry with, in, and on behalf of the Body of Christ. In fact, they agreed to commit to what so many church participants errone- ously think is optional or the work of others. On this day and everyday, blessed are you who have promised to be fruitful with your gifts so that God may use you to multiply the impact of His love through and by this local expression of the Body of Christ. YOUR SESSION AT WORK Administration Committee reported that the screen for the sanctuary is completely installed. Testing has been conducted for issues with equipment and training personnel. Stewardship Committee is hosting a catered stew-ardship campaign lunch after church on Sept 12th. The proposed budget will be available for review by the congregation. Committees will present a narrative version of their budgetary plans. The format for the program will be set to an old time radio program. Each committee will have a sound bite as their presentation. Pledge cards and Jan-Aug giving status will be mailed to each donor. Pledge Sunday is set for Sept 26 so that the congregation can make their spiritual giving commitment during the worship service. Once pledges are received, the Stewardship Committee will advise of needed adjustments to committees’ pro-posed budget requests for 2011. Worship Committee is working on plans for the church worship and picnic Sunday. Also seeking pul-pit supply options for the remainder of the year and will begin looking at Advent and Christmas. A 20th Anni-versary of the Church task force is being formed. Outreach Committee reported the Fiesta Back to School program in the Wimberley area provided for over 400 students. Reminded Session that the Peace-making Offering will be taken up in worship on Oct 3rd. Received a very nice thank you note from our mission-ary in Mexico for our support of her this year. Building & Grounds reported two new first aid kits were purchased for the Nursery and Sanctuary; and, the kitchen kit was inspected. The administration build-ing inspection conducted after recent downpours indi-cated a few minor leaks to follow-up on; but ,the roof repairs over storage room did eliminate previous leaks. Nominating Committee is working on nominations for the 2011 Nominating Committee members-at-large. Elections will be later in the year.

Congregational Care will host the October Wednesday night dinner and program. Date to be announced. Di-rectory data is being reviewed for accuracy before print-ing. A baby shower for Sarah Hernandez and Emily Junkin is being planned. Discipleship Committee has 15 plus volunteer teach-ers for Children’s Church. A list of religious education books and curriculum available is maintained in a note-book which is kept in the Discipleship Lounge (DL) across from the pastor’s office. All education supplies are now organized in the DL for all church programs. Fellowship Committee is working on: the 20th anniver-sary church celebration fellowship piece; the church pic-nic at John Knox on October 17; and, a church outing to attend 7 Brides for 7 Brothers matinee at the Wimber-ley Playhouse on Oct 10. Reservations for the play are required by Sept. 26. Designated Pastor Nominating Committee (DPNC) is receiving Personal Information Forms of clergy from Presbytery COM. Committee members are interviewing candidates, listening to sermon tapes, visiting services candidates are leading, and talking to references as nec-essary. The inputs from the congregation regarding skills sets needed were incorporated in the Church Infor-mation Form and guide the committee members in their discernment. When the committee is prepared to nomi-nate a candidate, they will ask that a congregation meet-ing be called for a vote to extend a call. Other Business A called Session meeting will be on Oct 3 to examine the confirmation students (Sydney Pe-terson and Morgan Peyton) prior to their accepting mem-bership vows per the Book of Order. The Session ap-proved the baptism of Sydney Peterson to be held on Oct 3. The Presbytery delegates to General Assembly will give their report via teleconference on Saturday, Sept 11. Teleconferencing sites include Westlake Hills, Austin and John Calvin, San Antonio. The next Presbytery meeting is Oct 22-23 at the Korean Church, Austin.
