Prayer Walk

For

Bethany Lutheran Schools

Join us on August 25th at noon to embark on a prayer walk for our schools. Pastor Russ will meet in the church courtyard at noon to share resources and guides for this way to pray and bless our schools. All are invited! The prayer walk will take about 30 minutes.

621 S. Orchard Ave. Vacaville

Dear Parents of Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers at Bethany,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make adjustments to facility usages in reaction to last year’s fire and destruction to our pre-school. Our progress toward a new pre-school facility continues. It’s been like a Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride as Bethany Ministries has been working laboriously with insurance companies to finally settle the finances on the burned out structure. It is hoped the matter will be settled soon. Our plans for a new pre-school at the Ulatis campus have been submitted to the city and upon their, and congregational approval, a new chapter in Bethany’s Toddler and Preschool will begin!

Again, thank you for your prayers and patience during this trying year of recovery.

In Christ,

Pastor Russ

Dr. Chris Smith

Cindy Miller

Bethany PTO Facebook

From our Pastor

Did you know we have a “closed” Facebook page for our school and its families? You are welcome to join. Just search Bethany PTO from your Facebook (we may change the name in the future) and ask the Admin for membership.

This Facebook page is for posting wonderful feel-good event photos and the like. W also post upcoming event notices, etc. This page is not to post grievances of any kind. Our Admin will delete anything that does not conform to our Christian values and the support of our school.

From the Principal

Welcome Back BLS!

I really had to pinch myself several times to make sure I was not dreaming, school is here! We have gotten the first few days of school in the books and it seems so surreal. The summer has come and gone and the season of academics and spiritual preparedness is upon us.

With the start of the 2019-2020 school year, we are set to have one of the best years in our school history. The staff and I are eager to work with each and every student God has placed

in our educational care. We know as teachers that the expectations from parents are high and that the expecta-tions from our call as teachers is even greater. The Bible says, “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. 2 For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body,” James 3:1-2 ESV. We know that we are charged to give our best at all times and work to ensure the students are well equipped with the message of hope and love that is Jesus Christ. We relish this opportunity and rejoice in the fact that God has selected each member of our team for their varied role in the educational ministry.

As we get underway for the new school year, I am proud to update you on some of the fantastic improvements we are working on or completing.

Technology Center / Science Lab – Room B16 has officially been turned into the new Tech / Science Lab. 30 PC laptops have been ordered along with a new storage cart which has already arrived. The lab also has 3 networked printers, overhead projector, document camera, microscopes for labs, and much more. The lab will be integrated into the weekly curriculum for most grade levels.

New Black Top Games – As a gift from the out going 8th graders from the 2018-2019 school year, additional games have been added to the black top for the students to use during recess and lunch play times.

New Pre-School Plans at the City – Our plans for the new preschool building were resubmitted to the City of Vacaville for approval. Once the city approves the new updated plans, the Church Council plans to break ground and get the project moving as quickly as possible. The goal is to move the entire ministry of Bethany Lutheran to the Ulatis site. This would include the preschool, church, and all administrative offices.

Extended Care Update – As some of you may be aware, the Extended Care program is undergoing several critical new updates and changes to streamline the program and provide an opportunity to bring on some additional new staff members. As we are going through these very positive fixes, we ask that you be patient with us as you may see a variety of people working in the program, and many of the daily protocols changing as well.

Security Update – Over the course of the next few weeks, the students and staff at Bethany will be taking part in several practice emergency drills. These drills will help to prepare and inform students of the protocols needed during an actual emergency. Please note that during these drills, the campus can and will be placed on complete lock-down, which means no one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drills are completed.

While I am excited about all of the new and improved plans we are working on at the school, I do want to reiterate job one! We are committed to nurture, love, and pray for your children. We will educate them with excellence. We will help lead them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and strive for spiritual maturity. We will teach them to serve and be responsible citizens for our school, community, and world. We will strive to model and train effective communicators. We are committed to following God’s call for our lives and the lives of our students. Let’s work together to make Bethany Lutheran School the best that it can be.

Stay Prayerful,

Dr. Chris Smith

Principal
