Over the course of a week, visiting Tibetan monks will create an intricate work made from millions of grains of colored sands. Lecture: What is a Mandala? What Is Peace? Monday, Feb. 27, 4 pm Student Union (SU), House Chamber Lecture by Dr. Nathan Katz, Program of Spirituality, FIU. Film: Sand Painting The Sacred Art of Tibet Wednesday, Feb. 29, 4 pm University Theatre Lecture and film sponsored by the FAU Peace Studies Program and Department of Anthropology. In this beautifully photographed and fascinating documentary, Tibetan monks from the Dalai Lama’s personal monastery create the most sacred of all Buddhist sand paintings. E XPRESSIONS of P EACE PRESENTS The Schmidt Center Gallery will be open for viewing the mandala Feb. 25 – March 3, 10 am – 6 pm.
