Upcoming Events in the Park Is it just me or was October jam packed with events? Well, catch your breath and rest up quickly, because it’s time to gear up for Thanksgiving! What better way to give thanks for all that we have to be grateful for than to take full advantage of all of the gifts around us?

Keep up to date on events at my neighborhood blog: http://pattersonparkpatter.blogspot.com

November 3rd (Tuesday) Head to Three…a Patterson Park restaurant for Trivia at 8 and to welcome their new chef – so far I’ve heard rave reviews!

November 9th (Monday) The last PPNA meeting of the year before our December holiday party! Come to St. Elizabeth’s at 7 p.m. to hear what’s new.

November 14th (Saturday) Help the Friends of Patterson Park with a fall tree and bulb planting, starting at 9 a.m. at the pagoda.

November 18th (Wednesday) Hit the weekly Citizens on Patrol walk while the weather is still nice. Meet at the corner of Linwood and Baltimore to walk for an hour. Walks are often followed my informal drinks at Three…

November 21st (Saturday) Sadly, this year’s Thanksgiving Parade has been cancelled, but let’s do our own celebrating in Patterson Park! Invite your neighbors over for informal cocktails or have a pie party with your block.

November 26th (Thursday) Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for living in such a fantastic neighborhood with such wonderful friends and fun – I hope you are too!

November 28th (Saturday) Join Patterson Park Audubon for a Bird Walk to work off some of those Thanksgiving calories! Register by calling 410-558-2473

November 30th (Monday) Unless extended, the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit expires today!

Giving Thanks As we move through November, our hearts and minds turn to Thanksgiving and the family and feasting that ensue. But don’t forget the essence of the day: Take time to give thanks and give back. You don’t have to go far or spend a lot of time to make a difference. Need some ideas? How about…

o Picking up litter around the park

o Helping an older resident with household maintenance/repairs

o Surprising a neighbor going through tough times with a pie

o Sweep up your block’s sidewalk or alley

o Attend a Purple Kings game and cheer on our sponsored team

o Reach out to a new resident to welcome them and answer questions

See how easy it can be? Now go make a difference to someone’s day!

Featured Real Estate Article:

Senate likely to extend homebuyers' tax credit Information taken in part from CNN’s Oct 28th story by Ted Barrett, Dana Bash and Lisa Desjardins

Senate leaders have reached a tentative deal to extend the first-time homebuyers' tax credit that was originally passed earlier this year as part of the stimulus bill, Republican and Democratic sources told CNN on Wednesday. The agreement would extend and expand the credit to include current homeowners who want to move, according to the sources. The original credit in the stimulus bill is set to expire at the end of November and offers a tax credit of $8,000 to first-time homebuyers. Senate sources told CNN they have tentatively agreed to extend that $8,000 credit for first-time buyers until the end of April. In addition, they are adding a $6,500 credit for some current homeowners who buy a new residence by then. To qualify, current homeowners must have lived in their primary residence for five continuous years. Senators have not agreed on how the tentative deal would come up for a vote, but sources from both parties said they are considering adding the housing credit to a bill that would extend unemployment benefits. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has indicated she also is interested in extending the homeowner credit, but House leaders have yet to endorse any one bill.

So what does this mean for you? That all depends! If you are a first time buyer OR someone who has not purchased a home in the past five years you’ll be able to take advantage of thousands of dollars of tax credits to get you in to a new home. WOW! If you’re a seller, this is great news because buyers who have been on the fence or unable to make the previous November 30th deadline can still take advantage of the credit once passed.

The current housing market offers unprecedented opportunities for first-time and move-up buyers alike. Call or email me to talk about your best move.
