About the Presenter

Gary Popielarczyk – Director EPM Services

Over 18 years of EPM/Hyperion experience. His career has

included a wide range of Finance and IT roles across multiple

industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and

education. He has been involved in all stages of project

implementations, and managed numerous full-lifecycle

implementations, upgrades and rebuilds, as well as managed

services for ongoing application support.

• Take an on-premise Planning app and move it to the cloud…

▪ We can use Lifecycle management, right?

▪ Sounds simple?

• But wait… what versions are supported for “migration”?

▪ 11.1.2.1

• Our EPM is 11.1.2.3.500… Will it work?


The plot thickens…

• Our “on-prem” has 2 applications that share data using Business Rules with xref▪ Wait a minute ??

• PBCS only supports one application per pod• xref isn’t supported for PBCS

▪ What to do?• Lift and shift – 2 apps, 2 pods

– EPM Automate to move data» Cumbersome, not user friendly. Admin or schedule

• MERGE to ONE app on-premise, then migrate– Use Smart Push (data maps) to move data between PlanTypes– Remove Xrefs from Calculation manager
