PDAM Malang presentationPDAM Malang is a local government-owned company which is a tool of regional autonomy established by the Regional Regulation No. 6 of 1981.

The Malang Municipal Water Company serves about 147,000 customers (around 80% of Malang population) and manages a distribution network of nearly 2,500 km over an area of 110 km². The water network is composed of 15 pumping stations that produce around 1500 lt/dt and 31 reservoirs that totalize a water volume of 28 000 m3. In Malang the

water is providing from water sources and PDAM is only using chlorine for the purification; the chlorine level they must achieve is not more than 0.2 ppm.

PDAM Malang staff and operators need to be immediately informed of any problems arising at the water treatment plants, the pumping stations, the reservoirs and the District Metering Areas in order to be able to deal with the problems immediately to avoid undue impact on the services provided to the water customers. For this purpose, they decide to install a telemetry and District Metering Area system based

on SOFREL solutions.

The benefits of the SOFREL system Using the telemetry system, the operators are immediately informed of any problems arising at the water treatment plant, the reservoirs and the district metering areas and are able to analyse the problems and start off immediate interventions to avoid undue impact on the services provided to the public. This enables the PDAM Malang water company to work more easily and with greater accuracy and efficiency in operating the clean water supply system.

With a permanent monitoring of the water levels in reservoirs, PDAM had an established rule that water may not run low, nor may there be overflow.

The more accurate the analysis and actions taken, the easier it is for the municipal water company to save money. That is the first consideration. Second are improvements in service, reduction in Non-Revenue Water, energy efficiency and other costs.Regarding the NRW ratio by the end of 2015, the Malang Municipal Water Company had successfully reduced water losses to 18.33%. .For PDAM Malang the most important of all is the ability to provide a service to the customers of the municipal water company with quality targets of 0.5 bars at peak load and then 24-hour service and 0.2 ppm in the most distant areas.

PDAM Malang appreciates the SOFREL Products for their reliability (battery life up to 10 years, GSM/GPRS modem integrated), robustness (IP 68 waterproof, high electromagnetic protection, high secure communications), ease of installation and use (local Bluetooth interface, access to

the SIM card and battery, web data interface…).

In addition to the SOFREL smart technology, PDM Malang appreciates the technical support and services of PT Protech Company, the Indonesian Partner of LACROIX Sofrel.
