    A new take on the classic pea coat style! A fun, stylish and totally wearable sweater with a classic twist,

    great for boys and girls. Easy to follow instructions, perfect for a beginner crocheter who is looking to

    take the next step into slightly more challenging territory. Of course, it is a great pattern for more

    advanced crocheters, as well.

    Sizes

    Instructions are written for size 2T, with changes for sizes 4, 6 and 8 in parentheses.

    Finished chest measurement: Approximately 26 (28, 30, 32) inches.

    Yarn

    You may use the DK or worsted

    weight yarn of your choice.

    Cotton Fleece 80% Prima

    Cotton/20% Merino Wool

    100g/215 yds

    Color A: Malibu Blue 1 (2, 2, 3)skeins

    Stripe Pattern

    Feel free to follow your own stripe pattern, or to not use stripes at all. To achieve the look pictured, use

    the following stripe pattern:

    * 8 rows A, 2 rows B, 4 rows C, 1 row A, 4 rows B, 6 rows A, 1 row C, 1 row B, 3 rows C, 1 row each A,

    C, B, and C.* Continue to repeat from * to * until you reach the end of the pattern.

    Pattern Stitch

    *Skip one stitch, work 2 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * across.

    To Decrease at the beginning of a row (Beginning Decrease)

    Skip one stitch, work 1 sc in the next stitch, then work the remainder of the row in the Pattern Stitch

    To Decrease at the end of a row (End Decrease)

    Work in the Pattern Stitch until the end of a row, skip one stitch, work 1 sc in the last stitch before

    turning.

    end. 12 sts.

    Row 65 (71, 77, 83): Work pattern stitch across the first 10 sts, leaving remaining sts unworked.

    Work 4 (4, 5, 5) rows even in pattern stitch. Fasten off.

    Sleeves

    Chain 40 (44, 52, 56)

    Work pattern stitch until sleeve measures 9 (11, 12, 13) inches. Fasten off.

    With wrong sides facing (inside-out), sew the side and shoulder seams. Sew the sleeve seams. Line up

    the sleeve seams with the side seams and pin sleeves into place. Sew the sleeves into place, removing the

    pins as you go around to make sure that the sleeves are evenly attached. Weave in ends.

    Collar

    With right side facing, starting

    from the corner of the front right

    piece, join yarn with a sc and

    work sc evenly around the entireneckline, making sure to end

    with an even number of stitches.

    Work evenly in pattern stitch

    until the collar is of the desired

    length. Fasten off.

    Finishing

    Join yarn in the bottom corner of

    front right side (near the hem),

    work evenly in sc around the

    entire edge, join in the first sc

    made.

    Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join

    in the first sc made.

    Work 2 more rows even in sc,

    join. Fasten off.

    Weave in ends. Using the

    placement of the buttonholes as

    a guide, mark the corresponding

    stitches on the front left side. Attach buttons securely to marked stitches.
