This includes the counties of St. Mary's, Calvert, Charles, Ann Arundel and Prince Georges. The Executive Director (ED) reports to the PTLT Executive Committee and is responsible for managing the PTLT land conservation efforts. This includes coordinating strategic and project management plans; working with a large variety of stakeholders from public and private organizations; personally performing and coordinating the work of others to achieve conservation goals; taking part in community outreach, public relations and fundraising; and exercising stewardship over PTLT’s existing portfolio of properties under easement. DUTIES: Stewardship of Existing Easements: Organize and execute a Land Stewardship and Monitoring Program in compliance with the Land Trust Alliance (LTA) guidelines. Establishing New Conservation Easements: Work with federal, state and local officials, land owners, lawyers and other conservation organizations to (1) identify new opportunities for land conservation, (2) secure needed sponsorship and grant funding, and (3) develop and execute a detailed plan to bring these new lands under protective easement as quickly and efficiently as practicable. Fundraising: Become familiar with available funding sponsors and processes for application and, working with the Executive Committee, develop and execute a plan to pursue conservation funding and public support for PTLT efforts.

• Strategic Planning: Support the Board in developing an annual work plan and a multi-year strategic plan.

• Financial Management: Work with the Treasurer, and Finance Committee to develop for Board approval an annual budget and financial review process.

• Organizational Development: Support the Board in member recruitment and orientation and provide ongoing education related to land trust issues and organizational governance.

• Outreach and Education: Work with board members and volunteers to coordinate outreach to landowner partners, organizational partners, local and state governments, and the public at large.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate should have all or most of the following qualifications:

• Experience in organizational and project management. • Knowledge of real estate settlement processes and land records. • Excellent writing, public speaking and negotiating skills, including an ability to

interact effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people (Board and staff, members, donors, volunteers, landowners, government officials, media, scientists, attorneys, real estate professionals, and the general public).

• Self-motivated work ethic. • Microsoft Office skills especially spreadsheet programs. • Internet and social media skills. • General office and organizational skills. • Knowledge of non-profit organizations. • An appreciation for the natural environment, land preservation and environmental

issues.

Work will be done primarily out of a home office.
